Guide: Test of the Champion

The Trial of the Champion is the new 5-person dungeon introduced in Patch 3.2 located in the Coliseum of the Crusaders in the grounds of the Argent Tournament, north of Icecrown. The dungeon consists mostly of 3 random boss encounters in each encounter except the last one, and the loot (reward) of this dungeon in both its normal and heroic versions consists of epic items, the level of Naxxramas and some of the heroic loot of the Ulduar level 10.
The guide is focused from the heroic mode, since the normal mode is the same or less complicated than the heroic.

First meet: in this encounter we will face the bosses and pulls always mounted on one of the Argent Tournament's mount with a spear from it and we will find 3 bosses named Champions (from the Horde to the Alliance, and vice versa) and each with 3 escorts that we must defeat before we can fight the Champions. The Champions that can come out are random in each encounter.

Second meeting: In this encounter we will have to fight with a single boss, randomly between two different ones but not before ending with a series of 3 different pulls where each pull consists of a Priest that we must always kill the first one to prevent him from healing the rest of the pull . The bosses are as follows:

- Argent Confessor Lighthair: A champion that we will have to lower our life as soon as possible as soon as the event begins. Once we lower her life almost completely (we won't be able to kill her yet) she will launch us all simultaneously To confess, and while keeping us stunned, it will invoke a "nightmare" that is, an additional enemy. The tank will have to catch both the nightmare and the Confessor, and the DPS has to go all the way to the nightmare until it falls, since until it dies, we cannot defeat the boss.

Important: Argent Confessor casts a series of skills that we should cut whenever we can. The tank has to be very attentive to this, and if any dps (like a rogue or warrior) look capable, cut them too, especially Holy Punishment y Holy fire

- Eadric the Pure: This boss is very straightforward compared to the Confessor. After defeating all 3 pulls before Eadric, the tank must quickly catch the boss's threat, and the dps do their job. Its difficulty is that from time to time it casts (without being able to cut it) Radiance which we must avoid it by turning our backs on the boss and then continue with the meeting.

The loot: It is not yet fully determined in the databases in Spanish, and in English it is not yet well defined for each boss, but we know that this is the loot that we can find in the two together.

Third meeting: in this encounter we will finally face The Black Knight, whose combat consists of 3 phases:

- 1 phase: After finishing the welcome event, the boss is nothing more than tank & spank, that is, tank and hit. We must be careful with a ghoul that invokes which if we do not kill quickly, it will explode, in which case, we must move away to avoid the damage in area it produces, and the healer be careful with the cures when he throws us Devastate.

- 2 phase: The Knight "dies" and revives in the form of a skeleton invoking Army of the dead where we must be very careful. The tank must be very attentive to these ghouls and the rest of the group move away a bit during the summon so that the tank can generate enough threat for the entire plague. We will have to eliminate them as soon as possible since, if they do not die they will explode like the ghoul of phase 1 and if we are not careful, we can suffer a lot of damage that we may not be able to mitigate, in addition the ghouls periodically reset the threat, so the tank you have to be very attentive to this.

Once the plague is dead, we focus the dps on the Knight, and finally it falls, giving way to the next phase:

- 3 phase: It is perhaps the most complicated phase not only because of the skills that the Knight acquires, but because after all the combat we have lost mana and gained some cooldowns. The Knight rises in the form of a ghost, where the tank has to be very attentive to generate threat. The combat is a race of dps and healer, where the healer has more work in the whole encounter. The Knight will attack us with Death Sting y Marked to die. The latter is very lethal, and we must heal those who have it very quickly.

Achievements we can make:

  • Champion Test - Defeat the bosses in the Trial of the Champion.
  • Heroic: Trial of the Champion - Defeat the bosses in the Trial of the Champion on Heroic Difficulty.
  • Argent Confessor - On multiple visits to the Trial of the Champion, earn credit for defeating Confessor Argent Lighthair after suppressing five different memories from the past on Heroic Difficulty
  • The face crusher - Kill Eadric the Pure in the Trial of the Champion with his own hammer on Heroic Difficulty.
  • It could be worse - Defeat The Black Knight in the Trial of the Champion on Heroic Difficulty without any party member being hit by a Ghoul Blast.
