Frost Mage - PVE Guide - Patch 7.3.5

frost magician cover 7.3.5

Hey good! How is life for Azeroth? Today we bring you the Frost Mage guide with basic tips for the class, recommended gems and enchantments, talents and, of course, the best equipment for this patch. Let's get started!

Frost Mage

A magician is anyone who has dedicated his entire life to worldly and arcane knowledge since it is his understanding of the world that allows him to twist it to create unnatural or arcane magic.

Strengths

  • Has great potential for damage in single-target encounters.
  • His area damage is decent.
  • It has great mobility.
  • Has the ability to root or stun.
  • It's a good spec for clearing low health targets at high speed.
  • Its sustained damage is pretty good.

Weak points

  • It is one of the classes with the lowest percentage of life in the game, therefore it has defensive abilities such as "Invisibility" or "Ice Block".
  • Character mobility is tied to a fairly long cooldown so eliminating them after wasting these abilities won't be a big deal.
  • Their burst damage can be dramatically lower if we don't pick the right talents.

Modifications in patch 7.3.5

  • There have been no changes in this patch.

Talents

Following the same line as the DK Frost guide, I will bring you several ways to face your enemies and different ways to develop the encounters, be it massive targets or just single-target encounters. As in the previous guide, choose the ones that you like the most or are close to your possibilities.

-Talents in yellow: they can become the best depending on which fights, in this case, they are the best for single-objective encounters.
-Talents in blue: you can choose them in case you do not like the ones that appear in yellow, there will not be much difference in the DPS.
-Talents in green: these talents are the best to do much more damage in areas, that is, encounters with more than three objectives.

  • Level 15: Lonely Winter
  • Level 30: Twinkle
  • Level 45: Enchanter's Flow
  • Level 60: Shattered Ice
  • Level 75: Icy Winds
  • Level 90: Arctic Gale
  • Level 100: Thermal vacuum

Frost Mage Talents 7.3.5

lvl 15

  • Frost ray: For the next 10 sec, you can channel a beam of icy power at an enemy, slowing movement by 50% and dealing (269.1% ability power). Frost damage every 1 sec. Each time Frostbolt deals damage, its damage is increased by 20%.
  • Lonely winter: You can no longer summon your Water Elemental, but Frostbolt, Ice Lance, Flurry, and Frozen Orb deal 25% more damage.
  • Down to the bone: Whenever you attempt to cool a target, you gain Down to the Bone, increasing your Frost damage you deal by 0.5% for 8 sec. Stacks up to 12 times.

Lonely winter It will be the talent that we will choose in this first branch of talents because, compared to the other two, this is the most recommended option.

lvl 30

  • Scintillation: Teleports you 20m forward unless there is an obstacle. It is not affected by the global cooldown and can be cast at the same time as other spells.
  • Ice tops: Makes your next wizard spell with a casting time of less than 10 seconds cast on the move. It is unaffected by the global cooldown and can be cast while other spells are being cast. It has a maximum of 3 charges.
  • Glacial isolation: Ice Barrier increases your armor by 100% while active. Ice Block applies Ice Barrier to you when it vanishes.

So much Scintillation as Ice tops they are good options for this branch. It really doesn't matter too much.

Glacial isolationHowever, it can become more useful depending on the bosses you face.

lvl 45

Avalanche (Passive effect) it is the best talent for this branch since it is a talent to increase the sustained damage. However, Glacial Advance (Instant / 15s Cooldown / Consumes 1 Rune) It is also a recommended talent if what we want is to add much more damage to our burst.

Setello (Passive effect) instead… we shouldn't use it to raid. Not with this specialization, at least. The loss of damage is very noticeable.

lvl 60

  • Ice nova: Generates a whirlwind of icy wind around the target ally or enemy, dealing (526.5% ability power) p. Frost damage to all enemies within 8 yards and Freezes them for 2 sec. A primary enemy target takes 100% more damage. Maximum 2 charges.
  • Icy touch: Increases your chance to generate Fingers of Frost charges by 40%.
  • Fragmented ice: Ice Lance and Icicles now deal 5% more damage and hit a second nearby target, dealing 80% of their damage. Your Glacial Pick also hits a second nearby target for 80% of their damage

Fragmented ice is the best option for this branch of talents.

Icy touch this talent is of little use in PVE. It is not a bad option but a lot of damage is lost compared to the previous one. It can be used for single target encounters but I will explain why it is not that useful. The reason why I say it is because, that 40% that is supposed to increase, is not 12% of the faculty + 40% of the talent, it is 40% more than that 12%, that is, in total 12% of faculty + 4.8% (40% of that 12%) = 16.8%

Ice nova It is a good option as long as we are not raiding. It is often used for leveling, world missions ... any non-raid activity.

lvl 75

In this branch you can choose the talent that you like the most.

Volatile Shield (Passive Effect) if you want to run away from someone or something, Permanent Frost (Passive Effect) if you want to freeze a large group of targets that are at a great distance and Ice Ward to root targets that are at a minimum distance from your position. Normally, none of the talents in this branch are used for raid as they are not very useful.

lvl 90

  • Frost bomb: Places a Frost Bomb on the target for 12 sec. Limited to 1 target. Ice Spears that benefit from Shatter will cause a wave of icy ice that deals (184.275% ability power) damage. Frost damage to the target and (115.128% ability power). Frost damage to all other enemies within 10 yards.
  • Frozen Pulse (Passive Effect): This talent affects Fireball on Fire Mage. 25% chance to explode on impact, dealing 50% additional damage to the target and all other enemies within 8 yards.
  • Arctic gale: Increases Blizzard's damage by 30% and its area of effect by 20%.

Frozen Pulse (Passive Effect) is the best talent for single-target matches.

Frost bomb it is not a talent to be used for raiding. However, it can be used in mythical or other activities.

Arctic gale This talent is used for encounters where there are more than two targets.

lvl 100

  • Thermal vacuum: The duration of Frozen Veins is increased by 10 sec. Using Ice Lance against frozen targets prolongs Icy Veins by 1 sec.
  • Glacial spike: Create a huge ice spike that merges with your current icicles. The spike impales the target for (1755% ability power). damage plus the damage stored by the icicles, freezing the target in place for 4 sec. Damage can disrupt the freeze effect. It takes 5 icicles to cast it. Passive: Ice Lance no longer casts icicles.
  • Comet rain: Summons a series of 7 ice kites to impact the target and around it. Each deals (152.1% ability power) p. Frost damage to all enemies within 6 yards of its impact.

Thermal vacuum It is the default talent that we should use under any circumstances since it offers a lot of potential for damage.

Glacial spike Although it is not a bad talent, it loses damage compared to the previous one.

Comet rain It is a great talent that is often used for encounters with more than three objectives. The damage dealt is huge, allowing us to quickly finish off the targets.

Artefact

Before attaching the image that will help you to make the best paths in your artifact weapon, I must warn you that at level 110 you will directly unlock Artifact Knowledge at level 41, obtaining an artifact point multiplier of 5.200.000 %. Perhaps it is best to wait at maximum level to worry about the roads and not waste a lot of time in this regard.

Practical tips

  • The rotation for this mage specialization is as follows: Rune of Power (Talent)> Frozen Orb> Frozen Veins> Ice Lance (when the Frost Fingers buff is active)> Ebony Bolt> Ice Lance (when the Frost Fingers buff is active) buff Fingers of Frost)> Flurry> Frost Bolt ...
  • Frost Fingers can stack twice. We should use Ice Lance every time we have a stack and not allow to stack two. There will be situations where it will be unavoidable.
  • The Rune of power must be kept active whenever we have it available. We must be on the rune to receive the effect.
  • Ice Cube will make us invulnerable to any damage for a long period of time but has a very long cooldown. We can use it at the most opportune moments of combat.
  • We must keep the Ice Barrier active at all times since it is a shield that will absorb some damage.
  • Invisibility will allow us to take off the agro. It is usually of no use in raids but it is good to keep that in mind.
  • The magician has a silence called Counter spell. It also has the Polymorph and Steal spell, which do precisely what it says in the name.
  • Ice Nova is a rooted. It does not inflict much damage but we can use it as extra damage when there are many targets in combat.
  • The magician has a BL. Usually the group leader establishes when to launch it. If they don't launch it, try to do it yourself.
  • We have an instant teleportation, which will help us to drag all the possible damage until the last moment, in case we have to move.

This guide is horrible, most of it is wrong, the ice touch talent is always used in unitarget, the power rune is never used, in any encounter it rents more than the flow, the rotation is fatal, the use of ice spear When you have two charges, you have taken it out of the hat and a legendary fire is not the best, and an infinite number of other things are wrong.
Do not make guides if you have no idea how to play a class and stop removing content to be released.

Hello good. First of all, the talents are what they are and, if you look below, I explain in which situations each of them is best used (except those that are not necessary). Forgive me if I'm not making a guide for expert players, I didn't intend that either. The Frozen Touch talent should not be used for raiding because it is a talent with more competitive utility. Icy Touch is not as good as it may seem, it can be used for single target encounters but you still lose damage and, therefore, a better option is to choose Shard Ice since, comparing it with the damage of this first talent, the difference is older. The reason I say it is because, that 40% that is supposed to increase, is not 12% of the faculty + 40% of the talent, it is 40% more than that 12%, which is a total of 12% + 4.8% = 16.8%. Secondly, on the topic of rotation and, if I remember correctly, you can accumulate up to two stacks of Frost Fingers and I would say that the fun in that is spending them to do more damage. Maybe I misspell "when you have two loads" and I should have said "spend it at all times", well hey, a mistake. And about the legendary issue, I forgive you because it was my mistake when copying and pasting links. You should not forget that we release guides from our point of view and this is not the first one I have done. You can disagree and have your reasons but, if I make a guide like this, it will be because I also have mine and I am informed, don't you think? For now, I thank you for reporting the Legendary error and I hope that next time you will appreciate the work of those of us behind it. GuíasWoW and don't take it so lightly because when we do them the least we want is to have to argue. We are few but we are active and, also, we are human.

What a guide you have been wrong in the talents, the rotation, even in the legendary ones. As you can see that you make content to fill.

I will have my reasons, don't you think? If we made content to fill, we wouldn't bother to search and compare information. I invite you to read the answer to the previous comment.
