Frequently asked questions about the Resurrection Spell

El Resurrection Spell lets you invite a friend or guildmate to return to World of Warcraft for FREE for 7 days, and will give you and your friend epic benefits if your friend returns to World of Warcraft.

How do I send a Resurrection Spell to my friend?

There are two options for sending a Resurrection Spell:

1. Within the game, open your Real ID Friends List or Guild List. Any character or account that is eligible to receive a Resurrection Spell will have a special button right next to it. Press that Resurrection Spell button to generate an invitation email. You can also include a personal message for your friend inviting him to return to the game.

2. From your Battle.net Account Management page, tap the World of Warcraft account from which you want to send the invitation and select «Recruits and Rewards«. The Resurrection Spell will be one of the options available in that menu. Once pressed, you can enter the name and email address of the friend you want to resuscitate, as well as add a personal message next to the invitation.

 

Eligibility & Limitations

Are all countries eligible to use the Resurrection Spell?

To send an invitation, it is necessary to have a full account, active and without incident. Only people residing in the following countries can send Resurrection Spell invitations: Spain, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal, United Kingdom, Russia, Sweden and Ukraine. You must have a Battle.net account. Create a free account at battle.net.

Who can receive a Resurrection Spell?

In order to receive a Resurrection Spell, your friend must have had a previous subscription to World of Warcraft for at least 30 days, and their account must be inactive on or before March 4, 2012.

If your friend's World of Warcraft account has been inactive since December 2009 (or earlier), your friend must first associate their World of Warcraft account with a free Battle.net account, before they can receive a Resurrection Spell. Tell your friend to visit our question and answer page about Battle.net accounts for more information on creating a Battle.net account and linking your World of Warcraft account to it. When your friend has set up their account, you can cast the Resurrection Spell on them normally.

Can I resurrect one of my own World of Warcraft accounts?

If you have at least one active World of Warcraft account, you can send invitations for the Resurrection Spell to your inactive accounts.

How long does a Resurrection Spell invitation last once I have sent it?

Your friend will have 30 days to accept the invitation. The offer will expire if it is not used within that period of time.

Is there a limit to the number of Resurrection Spell invitations I can send?

There is a limit of one Resurrection Spell invite per day, for each World of Warcraft account, both online and in-game. That is, there is an effective limit of 2 Resurrection Spell invitations per day and per account, if you use both delivery options. There is no limit to the number of Resurrection Spell invitations an account can send in its lifetime.

Can I invite someone who has never played with a Resurrection Spell?

The Resurrection Spell can only be used with players who have ever had an active subscription to World of Warcraft. For a similar offer with friends who have never played World of Warcraft, you can make use of the promotion of Recruit a Friend.

 

Sending the Resurrection Spell

You will receive an exclusive mount when your friend who has accepted the Resurrection Spell renews their subscription and pays for 30 days of game time. The Spectral Gryphon for Alliance characters or the Spectral Wind Rider for Horde characters. What are the benefits of casting a Resurrection Spell?

How do I redeem the mount once my friend has subscribed?

Access your Account Management page and click on the Resurrection Spell option. Under the tab History / Status, you will see a button to Claim mount when you are eligible for it. Choose the kingdom and the character you want to assign the mount to and it will arrive in your character's mailbox in the game.

Note: The mount can only be exchanged for a single character for each Spell.

When will I receive the mount for resurrecting a friend?

Your friend must accept your Spell of Resurrection invitation and renew their game subscription for at least 30 days for you to be eligible to receive the mount.

Can I get multiple mounts on my account?

Yes! You will receive this reward each time a friend accepts an invitation and meets the subscription reactivation criteria.

Can I keep track of the invitations I have sent?

After your friend accepts, you will be able to check the invitation status on the History page in the Recruits and Rewards section that you will see from your Battle.net Account Management page.

Who will receive the reward if several people send the same player several Resurrection Spells?

Only the player whose invitation has been accepted will receive the reward. If the player who receives the invitation receives several different ones, he will have to choose which of them he accepts. You can only accept one Resurrection Spell for each eligible World of Warcraft account.

Will my friend get the Resurrection Spell invitation right away?

Invitations for the Resurrection Spell are sent out once a day. Your friend will not receive the invitation immediately, but they will receive it in less than 24 hours.

Why hasn't my friend received my invitation to the Resurrection Spell?

Invitations to the Resurrection Spell are sent once a day to all eligible accounts. Please allow 24-48 hours to make sure your friend receives the email correctly. To be eligible to receive the invitation, your friend must:

• Have a Battle.net account before you send them the invitation. The email address you are sending the invitation to must match the email address registered in your friend's Battle.net account.
• Not having changed the email address on your Battle.net account after the invitation has been sent

  Note: Make sure to complete any address changes before sending a Resurrection Spell invitation. If you or your friend change your Battle.net email address after an invite has been sent, you may lose the invites or rewards.

• Have at least one World of Warcraft account that was inactive prior to March 4, 2012. This account must be in good condition (that is, not suspended or closed).

If your friend hasn't received the email but meets the conditions above, ask them to check their spam mailbox. Your friend can also go to their Battle.net Account Management page and click on Recruits and Rewards> Resurrection Spell within your World of Warcraft account to view your invitation.

 

Accepting the Resurrection Spell

What are the benefits of accepting an invitation for the Resurrection Spell?

The player who receives a Resurrection Spell will immediately receive a FREE digital upgrade from their World of Warcraft account to Cataclysm. Additionally, you can permanently raise a character to level 80 so you can immediately launch into an adventure during the 7 FREE days of game time!

Note: The digital update and level up will only be available for resurrections shipped during the 90-day promotion period. Players who accept a Resurrection Spell sent after the promotion period ends will still receive the 7 days of FREE game time, but will not be eligible for the digital upgrade or level up.

I just accepted a Resurrection Spell. How do I level up my character?

Access your Battle.net account and click on the resurrected gaming license. When you are on the Game Management page, click on Claim Reward and select the character you want to level up along with their talent specialization. The next time you enter the game, you are ready to venture into the shattered world of Azeroth!

How does leveling work for the player who receives the resurrection?

After accepting the Spell, the recipient can choose a character to level up to level 80. The character's talent specialization must be selected before completing the level-up and the character will receive the appropriate talents under that chosen specialization. The character will appear in the capital of his faction and will be ready for the adventure immediately. This means that the character will have all class abilities and spells up to level 80, as well as a flying mount and the layer rider ability. You will also receive a green quality set of the correct level and specialization to help you continue to level up.

Any equipment that the character had before leveling up will be mailed back to the character via in-game mail.

Hunter pets will not receive a talent specialization, so hunters who level up using this method will need to select their pets' talents on a regular basis after entering the game for the first time.

Note: Active missions may be lost when leveling up a character using this method. If a quest is lost, you can return to it normally by speaking to the NPC who originally gave the quest.

Can I only upload one character this way? What if my main character is in a different kingdom or faction than the friend who invited me?

If the character that receives the level up is in a different realm or faction than the character that sent the invitation, you will also receive a Character Transfer and / or a Faction Change to take you to your friend's realm and faction.

Note: The existing limitations for Faction Changes and Character Transfers also apply to players who receive a Resurrection Spell. Additionally, a player who plays on a Russian server will not receive the free Realm Transfer if his friend plays on a European server.

How many times can a person accept a Resurrection Spell?

After March 5, 2012, only one Resurrection Spell can be accepted for each eligible World of Warcraft account. If your friend has already accepted an invitation after March 5, they will not be able to accept another invitation on the same World of Warcraft account, but they will be able to accept invitations on other eligible World of Warcraft accounts they own.

Is there any other way to get a character up to level 80 instantly without using a Resurrection Spell?

The ability to instantly raise a character to level 80 is only available when you accept a Resurrection Spell invitation.
