El Patch 4.0.1 has brought in the new Master Rider ability, which allows all flying mounts to reach the coveted 310% speed… for a cost of 5,000. This change also has to do with the previous skills, that is: a mount that runs at 60% will run at 100% as soon as you buy Artisan Rider.
Now all drakes have been changed to not fly at 310%. Instead they will fly at your highest speed and you will have to buy Master Craftsman to fly at maximum speed. Yes, it applies to the Proto-Drakes of Ulduar and Icecrown but, Blizzard offers those who have completed the achievement It's been a long and weird journey the ability of Master Rider for the effort of 1 full year.
I have a major update to release to the masses. We are applying a Hotfix to the achievement It's Been a Long and Weird Journey. This hotfix will cause those who obtain the Reins of the Violet Proto-Drake Get Master Rider.
The way 310% will be rewarded will be a bit quirky at first but we plan to streamline the process in a future patch. For now, you will need 280% flight to learn to use the Violet Drake Proto. Once you ride the mount the first time, Master Rider will teach you. The only downside is that the drake will have to be disassembled and reassembled for the 310% change to take effect.
