Elemental Shaman Guide - Patch 6.2 - Pve

elemental shaman 6.2

Welcome to this guide of the Elemental Shaman Pve. I am Ananyx from the Brown Hills server, and in this guide I will explain the changes we have undergone after patch 6.2 and how to get the most out of your Elemental Shaman.

Elemental Shaman

Acting as moderators between earth, fire, water, and air, shamans invoke totems that rally the elements to support the shaman's allies or to punish those who threaten them.

Changes in patch 6.2

  • Elemental overload  now increases Multistrike damage by 20% (from 35%), but now increases Multistrike granted from all sources by 10% (from 5).
  • Lava surge Now lasts 10 seconds (was 6 seconds).
  • The damage of Mastery: Molten Earth it has been increased by 11%.
  • Now Ascension has a 2 min cooldown (was 3 min) for Elemental Shaman.

Talents

LVL 15

LVL 30

  • Frozen power
  • This talent is more used in the field of Pvp, but in specific encounters where it is necessary to slow down a minion it comes in handy. Example: Star of the void by Archimonde.
  • Pillaterra Totem
  • Very useful in encounters with many minions that we need to control.
  • Ride the Wind Totem
  • We will certainly use it in encounters where the band is going to suffer movement reduction.

LVL 45

  • Call of the elements
  • Resets the cooldown of all totems that have a base cooldown of less than 3 min. Taking this into account, we can use this talent to use a totem that we need at a specific time more frequently. For example, if we need to use enabling totem to immobilize groups of minions.
  • Totemic persistence
  • Indispensable if we want to use several totems of the same element at the same time in an encounter. Example: I carry the talent Storm Elemental Totem and also I need to use the enabling totem, if I don't have Totemic persistence, when taking out the second totem he would destroy the first one, losing the CD.
  • Totemic projection
  • This talent allows us to change the location of an already thrown totem. We can take advantage of it if we want, for example, to do remote stuns with the enabling totem.

LVL 60

  • Elemental mastery
  • Ancient Swiftness
  • Echo of the elements
  • Due to the changes suffered in this patch, let's say that for the Elemental Shaman there are now two different and equally valid configurations.
  • We will use Echo of the elements In encounters where we need a lot of Aoe damage, since we gain two charges of Earthquake, the ability with which we inflict more damage.
  • However, in unitarget encounters or in which we need specific damage peaks, we will choose Elemental mastery without hesitation, as it now shares the cooldown with Ascension, so that we will always use them together, thus gaining a considerable increase in damage. If we also combine it with the use of Nithramus, the All-Seer, better than better.

LVL 75

LVL 90

LVL 100

  • Elemental Fusion
  • Causes the damage increase of our next Shock with each Lava Burst, gaining sustained damage. Although personally I have not profited from this patch until I have the Archimonde Trinket since it has a good synergy with it.
  • Storm Elemental Totem
  • It's the talent we'll be using the most in this patch for both Unitarget and Aoe encounters. We will always use it at the beginning of the encounter and once it expires we will have the Fire Elemental ready, also in encounters of more than 7 minutes we will be able to repeat this combination.
  • Liquid magma
  • Ideal for encounters with many minions that we have to eliminate quickly. In this band I have personally used it much less than in the previous ones since with the Earthquake damage it is usually enough for the required Aoe damage, opting for Storm Elemental Totem for sustained damage.

This is how the basic talent setup for one target rotation would look. This combination is subject to the changes that the different meetings will ask us to do.

Never forget to bring Written of the clear mind !

Elemental Shaman Talents 6.2

Glyphs

Among the many glyphs that we can use, we will highlight several for their uses or benefits, although the most common configuration is Glyph of Flame ShockGlyph of Lightning Shield y Glyph of Chain Lightning.

Minor glyphs

  • The minor glyphs are mostly cosmetic, although you have some with some utility such as:
  •  Glyph of Ghostly Speed, which increases movement speed by an extra 60% and is useful in many situations.
  • Glyph of Lake Walker, which allows you to walk on water.
  • Or simply cosmetics:
  • Glyph of Totemic Circle, to remember old times.
  • Glyph of Ascension, the appearance of your Ascension form now changes to an enhanced elemental version of your normal humanoid form.

Statistics

The optimal stats for the Elemental Shaman in this patch are:

Intellect> Multistrike> Haste> or = Critical> Mastery> Versatility

We will always look for pieces of equipment that have Multistrike and Haste or Critical, since Haste is better for unitarget damage and Critical power boosts Aoe damage.

We must not forget the mastery since with the increase in damage suffered in this patch, it will help us achieve a good dps, but with the Grace of the Air (Passive) of the Elemental Shaman, the Head of Tier 18 and the Nithramus, the All-Seer, that come with Mastery will be enough to reach the optimal level.

The Multistrike gives us two chances to perform attacks or heals with an effect of 30% of the original damage / healing.

La Elemental overload now increases multistrike damage by 20%, but now increases multistrike granted from all sources by 10%. Also, with the multistroke  Lightning Bolt y  Chain of lightning generate extra charges from your  Shield of lightning, through  Fulmination. This explains why Multistrike is so important to the Elemental Shaman.

Haste increases our spell casting speed. Thanks to it we will see the casting time of our main skills decreased and we can cast  Lava burst more often, due to the procs of Lava surge. It will also increase the tics that  Clash of flames y  Earthquake inflict in time.

Critical strike rating increases the likelihood that our spells will land more effective hits.

La  Molten earth, passively increases the damage of  Earthquake and causes the land around you to come to your aid for 6 seconds, repeatedly dealing Fire damage to the target that took your last attack. Remember that Earthquake It is the ability with the most damage Aoe, with which we can change some piece in benefits of this stat if the encounter requires it.

Versatility increases the damage / healing we do and reduces the damage taken. It is the statistic that benefits us the least and we should avoid it as much as we can.

Enchantments and gems

Based on the stats above, we'll be using multi-hit gems and enchantments.

Flask, food and potion

As in enchantments and gems, we will use the consumables that best suit our priority in the statistics.

Rotation and priorities

We are going to divide the rotation into two situations, against one target and against several:

An objective

Do not forget to bring the Lightning Shield always active.

Burst phase

  • Macro Pre-Pull, when 1 second remains to pull.

Beads

With the arrival of Patch 6.2, we've had the ability to use class-specific Trinkets. In the case of the Elemental Shaman, Archimonde will give us Core of the Primal Elements, Increasing the damage and duration of Flame Shock by 150.10% (up to 210% for the Mythic version)

Equipping this trinket has two playstyle implications:

  • Elemental Fusion becomes a higher priority talent for unitarget damage and must be combined with Unleashed fury. Although it is not the best choice for all encounters, if you equip it, this is the combination of talents that adds the most profitability to your Clash of flames , but depending on your style of play you can continue using Storm Elemental Totem. ( I like it more)
  • In the case of multiple targets such as the Hellfire High Council encounter, increasing the duration of Clash of flames  allows you to use this ability on all three targets, without having to sacrifice  Earth shock.

Our second trinket will be Sethe's unflappable gaze, which will also make the perfect combination with Core of the Primal Elements. Until you get the latter, a very good option is to equip Splintered Soul Prism, since in the absence of a damage increase like that of  Core of the Primal Elements, gives us an all-brutal stat boost.

Personal opinion

The Elemental Shaman is still my preferred character in this patch, although we are not in the top in unitarget damage, we are a ruling class in Aoe damage. In addition, the Elemental Shaman has a rotation that is easy to understand and master.

The new Tier 18 is fantastic and helps us to maintain our sustained damage since it jumps very often, plus the visual effect… it breaks it: P!

If you still haven't gotten the legendary ring, get to it but now, you will notice a considerable power increase when equipping it.

Although our power when it comes to raid support is not what it once was, we are still a very useful class for any raid group, thanks to the wide range of abilities our totems bring to the table.

Regards, Anänyx.
