Blizzard reverts change to title "The Exalted": Now 40 Reputations Required (Again)

Due to the enormous amount of messages from the players and after internal discussions in the team, Blizzard has decided to return the Exalted title to its previous state since until a few days ago, it had been changed so that you could only get it after reaching 50 reputations. at Exalted level, instead of the 40 previously required.

After the change (not announced) the players lost the title and the only way to get it was to get 10 more reputations. Blizzard finally decided that it was unfair that due to some flaws in the game's programming, they had to take the title away from people who had already achieved it. Now, you need 40 Exalted-level reputations as before, although this is likely to change in the not too distant future.

The complete change, you can read it after the jump.

We recently changed the title from "The Exalted" to require 50 Reputations to Exalted instead of 40, which meant for those who had succeeded they would have to earn 10 more Reputations to regain the title. We believed that this way we would keep the title as a difficult reward, given the number of additional reputations introduced with Cataclysm, and also avoid the problem of achievement inflation as the game continues to grow, devaluing the reward.

We didn't warn people that we were going to make this change. Quite a notable mistake on our part. We accept full responsibility for not communicating the change properly and we apologize for the frustration it added to the situation. Unfortunately, that frustration has reached an extreme with some people. Over the past few days we have had to apply countless suspensions to people who have not been able to uphold the forum's code of conduct while writing about the change. Of course we understand that the passions can get tough but some of the violations were extreme enough to remove writing privileges permanently. It's unfortunate because rational, calm, and constructive messages are the kind of feedback we take, discuss, and can help make real change. For those of you who were able to adhere to those writing ideals, we greatly appreciate your efforts to keep cool.

We have taken your messages and views constructive, and after discussing the change for a while with the designers, the decision has been to move the title "The Exalted" to the point where it requires 40 Exalted-level reputations. We are going to try this change with a live fix, but we are not sure right now that it can be applied this way. A patch may be necessary. (We will let you know if it is).

Achievements of 45 and 50 Exalted Reputations will continue to exist, but for now they will yield nothing more than achievement points. Since some have asked why the title is not sponsored like the titles of "The Cultural Master" or "The Explorer", they work with a different mechanic. As long as your requirements have changed, the current achievement is the same. There are no current ways that allow us to give a title for one achievement and then move the title to a different achievement and allow people to keep them. However, we are working to develop this technology that allows players to keep items or titles associated with achievements even if we decide to change the criteria. For example, let's say that we eventually decide to move the title from "The Exalted" to an achievement that needs 60 reputations in the next expansion (this is just an example), players who won the title with 40 reputations will keep the title when the criteria change. . This technology would allow players to keep the titles or items they have already won, while making sure we don't get stuck in a position where we have to continually generate new rewards just so those who previously won them don't lose them.

Thanks again for your feedback.
