Upcoming changes in patch 4.3:

  • Dungeon Finder - 150 HP per instance, capped at 7 instances per week. All Heroic Dungeons that were introduced in patches 4.0, 4.1, and 4.3 will earn you 150 Valor Points per instance.
  • Raid Finder - 250 HP per instance, capped at 500 points per week. The Patch 4.3 raid, the Dragon Soul, will be separated into two separate raids in Raid Finder. Individual bosses will not provide Valor Points through the Raid Finder, however, you will receive 250 Valor Points for completing each Dragon Soul raid. Each boss will only drop loot once a week, but you will still receive 250 Valor Points for completing each Raid Finder raid, up to the 500 point limit.
  • 10 Player Raid Boss - 115 HP. There are 9 bosses per week, including the Bastion of Baradin.
  • 25 Player Raid Boss - 135 HP. There are 9 bosses per week, including the Bastion of Baradin.
  • The Value Point limit is 1000 per week.

As you earn Valor Points you will want to spend them and vendors will offer a wide range of items that you can equip for the Dragon Soul raid encounters; including capes, rings, ranged weapons, necklaces, beads, chest pieces, helmets, wrists, boots, and belts; the item level for all of these will be 397.

Our goal with these changes is to return the Valor Points to the original intention of the reward coins, that is, that they are consolation prizes; We did this for two main reasons: so that the losing streak of getting an item you're looking for from a specific boss isn't so frustrating, and to encourage you to keep completing boss encounters (and helping the rest of your party) even if that boss isn't have thrown something for your character. Over time, we also offered Valor Points as a reward for doing other activities (like participating in 5-player Heroic Dungeons) so that players would have something to do on a night's rest or when they couldn't raid.

In the past, we've offered some tier pieces in the Valor vendor for players who couldn't justify the time or logistics required to participate in raids, but we hope that the addition of the Raid Finder will help remove this barrier. We find that most players will agree that eliminating a giant monster and collecting loot from its corpse is more exciting than gradually collecting coins to buy a reward. Coins have their place in the game, however we want them to be a secondary progression resource.

Raid Finder will provide a lower level of difficulty for Dragon Soul raids and thus item levels will also be lower; normal 10- and 25-player raids will have items at level 397, while the final encounter against Deathwing will have items at level 403. For the heroic versions, the raids for 10 and 25 players will have items at level 410 and the heroic encounter against Deathwing will have loot level 416.

As we get closer to the release of patch 4.3, we'll post everything you need to know about the process of converting Valor Points to Justice Points, so stay tuned.
