Of the orcs and humans of Warcraft

Sargeras was the greatest warrior of the divine titans - the collection of cosmic entities responsible for shaping and ordering the universe - but he succumbed to the insatiable corruption of the Nether Void, a plane between worlds composed of chaotic magics, while trying to protect his own. brothers of depravity. Convinced that the only way to save the universe from the demonic inhabitants of the Void was to purge it, he decided to unleash his power on the cosmos in order to annihilate all life. To do this, he forged the demonic Burning Legion. Following a failed attack on Azeroth XNUMX years ago, Sargeras saw an opportunity to strike another blow to the world and possessed the wizard Medivh in order to use his power to provoke a war between worlds that would bring down Azeroth.

Corrupted by the evil magics of Sargeras, Medivh, the last of an ancient line of powerful wizards and a friend of the kings of Stormwind, sought to orchestrate the downfall of Azeroth. In the distant world of Draenor he encountered a kindred spirit, the mighty warlock Gul'dan. Using heretical magic, this vile orc taught his comrades to channel demonic energy. His influence over the orcs reached its peak when he convinced them to drink the blood of the demon Mannoroth, promising invincibility in exchange for obedience. The demon's blood poisoned the orcs' minds, transforming them into an army consumed by bloodlust and controlled from the shadows by Gul'dan and his henchman, the Warchief Blackhand.

Medivh struck a deal with his new ally: in exchange for a promise to turn Gul'dan into a god, the warlock would create a portal between the humans' home, Azeroth, and his own planet, Draenor. In this way the Dark Portal was opened for the first time, and the Horde stormed to confront the humans of Azeroth.

The Orcish Horde attacked the lands of the humans, laying waste to entire cities, leaving nothing but ruins in their wake. For years, orcs and humans fought brutal skirmishes while waiting for the right moment to launch an all-out attack. Three years after the opening of the Dark Portal, the Horde marched on the city of Stormwind. Although Anduin Lothar, commander of the king, managed to repel the first attack, the Horde withdrew to regroup and look for a way to deal the final blow to the human kingdom.

Meanwhile, Medivh's apprentice Khadgar revealed to King Llane and Anduin Lothar that their master had been corrupted by the dark forces and thus had cast the Horde on Azeroth. With the help of Khadgar, Lothar killed Medivh and banished the spirit of Sargeras from within him to the Void. Gul'dan, who had entered Medivh's mind prior to his death seeking information, was left in a coma due to the wizard's death.

The great orc chief Orgrim Doomhammer was very unhappy with Gul'dan and Blackhand's way of leading the Horde. Therefore, when he saw the opportunity, he challenged Blackhand for the title of warchief, in a fight from which he would emerge victorious.

United under the banner of Doomhammer, the Horde once again marched on Stormwind. While the city was under siege, Garona Half-Orc, a former ally of the humans working covertly in the service of the Shadow Council of Gul'dan, ensured the Orcish victory and, following the Council's orders, ended the life of the King Llane. The morale of Stormwind's army died with him and the city fell to the Horde. Anduin Lothar declared the war lost and, together with the rest of the population of Stormwind, crossed the Mare Magnum.

They turn the tables on Warcraft II

Desperate, Lothar and the survivors of the siege of Stormwind fled north for help. There, they sought the support of the ruler of the powerful human kingdom of Lordaeron, King Terenas Menethil II. The refugees were living proof of the threat posed by the Horde. Unable to deny the existence of the danger to Azeroth's lives, King Terenas summoned the leaders of the human kingdoms to prepare a counterattack against the Horde. Seven nations united under one banner for the first time in three thousand years, in what would become known as the Alliance of Lordaeron.

Gul'dan, who had just awakened from the magical coma caused by Medivh's death, struck a deal with the Horde's new warchief to suppress the Shadow Council in exchange for staying alive. Although he distrusted the witcher, Doomhammer left him alive and allowed him to found his own clan to strengthen the ranks of the Horde. With the invaluable help of the recruited Amani trolls and the Demon Soul - an ancient artifact they had recently discovered that was capable of controlling dragons - the orcs prepared to fall on what was left of the human nations.

As the Horde prepared to march on their foes, Lothar, who had won the favor of the Ironforge dwarves and claimed his right as the last descendant of the Arathi line to call upon the high elves of Quel'Thalas, managed to rally the various races of Lordaeron. Committed by an ancient blood oath to Lothar's relatives, King Anasterian Sunwalker sent a small contingent led by Forest Captain Alleria Windrunner in support of Lordaeron.

Orgrim Doomhammer led the Horde north, leaving behind a path of destruction as he followed the survivors of Stormwind to Lordaeron and smashed everything in his way. Despite the fact that victory seemed imminent as the orc forces approached Lordaeron, the city would live to see the final days of the Second War thanks to the rifts that had arisen in the Horde ranks. When Doomhammer and his army set out to attack the heart of the Alliance, they received terrible news: Gul'dan had abandoned his orc comrades and taken half his army with him in order to search for the legendary Tomb of Sargeras and become a god.

Gul'dan's betrayal provided the Alliance with the opportunity it needed to turn the tide of war. Anduin Lothar's troops rallied and drove the Horde from the lands of Lordaeron to the volcanic stronghold of Blackrock Summit to the south. Reluctant to accept defeat, Doomhammer carried out one last attack on the humans and ended Lothar's life in a suicidal charge.

With Lothar's death, his lieutenant Turalyon took the post of commander and called on his brothers to persevere and keep fighting to honor the fallen commander's legacy. His battle cry was so inspiring that the enraged humans forced their way through the ranks of the Horde, dispersing their army, and taking countless prisoners. The Alliance sent them to prison camps, where they were left to fend for themselves.

Thus the last flames of the Second War were consumed and peace was imposed in a land that had long been ravaged by conflict. In the years after the defeat of the Horde, the Alliance fragmented, the fragile pact that had united them broken by their mutual despair. Thus, the Kingdom of Lordaeron was forced to face an uncertain future alone.

Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos It begins almost 13 years after the defeat of the Horde, when the conflict is rekindled.
