World of Warcraft 5.2 Patch Notes

  • General
    • New daily quest area: The Isle of the Thunder King.
      • Here players can join the assault to conquer Emperor Lei Shen's island stronghold, access new quest chains and daily quest areas, participate in special events, earn the right to visit the legendary Hall of Treasures, claim an arsenal of powerful mogu artifacts for your faction and much more.
      • Leading the assault will be the highlights of each faction: the Kirin Tor Offensive led by Jaina Proudmoore and the Sunreaver Onslaught led by Lor'themar Theron. By earning reputation with these new factions, heroes have the opportunity to receive new quests and reputation rewards, including powerful items and an intimidating new mount.
      • Once both the Alliance and the Horde have successfully established a position on the island, players will be able to choose between undertaking missions focused on PvE or PvP. PvP missions will pit players against NPCs from the opposing faction, but killing enemy players will also grant credit.
      • Upon conquering the island, the heroes gain access to the mighty Lightning Forge, allowing blacksmiths to forge gang-worthy items as well as classic weapons from the past.
      • PTR players can teleport to the Isle of the Thunder King at their faction's shrines in Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Although the Isle of the Thunder King will be progressively unlocked from kingdom to kingdom based on participation in the war campaign, initially only some of the Island's features will be accessible. Future updates will include the shipyard and courtyard principal. Some features, such as the Hall of Treasures, will not be available yet.
    • New Raid: Throne of Thunder
      • Emperor Lei Shen, the King of Thunder, has returned to unleash his vengeance on Pandaria. It will be up to the heroes of the Alliance and the Horde to stop the newly resurrected tyrant and his Zandalari allies in the massive and hulking band: Throne of Thunder.
      • Throne of Thunder is a sprawling citadel that houses 12 new raid encounters, and players who defeat Emperor Lei Shen in Heroic Mode can get a chance to face an extra thirteenth enemy.
      • The Raid Finder version of the Throne of Thunder will split into 4 different wings.
      • Join the Shado-Pan Assault on their solo campaign to defeat Lei Shen, the Thunder King, once and for all, and gain access to reward items with impressive value points. Reputation can only be earned with this faction in the Throne of Thunder Raid Dungeon.
      • Attention: During 5.2 PTRs, this raid dungeon will only be available for a limited trial time. Stay tuned to our PTR discussion forum for more details.
    • The Legendary Mission Continues:
      • Wrathion needs to know the origin and provenance of the mogu power, and the mightiest heroes of Azeroth will help the Black Prince find out what it is. This quest for information will lead players deep into the Thunder King's Palace, putting them through tests of skill and perseverance. Along the way, they will unravel the secrets of a new helmet enchantment, the Crown of Heaven.
      • Please note: this quest will not be available in PTRs at first, but will be coming soon.
    • New World Bosses: Nalak, the Storm Lord, and Oondasta
      • Nalak, the Storm Lord
        • After the conquest of the Isle of the Thunder King, the guardian of the gate of the Thunder King's citadel will appear: Nalak, the Lord of the Storm. Players will have the chance to meet him often.
      • oondasta
        • In a place forgotten by time, the Zandalari have provided weapons and armor to the great demoniac Oondasta, and he awaits players brave enough (or foolish enough) to meet him on the mysterious Isle of Giants that it is found in the seas north of Kun-Lai Summit.
    • Buy the farm
      • Players who have had a taste for working the land at Rancho Cantosol can now buy it from Farmer Yoon. Once the land is owned by a player, it becomes a resting point like an inn, where the player can put down roots and disconnect. Orders from factions across Pandaria will arrive at the farm, and completing them will earn you reputation with the faction that made them.
      • Attention: the new features of Rancho Cantosol are not available in the PTRs, but they will not be long in coming.
    • New world boss system
      • Now all bosses in the world are Loot per faction. This new system offers each player of the same faction who opts for loot and who faces a boss the possibility of winning loot. With the new system, players will only be able to earn loot from each world boss once a week, but there will be bonus spins. Additionally, bosses will now respawn more frequently.
