Welcome to this Legion raid preview. Today's boss is Il'gynoth, Heart of Corruption, third boss of the Emerald Nightmare gang on Raid Finder difficulty.
Il'gynoth, Heart of Corruption
Housed within a now decrepit World Tree, Il'gynoth is a manifestation of the horrors that inhabit the heart of the Nightmare. It is a cluster of corruption, an entity that should not exist. Its tentacles delve into the earth and emerge in the form of countless stalking eyes and gruesome limbs.
Strategy
The first thing to keep in mind is that we have been able to test this boss in the difficulty of Raid Finder, which can give us a wrong view regarding the difficulty of it.
At first glance it seems simple due to the difficulty, but there are quite a few things to keep in mind in this match, so it promises to be fun especially in the phase change; if you stay inside you are dead.
Phase 1: The Ruined Ground
We will begin the encounter by confronting the tentacles and stalking eyes of Il'gynoth. We must bear in mind that the Eye hardly receives direct damage, only when the Nightmare Icores (slugs) die at its side.
So what we will do is eliminate the rest of the objectives, in addition, each time we eliminate a tentacle, icores will appear that we will carry next to the eye and to damage it.
We are going to find several types of tentacles:
- Lethal Eye Tentacle: to which we must interrupt Mental Torture, since this ability inflicts shadow damage every 2 seconds.
- Corrupting Tentacle: which we must eliminate as soon as possible, since it vomits corruption, damaging nearby players and creating pools of Nightmare corruption.
- Dominating Tentacle: This target must be tanked to avoid the damage from Disintegrating Roar that it will do if it does not have a melee, and for it to be the tank that receives Fury of Torment, an ability that unleashes a barrage of attacks against its main target every 0.8 seconds doing 470.000 of physical damage.
- The rest of us must be attentive, especially the melés, since this tentacle will fix a player with Slam on the ground, hitting in the direction that the player is and causing damage to everyone who is in the line.
In addition, a Nightmare Horror. ANDThis minion must be tanked and eliminated as soon as possible, as he creates pools of Nightmare Corruption and deals shadow damage in a straight line in front of horror. (although in raid difficulty this damage will only affect the tank)
During the first phase, more and more minions will appear, when killing them icores will appear, which we will take together to the eye to damage it, and so on until we finish with it.
Phase 2: The Heart of Corruption
When this happens we move on to the second phase, at this time the path to the Heart of Corruption will open for us.
We will throw heroism and we will try to lower as much life as possible to the Heart, since we do not have much time and, although in this difficulty we defeat it one, it will not be like that in higher difficulties.
While we focus on lowering the life to the Heart, we must be attentive to Corrupted Blood, an ability with which it marks a player that will explode after 8 seconds, inflicting a lot of damage to the players who are in its radius.
When Il'gynoth gets tired of us, he will use dark reconstitution, an ability with which he closes the door again and will kill everyone inside.
If we have not defeated Il'gynoth by then, the first phase will begin again.

Summary
Players begin the showdown by fighting the tentacles and stalk Il'gynoth's eyes, while the monstrous eye blocks the way to the heart of the tree. Upon defeating these tentacles, animated Nightmare ichor globules appear, which players can destroy near the eye to damage it.
After the eye is defeated, players can enter the gap to directly damage Il'gynoth for a period of time, after which the eye reshapes to reseal access to the entrance and kill any remaining players. This repeats until the players defeat Il'gynoth.
Dps
- Stay away from the raid when under the effects of Vomiting Corruption.
- Disrupt the Death Eye Tentacles Mind Torture.
- Lure the Nightmare icores focused on you into Il'gynoth's Eye when they are low on health, and wait until they are within eye range to kill them.
- Avoid the players selected by Slam to the ground and stay away from the other players when it falls on you.
Healers
- The Tormenting Fury of the Dominating Tentacles and the Nightmare's Eye of Fate of Horrors deal heavy damage to tanks.
- Dispel Touch of Corruption.
- Disrupt the Death Eye Tentacles Mind Torture.
- Draw Nightmare icores focused on you into Il'gynoth's Eye when they are low on health.
- Stay away from the raid when under the effects of Vomiting Corruption.
Tanks
- The Tormenting Fury of the Dominating Tentacles, and the Nightmare's Eye of Fate of Horrors deal heavy damage.
- Nightmare horrors create pools of Nightmare Corruption - move them around to minimize the damage they deal.
- Avoid the players targeted by Slam on the ground.
