Warrior Protection in patch 8.0.1

Warrior Protection

Hello again guys. Today we go with the guide on the Protection Warrior in patch 8.0.1.

Warrior Protection in patch 8.0.1

Mighty warriors rely on their heavy armor, shields, and cunning in battle to defend themselves and ensure that enemies do not go after their weakest allies. Warriors are the bravest fighters on the battlefield, and their fearlessness in combat instills courage in allies and terror in enemies. Experts in the handling of all types of melee weaponry and possessors of incredible physical strength and skill, the warriors are perfectly prepared to fight in the front line and act as commanders on the battlefield.

In this guide we will talk about the Protection Warrior talents, abilities and rotation in patch 8.0.1. As I always tell you in all my guides, this is an orientation on how you can take a Protection Warrior in this patch and get the most out of it, but with the use of his character each player acquires the skill and way of playing appropriate to him and decides on everything. moment which talents and skills to use. No guide is to the letter, but if you start now with your new Protection Warrior or are somewhat lost, this is your guide;).
I also have to tell you that all this can change at any time both on my part and because some talents or abilities change throughout the patch and next expansion. If that happens, I will keep you posted.

Talents

Several talents have disappeared in patch 8.0.1:

Although I am still adapting to the changes we have had, here is the build of the talents that I will use with my Protection Warrior. Anyway, at the moment we have a lot of ease to be able to change talents depending on the boss we are going to face, so if one of them is not to your liking, you can try any other that you think may be better for you.

  • Level One: Punish or In the heat of battle
  • Level One: Bouncing Stride
  • Level One: Unstoppable force
  • Level One: Beef up
  • Level One: Resonating Earth
  • Level One: Booming voice
  • Level One: Anger control

Level One

  • In the heat of battle: Gain 3% haste for each enemy or ally within 10 yards, up to a maximum of 15% haste.
  • Punish: Shield Slam deals 20% increased damage and reduces the damage dealt to you by enemies by 3% for 9 seconds.
  • Impending victory: Instantly attacks the target, dealing (39.312% of attack power) points of damage and healing you for 20% of your maximum health. Killing an enemy that grants experience or honor resets the cooldown of Impending Victory.

I have chosen Punish in most of the meetings because it is the one that goes best, in my opinion. In some specific encounters we can also use In the heat of battle.

Level One

  • Crackling Thunder: Increases the radius of Thunder Clap by 50%.
  • Bouncing stride: Reduces the cooldown of Heroic Leap by 15 seconds, and Heroic Leap now also increases your running speed by 70% for 3 seconds.
  • Salvaguarda: Intercepting a friendly target now also causes 30% of their damage taken to transfer to you for 6 seconds.

Although I normally use Bouncing stride Any of these three talents go quite well and we can use them depending on the encounter.

Level One

  • Serve cold: Revenge deals 5% more damage for each target hit, up to a maximum of 25%.
  • Unstoppable force: Avatar increases Thunder Clap's damage by 100% and reduces its cooldown by 50%.
  • Dragon roar: You roar explosively, dealing (170% of attack power) physical damage to all enemies within 12 yards and reducing their movement speed by 50% for 6 seconds. Generate 10 rage points.

Here and without hesitation I have chosen Unstoppable force for the large amount of damage we get with it.

Level One

  • Indomitable: Increases your maximum health by 10%.
  • No surrender: Ignore Pain prevents up to 100% more damage, based on your missing health.
  • Beef up: Last Stand's cooldown is reduced by 60 seconds and also causes you to block all melee attacks.

Here and also without hesitation I have opted for Beef up which for my taste is the best of the three.

Level One

  • Threatening: Intimidating Scream disorients enemies for an additional 4 seconds, causing all enemies to cower instead of flee.
  • Resonating earth: When Shockwave hits at least 3 targets, its cooldown is reduced by 15 seconds.
  • Tomentose discharge: Throw your weapon at an enemy, dealing (16.38% of attack power) points of physical damage and stunning them for 4 seconds.

Although I have opted for Resonating earth, any of the three talents is viable, always depending on the situation and the meeting that we are carrying out.

Level One

  • Booming voice: Demoralizing Scream also generates 40 Rage points and increases the damage you deal to affected targets by 15%.
  • Revenge: Ignore Pain reduces the Rage cost of your next Revenge by 33%, and Revenge reduces the Rage cost of your next Ignore Pain by 33%.
  • Devastating: Your auto attacks deal [(21% of attack power)% * ((max (0, min (Level - 12, 8)) * 8.5 + 241) / 309)] additional physical damage and have 20% Chance to reset the remaining cooldown of Shield Slam.

Here I have chosen Booming voice for the anger it generates and also for the considerable damage increase.

Level One

  • Anger control: With every 10 p. Wrath you spend reduces the remaining cooldown of Avatar, Last Stand, Shield Wall, and Demoralizing Scream by 1 sec.
  • Serious repercussions: Shield Slam extends the duration of Shield Block by 1.0 sec, and Shield Block increases the damage of Shield Slam by an additional 30%.
  • Devastating: Launches a spinning weapon at the target location, dealing [7 * (44.226% of attack power)] points of damage to all enemies within 8 yards over 7 seconds. Generates 7 rage points each time it deals damage.

This time I have chosen the best talent for my taste, Anger control. In some very specific encounters we could also consider the use of Serious repercussions.

Rotation and practical tips

Use Shield wall to avoid dying when we receive large amounts of damage.

Use Summoning howl when the group has little health and there is great damage.

Use Demoralizing scream when you need to reduce the damage a bit. Combined with talent Booming voice we generate more anger and damage, so it's a great combination.

Useful addons

  • Recount/Skada Damage Meter - Addon to measure dps, agro generated, deaths, healings, damage received, etc.
  • Deadly Boss Mods - Addon that warns us of the abilities of the gang leaders
  • weakauras - It graphically shows us information about the combat.
  • Omen - Aggro meter.
  • GTFO - It alerts us if we are receiving damage or making a mistake.
  • Parrot or Mik's Scrolling Battle Text - They show us the floating battle text while we are in combat (incoming healings, damage from your spells, etc.).
  • ElvUI - Addon that modifies our entire interface.

And so far the protection warrior guide in patch 8.0.1. I hope it helps you, at least to start using your warrior or warrior protection.
Until next time guys. I wait for you for Azeroth.
