General changes

In this category we are going to group all the changes that, due to their generality, are not accepted in the rest of the categories.

Patch 3.3 adds major changes to Haste in a way that affects Damage / Heal Over Time (HoTs / DoTs). The Kalu'ak, after seeing the success of the Stranglethorn Valley Fishing Contest, have decided to jump into the North Sea and set up their own contest in which they will offer succulent rewards to the players.

New totems for Shaman - Orc and Troll

After many years, the Taurens have grown tired of sharing their totems with Orcs and Trolls. Blizzard has added new models in this content patch so Taurens don't have to worry anymore. From the looks of it, the Taurens' model remains unchanged.

Haste and Damage / Heal over time

A major change to Haste is added in Patch 3.3. Now, it is intended to follow the design that Operational affect Healings over time (Hot) and Damage over Time (Dot) are affected by Haste. In this way, for example Rejuvenation Druid's currently (base) heals 1690 in 15 seconds.
With this change those same 1,690 would heal but instead of 15 seconds it would be 10 (for example). The same is applicable to Damages Over Time.

Right now there will only be 3 classes (or not) "benefited" from this change, although if things go well it could be extended to the odd class. Classes are Sorcerer, Shadow Priest and Druid Restoration.

That Haste affects damage and healing over time is a double-edged sword as it increases healing per second but also forces the player to refresh the skill in question again. Since they don't want to force the player (for now), they just added a glyph for Druid and Warlock:

The Priest, in the Shadow Form, you can benefit from haste with Devouring Plague y Vampiric Touch.

Kalu'ak Fishing Tournament

The Kalu'ak have decided to go one step further and, every Saturday of each week, they will organize a Fishing Tournament. On Saturdays starting at 14:00 PM, players can try to catch the elusive Shark Macuira.

Meanwhile, Ancestor Clearwater will wait in Dalaran for an hour for the best fisherman to bring him his catch and he will be handsomely rewarded. Those who, although they have not been so fast, manage to capture the Macuira Shark before the Ancestor Clearwater leaves, will get a just reward for their effort and dedication.

It is said that the Macuira Shark likes Remoras Pígmeas very much, so it is also useful for you to find it.

Arctic coats for sale!

! New Spirit Beast! - Arcturis

New flight points

We may be gearing up for Cataclysm because two new flypoints are introduced in this patch. One for the horde, and one neutral but both in the Eastern Kingdoms.

Give your alter a boost! - Enchantments linked to the account

In Patch 3.3, all Helm and Shoulderpads enchantments will be account bound. This means that you can send it to your secondary character if, for example, you completed all the Sons of Hodir missions with your main character and you do not feel like repeating all the missions over and over again.

Reduced difficulty in The Oculus

Since thanks to new dungeon system Sometimes Oculus will touch us, Blizzard has decided to reduce the difficulty of this dungeon. In his words, this dungeon is almost paired in difficulty with The Test of the Champion but without offering the rewards of this level, for this they have reduced the difficulty of the dungeon notably:

  • The health of all bosses and creatures in the dungeon has been reduced.
  • On various bosses, the cooldowns of some abilities have been increased, and the damage inflicted on players by them has been reduced.
  • The Lords of Magic Urom y Sorceresses of the lord of the ring Now they go together with 4 and not 5.

Changes to the User Interface

Patch 3.3 brings a ton of changes to the user interface with some really cool options. Aside from the new Content Tier (Icecrown Raid and Dungeons), the UI changes make up the largest part of this content patch.

The biggest Interface change introduced is the new Dungeon / Party Search System. It is without a doubt an improvement that the current search system has been missing. It allows, thanks to the Inter-Realm Dungeons, to quickly assemble groups by teleporting players directly to the dungeon (is the end of the summoning stones nearing?).

Another of the more noteworthy changes is the changes to the game's Starter Help which has been dramatically improved to reduce the learning curve for new World of Warcraft players. The tutorials are now more extensive, explicit and contain images.

Last but not least, the changes introduced in the visibility of the nameplates of players and creatures as well as the new option to disenchant objects within the dungeons as a new option to the existing ones of 'Need' and 'Greed' .

New Dungeon / Party Search system

The Dungeon and Party Search feature receives an incredible update increasing its usefulness to unsuspected limits. You may, in a way, miss some of the features like seeing other members in queue or seeing group members as they form. However, this feature is purposely put to dungeon groups and is still available to raids.

Players will have the option to choose the dungeon they want to queue to (as currently) and will also have the option to join the queue for a random dungeon or raid.
If we want a specific dungeon, now we will find that we can join all the ones we want to Click Hit. For example, we can decide to go to all the Heroics except El Óculus.

To join a dungeon we will click on the Searching Eye Icon in the Micromenu or we will press the «I» key (by default) and we will see the following window:

In case we want to join a band, we must open the Band window by pressing the «O» key (by default) and click on the new button available: «Open Band explorer»

We may see a Padlock next to the Dungeon that will not allow us to target. If we place the mouse over the Padlock we will see why we cannot sign up. There are three main reasons:

  • You don't have enough equipment. The more difficult dungeons and raids will require a minimum of equipment to ensure that you meet the dungeon minimums.
  • You are not level enough to play the dungeon.
  • You don't have the Keys or the Missions to access the dungeon

The Random Dungeon feature will allow us to get ready for the following:

  • WotLK normal dungeon
  • WotLK Heroic Dungeon
  • The Burning Crusade normal dungeon
  • The Burning Crusade Heroic Dungeon
  • Original dungeons

There is a daily "mission", which by completing a random heroic dungeon in WotLK (there are no rewards for dungeons in The Burning Crusade or classic mode), will reward us with 2 Frost Emblems and 26 money_gold

Players have 3 ways to group:

  • A group from the same server
  • Some members of the same server and the rest found with the new tool
  • All members selected with the new tool

Whenever a member enters randomly through the New Dungeon System, an unalterable loot system will be established: Need before Greed (which has been updated) and players will not be able to trade with each other except for conjured items (Mage's food) and loot dropped within the instance. Additionally, players who have used the Random Dungeon system will receive a benefit upon entering the dungeon, called Lucky draw. This buff grants a 5% increase to Base Health, damage dealt, and healing done.
It is important to note that these restrictions are only applicable if there is a member who has entered thanks to the new tool. Players that form a group on the same server will not have this type of restrictions being able to trade normally and change the loot distribution system.

New system of Need before Greed

The system now recognizes the appropriate equipment for a given class, in three different ways:

  • The class must be able to equip the item. For example, a magician will not be able to roll for an Ax.
  • Pure melee DPS will not be able to roll for items with Spell Power. For example, a Rogue will not be able to roll for Leather with Spell Power.
  • The class must roll for their dominant armor type. For example, Paladins may only roll for Plates.

Group disenchantment option

Players in a party with a charmer will have the option to automatically disenchant items that no player has requested. Players will have this option both in pre-defined groups and in random groups. This option is available in any loot system, even if players are not using the new dungeon tool.
The presence of an Enchantress is still required in the group, but the process of disenchantment and distribution of disenchanted loot will be fully automatic.

Forming a group

As soon as we decide to join a dungeon, either random or fixed, with the new group search system, we will see how the system begins to fill in the gaps in our group:

Once finished, we will be asked if we want to access the dungeon:

We can also decide before leaving the queue but now it is final, if we click on Enter Dungeon we will be automatically teleported to the dungeon.

How do you match the groups?
The system uses smart pairing. The new system will work in a way that matches at least one experienced player for the assigned dungeon with less experienced players in the party. It will choose classes more carefully, and it will also more consistently match players of the same level for the chosen dungeon. The interface will also allow you to see how many players are looking for groups and what is the average waiting time of the groups that the tool has formed.
The tool will not match you with players you have on your Ignored Players list which has been increased to 50 people since you can add people from other realms.

Player expulsion
It may be the case that the player is problematic and the majority of the group chooses to kick him out of the group. It takes 4 votes to be able to expel a player from the team so you have to be careful with this tool.

Premature leaving the dungeon
If one player decides to leave the dungeon (or all), they will receive the debuff of Dungeon Deserter which, for 15 minutes will prevent you from being part of a group again with this tool.
The party leader will have the option of using the system again to find a new member, end the dungeon, or continue with the remaining players.

Automatic teleportation, goodbye to the summoning stone

Groups using this tool can now teleport directly to the selected dungeon. After leaving the dungeon, players will return to their original location. If any member needs to leave the dungeon momentarily to buy reagents or make any repairs (hopefully not because of the wipes), they will have the option to teleport back to the dungeon automatically.
From the moment that 2 players are already part of the group, they will have the option to automatically teleport to the dungeon.

Rewards when using the new system

The Heroic and Normal missions have disappeared giving way to the Weekly Missions. However, we will get new rewards for using this new service:

Quick questions and answers about the new system

What happens when your party breaks up before completing the Heroic Random Dungeon? (assuming you have been saved)
As it works in the Public Test Realms right now, there is no difference between what happens now and what will happen once this system is implanted. If someone leaves the group or is kicked out, the leader will be asked if he or she wants to continue the dungeon. If the leader chooses to continue, the party will drop into the Dungeon System to find more members.

Will new members be notified if they choose to join a dungeon in progress with X dead bosses and will they have an option to join or wait for a dungeon with no dead bosses?
Yes.

Will the dungeon leader have the option to continue the party without adding more members? I have seen on more than one occasion when a member leaves and the game goes faster with 4 than with 5
Yes, the Leader can choose not to use the Dungeon System to fill in the gaps.

How do we know exactly what Random Heroic is? Or are you simply rewarded for the first random heroic dungeon you do as if it were the daily one no matter what dungeon it is?
Yes, you will be rewarded for completing the first heroic random dungeon you do on any given day. It no longer works as a mission, the choice will be random for each group formed through this option

Are there rewards for using the tool with players from the same kingdom or do you have to use the quest in the Battle Group to be rewarded?
You can form a group of 5 players in your kingdom and then select the daily random Heroic dungeon in the Dungeon System tool. You will be rewarded in the same way but you will not be counted for the achievements of the Dungeon System.

In the public test realms there is a gold reward for doing the random dungeon the first time along with the Frost Emblems. Will it still be the case? If so, will there be a gold reward for each random dungeon after the first one?
We are still discussing it.

Can you decide if you want to search for people in your kingdom only, or will the tool just unite and form the groups?

If you search for members for your party through the Dungeon System, it will always search for available players in your Battle Group. You will have to use the Group Search channel in a main city or form a group yourself if you want to keep the players from your own kingdom. This does not take away the possibility of the Daily Dungeon reward.

How is the equipment requirement determined? Is Blizzard going to implement its own team scoring?
The Dungeon System will make sure that players are of the proper level, have the necessary harmonizations for a dungeon (if applicable), and will look at the average team level of each player. The system will form the group according to the roles that the players have selected and will try to select the players in the best possible way based on the objects they have equipped.

Is there going to be any information on the minimum level of equipment required and how to calculate it? I have doubts that this is a problem for most players but it seems that players who have just reached level 80 will not be able to join for the normal Trial of the Crusader / Icecrown dungeons through the new system. I think a little more information than "Get better gear" would be useful in this case
We will review this part of the system.

When is the dungeon determined and predefined for you if you leave the party? For example if you are assigned to Oculus and you don't want to go. If you leave the group (receiving the Debuff from Deserter) and log back into the system after 15 minutes, are you forced to do Oculus again?
The dungeon is determined once the party is complete. If the party doesn't like the dungeon that has been selected, they can quit, get the Deserter debuff, and try to get a new, different random dungeon after the 15 minute debuff is up and you can still get the additional reward for completing Daily Heroic Random Dungeon.

Are the random dungeon rewards independent? For example, I join a group where some members have already made their first random heroic dungeon and have been rewarded but I don't have the reward yet. Will I still get my two Emblems of Frost or will I have to settle for 2 Emblems of Triumph?
As soon as you choose to make a heroic random dungeon and it is the first one of the day, you will receive the daily reward for completing this dungeon.

Is the player still limited to doing each heroic dungeon only once a day? That is, if you choose to continue using the "Random" option, is it possible that you will be touched by the same heroic dungeon more than once in a day? I assume not, the list of available heroic dungeons will shrink each time you complete one.
If the Random system is selected repeatedly, players can play the same Heroic dungeon more than once per day. If a dungeon is chosen through the Dungeon System, that particular dungeon cannot be chosen more than once per day. Technically you could do multiple times in the day CoT4 by choosing the Random option on the same day.
If you play CoT 4 through the Random system, you will not be able to select this heroic in the Dungeon System to do it on the day. However, if you have decided to play CoT 4 instead of selecting the Random mode, there is a chance that you will be selected to go to CoT 4 again if you choose the Random system later in the day.

When you talk about the system choosing players by looking at their team, does this mean that the system tries to group players with the same item level, or an average item level?
It will try to group players with similar teams to each other, similar to the Arena System trying to select teams with equivalent ratings to face off.

New map interface and mission tracking

Will it be the end of Questhelper? Patch 3.3 introduces a new quest tracking system that actually promises to be a worthy successor to Carbonite and Quest Helper, which are really resource-intensive.

The first major change is that the interface has been divided into 4 well-defined panels. You can click on the image to see the explanation of the panels:

Improved help system and tutorials for new players

For those of us who are totally used to World of Warcraft, perhaps this change may be of little importance to us but I still remember my early days in World of Warcraft when I did not know how anything worked and was guided basically by intuition. For example, it took me a while to realize that my magician could eat and drink at the same time (no laughing matter).

Changes to the visibility of player and creature plate names

Have you ever been involved in a fight against 30 monsters and have you seen their Nameplates constantly moving without being able to select the one you want? In Patch 3.3, this is over. The changes made to the visibility are quite interesting and, below, you have an example image. Here are the changes made so far:

  • The range at which you can see license plate names is much higher.
  • Now you will not be able to see the name plates through objects that block the line of sight.
  • Instead of trying to get the nameplates to sort themselves, they now mount on top of each other. We think this makes it more useful for large groups (ex: Onyxia Hatchlings).
  • As soon as you can look through a room door, you will see the name plates of the players or creatures in this room.
  • Similar to the first point, the Pillars and Bridges in the Sands will not hide the name plates of friends or enemies.

New Report of high latencies

In patch 3.3, a new tool is introduced that allows players to report when they have Delays (aka Lag) Here you can see a summary of the windows that have been introduced.

To report, you must click on your Micromenu bar and select «Help Request». If you look at the bottom, a new button appears called «Report delay».

In Patch 3.3, another change is the one that the character creation interface has undergone, matching what we saw at BlizzCon 2009 and will be the interface that we see in Cataclysm.

In this new screen, the Strengths and Weaknesses of the classes and races can be fully appreciated in an effort also to make new players know better what they choose. The faction explanation section has been removed to make room for the World of Warcraft logo and thus be able to lengthen the selection of races in which, in the future, we will be able to see Goblins and Ferocanis.

Missions in Patch 3.3

The missions are a very important point of this patch because they immerse the player in the history of the Lich King. If you have played Warcraft 3 you may feel a little nostalgic because it is since then that we have been carrying this story.

The missions will introduce you to the Icecrown Citadel allowing you to accompany Silvanas or Jaina on an interesting chain. If rewards are your thing, the quest chain of Quel'dalar, the fragmented sword of the Blood Queen Lana'thel, awaits.
To get to Agony of Shadows you will have to complete a chain of very dangerous missions but that will undoubtedly have its reward.

In addition, daily missions are eliminated, now having weekly missions that involve more the brotherhood when it comes to getting more emblems to equip your player.

The forging of a legendary item: Shadow Agony

Icecrown Citadel

Icecrown Citadel becomes a dungeon in Patch 3.3 and comes in two flavors: A 5-player Dungeon Set (3 total) and a 10- and 25-player Raid Dungeon as usual.

Dungeons work as follows. When Patch 3.3 enters the regular servers, players will only have access to the Forge of Souls (the first wing of the complex). Once all bosses are finished, the Pit of Saron will be accessible. Players will have the ability to access the pit through a Teleport at the end of the Pit of Sharon or through the normal dungeon door. The same is true of the Chambers of Reflection.

Finally we have the Frozen Throne the Icecrown Citadel raid dungeon. Divided into 4 huge wings with a total of 12 encounters in which our ultimate goal will be the defeat of the Lich King.

Forge of Souls

The Forge of Souls is the first dungeon in the Icecrown Citadel set. The entrance door is to the left of the portal room and will introduce the 5 brave players into the Citadel.

Right at the entrance, and depending on the faction, players will meet either Lady Jaina Proudmoore or Lady Silvanas Windrunner. They will command the assault of the Horde and the Alliance leading them directly to the forge.

In the dungeon, players will encounter 2 bosses: Bronjahm and the Eater of Souls. It takes an end to Bronjahm to stop the Soul Grinder and the Soul Eater remembers the Soul Reliquary in the Black Temple.

Upon defeating the Devourer, players will once again meet Jaina or Sylvanas with a group from the Argent Crusade and the Knights of the Ebon Blade, ready to secure the area. A teleport will be enabled so that players can advance to the next phase: The Pit of Saron.

Saron Pit

The Pit of Saron is an open-air dungeon although it is not possible to access it from the outside.

Upon entering the Pit, players will encounter Scourge Lord Tyrannus, the area supervisor who will swear to destroy the intruders. Players will be informed that their objective is to free the slaves working in the area, take down Tyrannus' lieutenants, and ultimately defeat him to access the Halls of Reflection.

The first boss they will face is Forgemaster Garfrost, a huge abomination alongside his forge. They are in charge of making armor and weapons for the Scourge armies. By defeating him, slaves will be able to equip themselves with weapons.

Chambers of Reflection

The Halls of Reflection is the third and final wing of the dungeon set. The secrets they hide are unimaginable, and even the very existence of this place is a secret to many of the Lich King's servants.

Upon entering the dungeon, players will find Frostmourne floating on a pedestal in a room slightly ahead. Uther's ghost is after the sword and asks the group to get out of there and not risk their lives. Jaina and Silvanas will ask Uther about the Lich King and as Uther speaks, Arthas himself will appear. He will summon Falric and Marwin his two most trusted captains in life and death, ordering them to destroy the group.

They will begin to summon waves of ghosts that will attack the group after which, one of the captains, Falric will decide to face the group. After their defeat, more ghosts will come before Marwyn decides to face the group.

After defeating both captains, you will find Jaina or Silvanas fighting the Lich King and they will ask you to run for your lives beginning the final encounter of the dungeon. While trying to get out of the dungeon, you will have to defend Sylvanas / Jaina from the waves of undead that Arthas will summon. Meanwhile, he will chase you but he is relatively slow. The goal is to defeat a number of waves before the Lich King catches the party, doing so will destroy the party.

Icecrown Citadel: The Frozen Throne

The Citadel of Icecrown is where all the power of the Lich King is concentrated and his most powerful minions guard the area with the intention of destroying any enemy that dares to enter the domain of the Frozen Throne.

Access progression to Icecrown

Icecrown Citadel will be divided into four different sections: the Assault on the Citadel, The Plague Workshops, The Crimson Room, and the Frostwing Halls. We plan to release these four sections of Icecrown Citadel over time and not immediately when Patch 3.3 is released. The exact dates of the opening of each wing are still unknown.

The first section to open will include the fights with Lord Marrow, Lady Deathwhisper, the Naval Battle of Icecrown and Deathbringer Saurfang. Progress beyond that point will be restricted for several weeks. Later, the Plague Workshops with Carapútrea, Panzachancro and Professor Putricidio will open. After another period of time, the Crimson Room will open and you will be able to fight the Blood Princes and Blood Queen Lana'thel. Finally, the Frostwing Halls will be unlocked, allowing access to Valithria Dreamwalker, Sindragosa, and the Lich King.

There are other elements that limit access along the way. Players will not be able to attempt the 10-player Heroic versions until they defeat the Lich King in 10-player mode. Similarly, players must defeat the Lich King in 25-player mode before they can face a Heroic 25 battle. So players must master each fight on normal difficulty in Icecrown before attempting Heroic difficulty.

It cannot be tested against the Lich King until Professor Putricide, Blood Queen Lana'thel, and Sindragosa have been defeated. Additionally, the Lich King Heroic Difficulty cannot be tested in a given week unless all three fights mentioned above have been defeated in Heroic mode that week.

The Ashen Verdict provides reinforcements and material for players to storm Icecrown Citadel, but this support is not infinite. Raids will have a limited number of total attempts each week to defeat the four toughest fights in Icecrown Citadel: Professor Putricide, Blood Queen Lana'thel, Sindragosa, and the Lich King. As these fights are unlocked, the number of attempts available per week increases: the initial number of attempts provided to defeat Professor Putricide is only 5. When Blood Queen Lana'thel is unlocked, the number of total attempts will increase to 10. When Sindragosa and the Lich King are unlocked, attempts will increase to a total of 15 to defeat all four bosses. After a raid has exhausted their attempts for that week, the Ashen Verdict must withdraw their support and the four most difficult bosses disappear and become unavailable for the rest of the week. The limited attempt system on a feature in both Normal and Heroic modes.

History of the Icecrown Citadel

All over Northrend, battles have been fought against the infamous Scourge. Countless lives have been lost since the Alliance and Horde first arrived in the frozen wastes, but the champions of Azeroth carry on. Now their ultimate goal is the Icecrown Citadel, the cornerstone of Scourge power and the main base of the Lich King. Tirion Fordring and the Argent Crusade have formed an alliance with Darion Mograine and the Knights of the Ebon Blade to form the Ashen Verdict. The strongest fighters in this coalition will lead the assault on the citadel alongside the champions of the Alliance and the Horde.

The events and battles of this dungeon will be the culmination of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Join legendary heroes such as Highlord Tirion Fordring, High Overlord Saurfang, Muradin Bronzebeard, and King Varian Wrynn in an epic battle against the Scourge and their lord. Icecrown Citadel offers 10- and 25-player versions of the raid dungeon, each with twelve encounters. Each encounter can be fought in normal or heroic mode, and players can use a new interface feature to easily switch between difficulty modes. Raid dungeon rewards start at item level 251 in 10-player normal mode, increase to 264 in 10-player heroic mode and 25-player normal mode, and reach level 277 in 25-player heroic mode.

The grand entrance to the citadel

After infiltrating the fortress, players will face a legion of undead guards with orders to drive out any invaders. Commanding the defenders is Lord Marrow, a monstrosity formed from the bones of the undead. Lady Deathwhisper, supreme overseer of the Cult of the Damned, is the next enemy. Revive the faith of her followers with the promise that they will enjoy the opportunity to serve her eternally in undeath.

As they continue to climb, the heroes of the Alliance and Horde wind up outside the citadel, where their mutual hatred leads to a battle for control of the Wall of Skulls. Players will join the battle alongside High Overlord Saurfang in The Hammer of Orgrim or Muradin Bronzebeard aboard the Skybreaker in a unique encounter. Each faction will protect their ship and attempt to destroy the other in an all-out battle to see who is worthy of facing the Lich King.

Ultimately, the Lich King's mightiest Death Knight will be the final obstacle the heroes will have to overcome to enter the top of the citadel.

To gain reputation with the Ashen Verdict you will have to kill monsters in Icecrown Citadel or doing missions for the Verdict.

At the moment, the quests are limited to the Shadow Agony chain but we may see more in the future. Gaining reputation with the Ashen Verdict will give us access to profession patterns and rings for each role.
Killing monsters gives very little reputation:

  • 10 reputation points for easy elites

Tier 10

Tier 10 will perform similarly to Tier 8, with two models. A normal model and another heroic or Tier 10 and Tier 10.5 if you prefer.

Dungeon Finder Between Realms

The Dungeon Finder is now available, allowing players to quickly and easily access groups of five players. This option will now connect all kingdoms in a battlegroup with an improved grouping system to make it easier for players of all levels to find a group for a dungeon. How to get started and mission log
