Blizzard interviews For the Horde at Gamescom 2010

During Gamescom 2010 Blizzard had the opportunity to interview one of the leading brotherhoods, in the PvE field, of World of Warcraft: The German Brotherhood For the Horde. Katriedna, the posted on the forums and here we leave it.

At this year's gamescom in Cologne, Germany, World of Warcraft fans had the opportunity to see some of Europe's best gang-related guilds challenging the Lich King on stage. During the event we had the opportunity to sit down to chat with members of a well-known German brotherhood “For the Horde” and ask them about their experiences as dedicated gang players and their impressions of the future in World of Warcraft.

Q: Your brotherhood was among the first to raze Icecrown Citadel. How do you approach new bosses when you face a raid dungeon for the first time? And, out of curiosity, how much gold do you spend repairing your gear when you're working on a new band?

R: The first thing we try when fighting a new boss is to try to stay alive as much as possible and gather as much information as we can. The next step is to learn the different boss skills one by one, we do that and then we push the performance of the group to the limit until we get through the fight. Some of us also created minor UI tweaks to time boss abilities or set raid icons. Repair costs for these fights vary, starting a boss fight for the first time can be expensive. During our first week in Ulduar, for example, we spent 80.000 guild bank gold on repairs.

Q: A new raid dungeon also means there are other guilds competing to be the first to kill a boss. Tell us, how is the atmosphere in your brotherhood in those moments?

R: Those phases of progress are both fascinating and stressful for us, because for a short period of time we spend many hours a day adjusting our strategies. The competition between sororities throughout the world is important to us and we are always happy with any first death we achieve, but we are also happy when other brotherhoods achieve significant achievements. When we succeed with something that has been especially challenging, we can be very emotional - our neighbors have even gone to knock on the door to see what happens!

Q: What is it that catches your eye about Cataclysm?

R: We are very excited about the new guild system that provides guilds with many useful features to help them with their raids. We're also curious to see how Blizzard will go about ensuring that the 10- and 25-player raids are balanced in terms of difficulty and loot distribution. We also like Blizzard's efforts to continue with that philosophy of "bring the player, not the class", for example by better distributing the different benefits between classes.

Q: What are your fondest memories from five years of raiding in World of Warcraft?

R: Many may expect us to talk about Ragnaros or any of the other fantastic first kills we get. But after all this time, we have realized that the most important thing is the fun of playing together and the relationships that we have created.

And that's it? Yes ... it's that short.

What is clear, is that the For the Horde guys are waiting to see how the new system of Bands of 10 and 25 works in Cataclysm. And you, have you been thinking about how you are going to face it in your brotherhood?
