Today rummaging a bit and reading through the official World of Warcraft website I found a very interesting article about Papercraft, paper crafts, by an impressive author.

This Week paper crafts based on the Wow.

At article presentation of Pascal we find an interview and some images of his works. Here is a small excerpt from that interview. And don't forget to visit their website: wowpapercraft. It is in English but the instructions for the downloadable designs are perfectly understandable.

First of all, can you tell us something about yourself?

Well… my name is Pascal and I have several blogs about origami, although the main one is inspired by World of Warcraft. I generally display my designs and thumbnails, although I also highlight other people's creations. I live in Montreal, I am 20 years old and I am a graphic designer who spends too much time with video games… but I have the feeling of not being the only one.

How did you come up with the idea of creating a blog dedicated to World of Warcraft and origami?

As a child, I did some origami, but I've only been creating paper shapes for a year. I came across origami by chance, while browsing forums looking for examples of paper toys, and fell in love with the concept immediately. Despite the demand, there were very few works on World of Warcraft, and with my basic knowledge of 3D design I realized that it would be great to make my own models inspired by this universe. I posted my designs on the forums and finding very positive reviews I decided to create my own blog.

The first prototypes were very basic, like the mailbox and the famous Bad Mojo Mask. After the turtle and the baby panda, I felt like making more complex and sophisticated models, and even designing my own characters. The World of Warcraft universe is so rich in content that you can find any type of theme, which is why it is such a good source of inspiration if you are looking for models ... from the modest Christmas stockings to the mythical eight-armed monster.

Your blog gathers your own creations and those of other paper lovers. How would you define this community?

I must confess that this hobby can be surprising, being so rare. But its popularity grows over the years, with the expansion of the Internet and all the help you can find browsing. This hobby is widespread in Asia, where you can even find magazines dedicated to origami or find paper models in stores, inspired by famous anime characters. It is not a new phenomenon, surely many of you will remember having found origami figures in magazines from years ago.

It is a very creative, flexible and cosmopolitan community. You can find any type of model and people know each other all over the world as they share a passion for origami. There are several free access web pages that collect the latest creations, on these pages you can exchange opinions and find all kinds of designs and models.
