Hello guys. Today I bring you a guide on the Elemental Shaman in World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth.

Elemental shaman

Shamans are spirit guides and practitioners not of the divine, but of the elementals themselves. Unlike other mystics, shamans commune with forces that are not strictly benevolent. The elements are chaotic and if left to their own devices, they fight each other with endless primal fury. The shaman's job is to balance that chaos. Acting as moderators between earth, fire, water, and air, shamans invoke totems that rally the elements to support the shaman's allies or to punish those who threaten them. During combat, the shaman places control and damage totems on the ground to maximize their effectiveness and make things more difficult for enemies. The shaman's elemental strength can be used to damage enemies from afar with lightning strikes, earthquakes, or lava bursts.

In this guide we will talk about the Elemental Shaman's talents, abilities, and rotation in Patch 8.0.1. As I always tell you in all my guides, this is an orientation on how you can take an elemental Shaman and get performance from him, but with the use of his character each player acquires the skill and way of playing appropriate to him and decides at all times what talents and skills to use. No guide is to the letter, but if you start now with your new Elemental Shaman or are somewhat lost, this guide will come in handy. ;).
I also have to tell you that all this can change at any time both on my part and because some talents or abilities change throughout the expansion. If that happens, I will keep you posted.

Talents

Although I am still adjusting to the changes we have had, here is the build of the talents that I will use with my Fire Mage during patch 8.0.1. In any case, at the moment we have a lot of ease to be able to change talents depending on the boss we are going to face, so if one of them is not to your liking, you can try any other that you think may be better for you.

  • 15 level: Echo of the elements
  • 30 level: Totem Mastery
  • 45 level: Wolf Spirit / Static Charge
  • 60 level: Liquid Magma Totem
  • 75 level: Guardian of Nature
  • 90 level: Primal Elementalist
  • 100 level: Ascension / Storm Guard

Level One

  • Exposed elements: Ground Shock now increases the damage of your next Lightning Bolt against the target by 75%.
  • Echo of the elements: Lava Burst now has 2 charges. Effects that reset its remaining cooldown will instead grant 1 charge.
  • Elemental blast: Gathers the pure energy of the elements, dealing (63% of Spell power) p. Elemental damage and increases your Critical Strike, Haste, or Mastery by 366. for 10 sec.

I have opted for Echo of the elements because it seems to me the best talent of the three that we have to choose from.

Level One

  • Replica: Your spells have a 25% chance to return the Maelstrom spent on them.
  • Master of the Elements: Casting Lava Burst increases the damage of your next Nature or Frost spell by 20%.
  • Totem Mastery: Summons four totems that increase your combat capabilities for 2 min.
    • Resonance Totem: Generates 1 point. maelstrom every 1 s.
    • Storm Totem: Increases the chance for Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning to trigger Elemental Overload by 5%.
    • Ember Totem: Increases Flame Shock damage over time by 10%.
    • Tailwind Totem: Increases your Haste by 2%.

I have chosen Totem Mastery because it goes very well in all the meetings, although Master of the Elements it can also be viable in single target encounters.

Level One

  • Wolf spirit: While transformed into a ghostly wolf, your movement speed is increased by 5% and damage is reduced by 5% every 1 sec. The effect stacks up to 4 times.
  • Earth shield: Protects the target with an earth shield that heals them for [(25% of Spell power) * (1.1)] p. when he takes damage and increases your healing on him by 10%. 9 charges. This healing only occurs once every few seconds. Earth Shield cannot be used on more than one target at a time.
  • Static charge: Reduces the cooldown of Empowering Totem by 5 seconds for each enemy it stuns, up to a maximum reduction of 20 seconds.

I have opted for Wolf spirit in most encounters and Static charge in encounters where I need to use stuns very often.

Level One

  • High voltage: Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning have a 50% normal chance to cause a second Elemental Overload.
  • Storm elemental: Summons a Greater Storm Elemental that fires gusts of wind that damage the shaman's enemies for 30 sec. While the Storm Elemental is active, each time you cast Lightning Bolt or Chain Lightning, the cast time of Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning is reduced by 3%. Stacks up to 20 times.
  • Liquid Magma Totem: Summons a totem at the targeted location for 15 sec that hurls liquid magma at a random nearby target every 1 sec, inflicting [(15% of Spell power) * (1.02)]. Fire damage to all enemies within 8 yards.

I have chosen Liquid Magma Totem because it works very well in all kinds of encounters.

Level One

  • Guardian of Nature: When your health drops below 35%, you instantly heal for 20% of your maximum health. It can only happen once every 45 seconds.
  • Ancestral guide: Over the next 10 sec, 25% of your damage and healing heals up to a maximum of 3 nearby injured party or raid members.
  • Wind Charge Totem: Summons a totem at the targeted location for 15 sec that continuously grants 60% increased movement speed to all allies who pass within 10 yards for 5 sec.

Although I have chosen Guardian of Nature Also and depending on the encounters we can use one of the other two talents.

Level One

  • Rage of the earth: Your damaging spells cause the land around you to come to your aid for 6 sec, repeatedly dealing (13.75% of Spell power) damage. Nature damage to the target that took your last attack.
  • Primal ElementalistYour Earth, Fire, and Storm elementals are made up of primal elementals 80% more powerful than normal elementals and have extra abilities. Also, you get direct control over them.
  • Frostbite: Throws icy ice at the target, dealing (55% of Spell power) p. Frost damage and causes your next 4 Frost Shock to deal 100% more damage. Generates 15 p. maelstrom.

Here I have chosen without hesitation Primal Elementalist for all kinds of encounters.

Level One

  • Unlimited power: When your spells cause Elemental Overload, you gain 2% haste for 10 sec. Getting a stack does not reset the duration.
  • Storm Guard: Charge yourself with Lightning, causing your next 2 Lightning Bolts or Chains of Lightning to instantly fire and activate an Elemental Overload against each target.
  • Ascension: Transform into a flame ascendant for 15 sec, replacing Chain Lightning with Lava Beam and removing the cooldown of Lava Burst and increasing its damage by an amount equal to your critical strike chance.

I have chosen Ascension for most encounters and Storm guard for encounters with various objectives.

Best combat time to use Fire elemental is together with Heroism, Blood lust o Temporal distortion.

Do not use both elementals at the same time.

Azerite Powers

Head: Immortal Visionary's Crest

  • Titans Archive: Your armor collects and analyzes combat information every 5 seconds, increasing your primary stat by 6. Stacks up to 20 times. Information is lost while you are not in combat.
  • Overwhelming power: Your damaging abilities have a chance to grant you 25 stacks of Overwhelming Power. Each stack of Overwhelming Power grants you 16. of haste. A stack of Overwhelming Power is removed every 1 sec or whenever you take damage.
  • Vampiric speed: When an enemy you have dealt damage to is killed, you heal for 2880. and you win 61 p. speed for 6 sec.

Chest: Quality Assured Mail Vest

  • Titans Archive: Your armor collects and analyzes combat information every 5 seconds, increasing your primary stat by 6. Stacks up to 20 times. Information is lost while you are not in combat.
  • Unstable flames: Your damaging abilities have a chance to grant you 45. Critical Strike Rating for 5 sec. This effect stacks a maximum of 5 times.
  • Pack spirit: While Ghost Wolf is active, heal for 1077. every 1 s.

Shoulder: Flame Sterilized Spaulders/Spaulders of Coagulated Viscus

  • Titans Archive: Your armor collects and analyzes combat information every 5 seconds, increasing your primary stat by 6. Stacks up to 20 times. Information is lost while you are not in combat.
  • Elemental swirl: Your damaging abilities have a chance to trigger Elemental Whirlpool, increasing by 169. your Critical Strike, Haste, Mastery, or Versatility for 10 sec.
  • Impassive face: When you take damage, you heal 2020 p. of health. It can only happen once every 6 seconds.
  • Laser matrix: Your spells and abilities have a chance to launch a barrage of lasers, dealing 2835. Arcane damage dealt to all enemies, restoring 5073. health divided among wounded allies. Allows Recreation Matrix in Uldir.
  • Earth bond: Azerite energy flows within you for up to 60. from the main stat and then lowers them down to 10. of the main statistic. The cycle repeats every 6 s.
  • Far walker: Increases your movement speed by 13% of your highest secondary stat, up to 4%.

Depending on the equipment we carry we also have other good options such as: Ancestral resonance, Fiery potential, Lava crash, Natural harmony, Rezan's Fury.

Useful addons

  • Recount/Skada Damage Meter - Addon to measure dps, agro generated, deaths, healings, damage received, etc.
  • Deadly Boss Mods - Addon that alerts us to the abilities of the gang leaders.
  • weakauras - It graphically shows us information about the combat.
  • Omen - Aggro meter.
  • ElvUI - Addon that modifies our entire interface.
  • Bartender4/dominos - Addon to customize the action bars, add shortcuts to the keys, etc.
  • bigwigs - It indicates the times of all the skills of each boss.
  • simulation craft - To do simulations with our characters.
  • weakauras2: improves the interface of our characters.
