Aloha! Today I bring you the guide for the Death Knight of Adriielito - C'Thun, Frost specialization, in which I will show you which are the best talents for this patch and the equipment to unleash the full potential of this specialization.
Death Knight Frost
The Death Knights are powerful plague champions known for using their Runeblades to sow disease on their adversaries, dealing devastating blows and resurrecting the fallen as loyal minions.
Strengths
- It does quite a bit of sustained damage.
- Deals massive burst damage.
Weak points
- It is one of the least mobile specs in the game, despite having "Spectral Step".
- He has nothing special that he can offer to a raid, except his resurrection in combat which, together with the Druid, are the only ones who possess it.
Modifications in patch 7.3.5
- There have been no major changes in this patch.
Modifications in patch 7.3
- Some talents have been modified.
- "Horn of Winter" now has a 45s cooldown (down from 30s).
- "Volatile Shield" y "Disintegration" have been modified.
Talents
On this occasion, I bring you several ways to face your enemies, you can choose the one that best suits your possibilities and tastes.
-Talents in yellow: they can become the best depending on which fights, in this case, they are the best for single-objective encounters.
-Talents in blue: you can choose them in case you do not like the ones that appear in yellow, there will not be much difference in the DPS.
-Talents in green: these talents are the best to do much more damage in areas, that is, encounters with more than three objectives.
- Level 56: Runic Attenuation.
- Level 57: Freezing Fog.
- Level 58: Setello.
- Level 60: Winter is coming.
- Level 75: Permanent frost.
- Level 90: Impending Storm.
- Level 100: Disintegration.
lvl 56
- Devastating Strikes (Passive Effect): If there are 5 stacks of "Ice Blade" on the target, "Frost Strike" will consume them, dealing 60% more damage.
- Frozen Talons (Passive Effect): "Frost Strike" also increases your melee attack speed by 12% for 6s. It stacks up to 3 times.
- Runic Attenuation (Passive Effect): Auto attacks generate 1 point of runic power.
In this branch, we must take into account several options.
Devastating Strikes (Passive Effect)Despite being a very attractive starting option due to the large percentage of extra damage it gives us, it does not end up renting at all. As the description of "Ice blade" indicates, having this effect on the target grants us, for each stack, 19% more extra damage with our frost abilities, in addition to increasing its vulnerability by 3%. Having the 5 marks on the target gives us a great sustained damage capacity that with this talent we would not have.
Frozen Talons (Passive Effect) It is not a bad option but, if possible, Runic Attenuation (Passive Effect) it is a better option.
Runic Attenuation (Passive Effect) It is a good talent if we are facing a single target, since we are constantly attacking it and generating runic power practically every second. Despite seeming to be a fairly low figure, as sustained damage it is the best option. The number of times we use "Frost Strike" in an encounter is greater with this talent.
lvl 57
- Freezing Fog (Passive Effect)Howling Blast and Frost Rush deal 20% increased damage.
- Killer Efficiency (Passive Effect): Consuming the Killing Machine effect has a 50% chance to cause you to gain 1 rune.
- Horn of Winter (Instant / 45s cooldown): You blow the Horn of Winter, gain 2 runes and generate 20 points of runic power.
In this case, Freezing Fog (Passive Effect) it can be the best option in the whole branch, although the other two options should not be ruled out. This talent serves both areas and a single target.
Killer Efficiency (Passive Effect) It can be a good talent if you are lucky enough to always generate 1 rune for each Killing Machine you use throughout the encounter. However, we cannot trust the percentages and perhaps choosing another talent from the same branch is the best option.
Horn of Winter (Instant / 45s cooldown) I personally would not use this talent but it has great potential when it comes to fighting. Usually you will always reach a point where you will have to wait at least a couple of seconds until one of the first runes you have spent recovers. This talent eliminates those seconds of inactivity so you can continue to perform a stable dps.
lvl 58
- Setello (Passive effect): Your "Frost Strike" and "Ravage" critical strikes reduce the remaining cooldown of "Pillar of Frost" by 1,0s.
- Glacial Advance (Instant / 15s Cooldown / Consumes 1 Rune): Summons advancing glacial spikes from the ground, each dealing X damage (197 at level 945) of Frost to enemies near their point of eruption.
- Avalanche (Passive effect): While "Pillar of Frost" is active, your melee critical hits cause jagged icicles to fall on nearby enemies, dealing X damage (26 395 at level 110) of Frost.
On this occasion, the choice is much easier.
Setello (Passive effect) It is the talent that we will use for single-target encounters, since we reduced the cooldown of Pillar of Frost, doing much more sustained damage.
Glacial Advance (Instant / 15s Cooldown / Consumes 1 Rune) I do not recommend it since, despite being a talent with a low cooldown, it has the cost of 1 rune. Maybe it's best to save it to spend on Howling Blast.
Avalanche (Passive effect) perhaps the best talent in this branch to do more damage in area. I recommend it if what you are looking for is to appear in first position in the area damage counts.
lvl 60
- Might of the Abomination (Passive Effect): "Ravage" critical strikes have a 20% chance to knock down inferior enemies and stun them for 2s. Players are stunned for 5s.
- Blinding Hail (Instant / 1min cooldown): Targets in a cone in front of you are blinded, causing them to wander disoriented for 4s. Damage can cancel the effect.
- Winter is coming (Passive effect): Enemies hit 5 times by "Remorseless Winter" while your "Pillar of Frost" is active are stunned for 4s.
Here you can choose the talent that seems most useful or you like the most. My favorite is Winter is coming (Passive effect) as I stun all nearby enemies.
lvl 75
- Volatile Shield (Passive Effect): Your "Anti-Magic Shell" absorbs 35% more damage and generates 100% more runic power.
- Permanent Frost (Passive Effect): When you deal damage with auto attacks, you gain an absorb shield equal to 100% of the damage dealt.
- Relentless Attack (Passive Effect): While in combat with no enemy within 8 meters, you gain "Relentless Strike" every 1s. Each stack causes your next auto attack to deal X more damage (52 at level 785) of frost.
Volatile Shield (Passive Effect) It is used to last longer against powerful spells, it is usually used in PVP.
Permanent Frost (Passive Effect) It is the best talent for PVE since we are mitigating some of the damage that they inflict on us. This talent along with "Frozen Talons" can be good enough to last much longer.
Relentless Attack (Passive Effect) I do not recommend this talent as it will not do us any good if we are not at a medium distance from our goal. We seek to do as much damage as possible, perhaps it is good in encounters where we have to move at a certain distance from the enemy but ... it is still not a good option.
lvl 90
- Frost Scythe (Instant / Consumes 1 rune): A sweeping attack that hits all enemies in front of you, dealing X damage (65 357 at level 110) of frost. This attack benefits from "Killing Machine". Critical hits with "Frost Scythe" deal 4 times normal damage.
- Frozen Pulse (Passive Effect): As long as you have less than 2 full runes, your auto attacks will radiate intense cold, dealing X damage (21 116 at level 110) of frost to all nearby enemies.
- Impending Storm (Passive Effect): Each rune spent during "Remorseless Winter" increases its damage by 15% and extends its duration by 0.5 sec.
The best option to do a lot of damage in areas is without a doubt Frost Scythe (Instant / Consumes 1 rune). I've personally used it and it has great potential when used against multiple targets. Using this ability when we have Killing Machine active will inflict 4 times its damage, use it correctly.
Frozen Pulse (Passive Effect) it can also turn out to be a good talent if used in the right way, still, to do more damage in area, I recommend Frost Scythe (Instant / Consumes 1 rune) as it has greater potential.
Impending Storm (Passive Effect) It is the talent that I would use for both areas and for a single objective. If you're not totally sure which one to use or just want to focus on single-target encounters, Impending Storm (Passive Effect) it is your talent.
lvl 100
- Disintegration (Instant / 1,5 min cooldown): For the next 10s, "Frost Strike" and "Howling Blast" grant "Killing Machine", and "Ravage" costs 1 less rune.
- Sindragosa's Breath (Instant / 2 min cooldown / 15 Runic Power per second): Continuously inflicts X damage (166 804 at level 110) of Shadowfrost every 1s to enemies in a cone in front of you. Deals reduced damage to secondary targets. You will continue to breathe until runic power is depleted or you cancel the effect.
- Hungry Rune Weapon (Instant / 3 min cooldown): Empowers your rune weapon, causing you to gain 1 rune and 5 runic power points instantly and every 1,5s. Also grants 20% haste for 12 seconds.
This time around, the talent that I would use for single-target encounters would be Disintegration (Instant / 1,5 min cooldown). By activating it and using the abilities described above, we get Killing Machine. This effect empowers our next Ravage by making it a critical hit. Yes Disintegration (Instant / 1,5 min cooldown) It lasts 10 seconds, we will have more than enough time to obtain this effect a couple of times and land quite a few critical hits. Typically this talent is used to deal more burst damage at the start of the encounter.
If instead you prefer to do more damage in area, Sindragosa's Breath (Instant / 2 min cooldown / 15 Runic Power per second) It is a talent that suits you like a glove. When filling the runic power bar, using this ability will consistently deal a lot of damage in front of you. If while using this ability you continue to fill your power bar, Sindragosa's Breath (Instant / 2 min cooldown / 15 Runic Power per second) it could remain active for a few more seconds.
On this occasion, Hungry Rune Weapon (Instant / 3 min cooldown) we would only use it when we were in a tight spot and didn't have many other options to continue dealing damage. In my opinion, replacing the Empower Rune Weapon ability is not recommended since, in this case, the talent is only providing you with 1 rune, haste, and runic power when the previous bliss is regenerating all the runes with which you can obtain much more potential.
Artefact
Before attaching the image that will help you to make the best paths in your artifact weapon, I must warn you that at level 110 you will directly unlock Artifact Knowledge at level 41, obtaining an artifact point multiplier of 5.200.000 %. Perhaps it is best to wait at maximum level to worry about the roads and not waste a lot of time in this regard.

Practical tips
- At the beginning of a meeting, it is important to use "Disintegration" for Killing machine every time we use Howling Blast o "Frost Strike".
- "Winter with no regrets" should be used when there are more targets around you. It is best not to waste a rune if there is only one target in the encounter.
- It is important to use "Anti-Magic Shield" at the right time, that is, when powerful spells are being performed and your life is not capped, it is best to use this ability.
- "Fortitude bound to ice" It is a good cd to remove the possible stuns that they use against us in addition to reducing the damage we receive by 20% during 8s.
- «Mental freeze» It is a cut like any other, use it to interrupt powerful spells.
- "Sindragosa's Fury" it is a faculty that you must save for the best moment. I usually use it when a lot of adds appear in encounters, as it deals devastating siege damage. Considering that it is every 5 min, you can use it at the beginning of an encounter if no more targets will appear in combat, and hopefully, it will give you time to launch it a second time.
- "Empower Rune Weapon" it will be a faculty that we will keep until the last moment when we look totally dry. When we have neither runic power nor runes available, it will be the best time to spend this ability and replenish all your runes instantly.
- As a last tip, when activating Killing machine, do not hesitate for a second to use this faculty.
- When activated "White frost", The next Howling Blast we use will not cost runes and will deal 300% more damage.
- "Pillar of Frost" It is another ability that we must keep in mind throughout the fight since its cooldown is 1 minute or less if we have the appropriate talent. In my case, I have a macro where I have added both "Devastate" as "Pillar of Frost", activating instantly and without having to worry during combat of having to activate it every minute.
