Interview with Karatechop, the doped gnome

Some of you may not have heard the gossip this month. Let's summarize what happened with Karatechop. This character from the Vek'nilash kingdom received an item that is supposed to be only available to developers since kill enemies near the wearer when using the object. This item was received when his account was restored from the hands of a GM and instead of returning it he decided to use it to raze Ulduar by 0,2.

The guys Project Lore They have done an interview with this player and the truth is that it is not wasted and I have decided to share it with you (translated) so that you can have a laugh.

ProjectLore: With all the criticism you've received, would you do things differently? Or would you do it again for fun?

Karatechop: I have played World of Warcraft for about 4 years and it has always been for fun. Given the choice, I would always choose Fun. Having Martin Fury is something that I think no player can have more. In my 4 years of WoW I have never heard a normal player receive such an item, so I doubt it will happen again. In the event that the situation happened again, it would not do it again. I used it for fun but at the cost of nearly destroying my sorority mates. After all, the objects as they come they go, but the companions and friends are to keep them.

PL: Knowing that you would be banned, would you put your account and that of your brotherhood members above an experience that you will only have once in your life?

Karatechop: Considering that guild members who were not involved have already been pardoned by Blizzard, I would advise my guild members that they could ban them with me and would do so again being consistent with the risks involved. Without banning those who did not participate in the run to Ulduar, I would like it to happen again.

PL: You claim that you have played for more than 4 years. Shouldn't you have realized that something was wrong if you received that item? I am sure that an object with similar characteristics is not left to anyone to use its power.

Karatechop: The Shirt came from Blizzard so I thought they wanted Leroyspelt (the player who originally received the shirt) to have some compensation as he hadn't been able to enjoy his player for several months. At first we thought it was a mistake but the fact that it had 100 charges made us think it was a compensation to have fun.

PL: Why didn't your partner Martin Fury use it instead of giving it to you?

Karatechop: Well I'm the Tank and I can get close enough to use it on Ulduar in heroic mode.

PL: Which bosses have you killed with the 14 charges you have spent?

Karatechop: 4 charges were not used for bosses, the others were for Sartharion (25) +2 Dracos, Malygos in heroic mode (we could not get the loot since dying before riding the mounts is impossible) and the rest we use them in some bosses from Ulduar.

PL: Well, you've certainly broken the game by fighting Malygos like that.

Karatechop: We have created a motto for this "We arrived, we saw and we read it"

PL: Is there something you wanted to do with Martin Fury that you didn't have a chance to complete? We know you have achieved some achievements with this item, did you get any loot?

Karatechop: I am curious to see how it would have worked in a PvP environment, I would like to enter the Alterac Valley and take out the captains by myself or maybe win some Arenas. Also I wish I could have finished Ulduar because it would have been banned anyway.

PL: You mentioned that some members of your guild have their accounts locked. Has it been one of those who played the joke on them? Are they back to normal? Have they forgiven you?

Karatechop: The issue of the ban is not entirely clear. Blizzard simply banned any guild members who were logged in while raiding Ulduar instead of those who had the raid ID stored. I know that players who said they weren't in the band at the time have been able to get back into the game but those who participated have a lot of difficulty getting back. Blizzard is treating this on a case-by-case, account-by-account basis. Despite the problems caused to the members of the brotherhood, they stand behind me. Some are angry but the general consensus is that we did it for fun and we really had fun.

PL: People on both sides of the problem know that Blizzard did something wrong by sending that item to your friend. During all the times you've talked to Blizzard, have they admitted any fault?

Karatechop: In the mail I received they did not admit any fault. Here is the email:

“The player,« Karatechop »from the« Vek'nilash »realm has received an item (inaccessible in normal playstyle) from another player and trivialized the World of Warcraft raid content by exploiting this item. As a result of this, this player has helped to obtain items and achievements through the use of this item which is not obtainable by "normal" methods. The player's action is an unfair disadvantage over other players. As a result of the violation of the World of Warcraft Terms of Use, this account will be permanently closed. "

PL: Hmm, I wonder what would have happened if your partner, the original owner, had used it instead of you. The reason they have given you in the mail would not make sense in that case.

Karatechop: We can only assume that Blizzard would have penalized him as "justly" as they penalized me.

PL: What would a just punishment be for you?

Karatechop: In the 4 years that I have played, I have never committed an infraction. I would like these things to be taken into consideration. Perhaps the fairest thing would have been to remove the achievements and loot and a maximum of 2 weeks of ban since all the "damage" we have done is eliminated that way.

PL: What is your position on other EULA violations like buying gold or accounts and using bot programs like MMO-Glider.

Karatechop: I do not agree with programs that "collect" information from Blizzard or automate parts of the game as I see them as an unfair advantage. On the issue of buying gold, I think it should be debated. Personally, I think that casual gamers who work 40 hours a week and only have time to play a couple of hours in the afternoon should be able to buy gold so they don't have the only time they have to play, farming for that epic mount or Reputation bounty that hardcore gamers can use to make bands afterward. Making casual gamers richer allows them to raid more and have fun, which is what World of Warcraft is all about, after all. On the other hand, I have seen videos of Asian / Chinese children being forced to play World of Warcraft to get gold. I definitely don't agree with that. I would love for Blizzard to have its own gold store.

PL: Do you think the incident will have any effects on how Blizzard creates its rules?

Karatechop: I really doubt it. I'm sure they have a pretty good legal team that covers all the clauses and loopholes in any legal document that you have to sign before creating your World of Warcraft account. However, I think Blizzard will make some adjustments to the GM interface to include some kind of confirmation when it comes to sending items to players.

PL: What are you going to do now? Are you going to try another MMO like Champions Online or are you going to move to a different genre? Do you have plans to get closer to The Marvel Family (the brotherhood I was in)?

Karatechop: Nothing at the moment. I'm thinking of going back to World of Warcraft as I still have gold and good friends to help me get up to 80 again so it wouldn't be as difficult as before.

PL: Do you plan to do something with your recognition or are you going to move on from it?

Karatechop: We all know what happened to Leeroy Jenkins he went to Jeopardy (an american program). I don't plan to go that far, I don't even think I can. Answering a few questions occasionally in PL and Wowinsider would be enough for me.

PL: At least, was the god mode worth it?

Karatechop: Undoubtedly. I'll get to level 80 again, but I won't be able to have god mode again.

PL: Thanks for your time, good luck in your future projects.

Well ... It's long! What do you think? Would you have done the same as him? Will we see Karatechop at Blizzcon as it already happened with Leeroy Jenkins?
