Blues Roundup: Ragnaros Legs and Reintroduce Old Content

I am sure you have seen the Ragnaros model with legs on somewhere… Well, Blizzard has spoken out against the huge avalanche of comments they have received in the forums.

The problem is that you have no context or perspective of the model of which you have only seen a static image.

  1. Standing next to his full-size animated model will give you a very different perspective when you look at him from his big toenail.
  2. Knowing that he will only come out of the lava to reveal his full figure in a phase only available in heroic mode of combat will give you a little more context.

He's not going to run away the moment every band gets to him. 🙂

So it seems like it's not so bad after all, right? In addition, after the jump, you can see an explanatory blue on the subject that many of you have commented, the recurrence of Blizzard when it comes to remaking old content. Personally, I find it somewhat acceptable considering that many players (including myself) have not been able to enjoy the glory of some dungeons such as Naxrramas or Zul'Gurub.

If I were to bet the two guys holding hands, I'm pretty sure we'll see some Ahn'Quiraj in this expansion.

There is definitely no strict rule about updating existing content. If we think redoing existing content makes sense in the current state of the game and story - and we think it will be fun - sure, that's a possibility. Either way, you shouldn't expect something like this every patch. In the grand scheme of World of Warcraft history, we have reintroduced a small amount of existing content per patch and expansion.

And let's be clear - we know why you are recycling old content. With the upcoming Starcraft 2 expansion, Diablo 3, and an unannounced MMO in production, I guess the art team has their hands full. Recycling old content is an easy way to create a "new" dungeon with old drawings.

There is no single Blizzard Entertainment art team. Each franchise has its own art department. We do not remove resources from one project to give more attention to another in the sense that you are suggesting. This is why we have multiple development teams (including art teams for each) and can work on multiple franchises simultaneously.

Blackwing's lair has been converted to Blackwing Descent and Molten Core is about to be converted to the Firelands.

Does your definition of repeating content follow from the boss names being the same? There will always be recurring characters in World of Warcraft as there are in any fantasy story.
