Many of us have ended up asking ourselves the same question. When is Icecrown over what?
Hopefully we'll see Cataclysm launch in the summer but it's pretty clear that the guilds will soon devour all of this new content that Patch 3.3 has brought us. In fact, the great guilds are a few steps away from having access to the Lich King in Heroic Mode (25) and I am sure that in the next week we will have a World first Kill.
How are these guilds entertained until Cataclysm?
Blizzard has already said that Icecrown Citadel is the last gang but they seem to have an ace up their sleeve ...
You still seem to have a lot of raid content to experience in Icecrown Citadel. With this in mind, one thing we'll be doing in the coming months is slowly making Icecrown Citadel's content more accessible to most base players; meanwhile, the more advanced guilds will be working their way to heroic difficulties in the final bosses, including the Lich King.
There is a lot of content in Icecrown Citadel for those who like gangs. There is a wide variety of bosses, quite a few filler monsters, in addition to the need for progression and even random weekly missions that vary in degrees of difficulty. Not to mention the new head of the Chamber of Archavon, Dalaran's weekly quests, and the popular Inter-Realm Dungeon Finder. We think all of this will appeal to those who like the PvE side of things for a while, allowing mid-level 80 players to pick up good gear over time and can try and take down the Lich King before Cataclysm begins.
That said, we do have some additional content for both PvE and PvP and changes that we plan to implement before the release of the big Cataclysm patch and the launch of the third expansion. We will talk about this content in more detail in the coming weeks.
As we said before launching Wrath of the Lich King, our intention is for Icecrown Citadel to be the last raid in the expansion in terms of tiers progression.
Does this mean that there will be no raids with a higher gear level than Icecrown Citadel? or that there will be no Tier 11 until Cataclysm arrives?
