Mistweaver Monk 6.2 - PvE Guide

Mistweaver Monk Guide 6.2

Welcome to the Mistweaver Monk's Guide to PvE. My name is Aquilon and currently I play in Colinas Pardas. In this guide I will explain the most important changes in patch 6.2 in the Mistweaver Monk, and how to get the most out of this great healer.

Mistweaver Monk

When, centuries ago, the pandaren suffered under the yoke of the mogu, it was the monks who brought hope to what seemed inevitably a bleak future. Due to the prohibition of the use of weapons imposed by their masters, these pandaren chose to focus on harnessing their chi and learning to fight without the contest of weapons. When the opportunity came to unleash a revolution, they were well trained enough to shake off the yoke of oppression.

Changes in patch 6.2

During patch 6.2 the Mistweaver Monk has not undergone direct changes in his class, although the general changes to the monk do affect him in the Style of the Crane resolved by having modified the damage of certain abilities.

  • Tiger Strikes No longer triggers from multistrikes, but provides a 35% increased chance to multistrike while active (down from 25%).
  • Dark kick deals 10% more damage.
  • Kick of the rising sun deals 10% more damage.
  • Tiger palm deals 20% more damage.

Talents

To optimize our healing to the maximum it will be necessary to change certain talents according to the encounter. The following talent build is used in most situations. Remember to always carry Written of the clear mind to change talents according to the encounter.

mistweaver monk talents

Lv 15

  • Operational: Allows us to use Rodar 3 times and reduces its cooldown.
  • Tiger wish: We run 70% faster for 6 seconds and it removes all rooting and braking.
  • Momentum: When we use Rodar We gain 25% movement speed for 10 seconds, the effect stacks. Passive talent.

This choice influences our mobility. The most used talent in most raid encounters will be Operational, although the difference between talents is very small since the mobility of the monk is very wide with any of the 3 talents.

Lv 30

  • Wave of chi: Attack / healing that bounces between allies and enemies up to 7 times. Enemies are damaged and allies are healed.
  • Zen sphere: A sphere summoned on an ally or on us that damages nearby enemies and heals the friendly target over time. When its duration expires or health drops below 35%, it detonates, healing all nearby allies. Lasts 16 seconds
  • Chi Burst: Throw a sphere in a frontal line that advances 40 meters in a straight line, healing allies in its path and damaging enemies.

We will change these talents a lot depending on the encounter. If we are going to heal in band we will choose Chi Burst in case our allies are going to stay together u Wave of chi whether the band will remain dispersed.

Lv 45

  • Powerful blows: When using Stir we generate an extra chi once every 15 seconds. If we have complete chi, invoke a sphere of chi on the ground. Passive talent.
  • Ascension: Increases energy regeneration by 15%, spirit by 10%, and chi limit by 1. Passive talent.
  • Chi Brew: You generate 2 chi points and 1 charge of mana tea. Stacks up to 2 times and has a 1 minute cooldown.

In this selection of talents we will always carry Chi Brew since it gives us loads of mana tea, generates Chi points and has a pretty good cooldown. Very useful talent for quickly gaining chi to spend on some extra Inspire.

Lv 60

  • Peace ring: Creates a ring on us or on an ally that incapacitates the enemies within the ring for 3 seconds and attacks the player.
  • Ox Charge Wave: Summons an ox that moves in a straight line, stunning enemies in its path for 3 seconds.
  • Leg sweep: Stuns all targets around you within 5 meters for 5 seconds.

We will always carry Leg sweep, is the most effective crowd control of this talent pool.

Lv 75

  • Healing Elixirs: Using a concoction heals us for 15%. When our health is below 35% health, we will also heal 15%. It can only occur once every 18 seconds. Passive talent.
  • Mitigate damage: It gives us a buff of 3 charges that reduces the damage received by 50% if the damage equals 15% or more of our health.
  • Blur magic: Reduces magic damage taken by 90% for 6 seconds.

We will change this combination of talents depending on the encounter. If the boss we are going to face uses magic damage skills we will Blur magic, on the other hand if you use physical damage skills we will use Mitigate damage.

Lv 90

This talent line will also change depending on the combat. If the gang is going to stay together or needs to get together to survive massive damage we will use Rushing Jade Wind. If the band is not going to get together throughout the fight we will Summon Xuen, the White Tiger to help with the damage.

Lv 100

  • Dragon's breath: Your Jade Dragon Statue breathes healing breath from its position to yours, healing all allies in its path in a 20-meter cone every second for 10 seconds.
  • Chi blast: Consumes 1 to 4 chi, the more chi consumed, the more effects it causes and the more effective it is. Replaces Dark kick in determined crane style ..
  • Puddle of fog: Your spell Renewing mist has 3 charges and its healing is increased by 15%. Your spell Kick of the rising sun  has 3 charges and its damage is increased by 50%.

In these talents we will almost always carry Puddle of fog, especially in this last patch due to the bonuses of tier 18 that benefit us through the renewing mist. Dragon's breath It will only be useful in battles where the band must gather for massive damage approximately every 1 minute and a half coinciding with the CD of this ability, a situation that we will not see in almost any encounter in Hellfire Citadel.

We will never use Chi blast because your chi spending prevents us from using To inspire hurting tier 18 benefits.

Glyphs

Here are the glyphs that are most useful to the Mistweaver Monk. I do not name the minor glyphs as they are aesthetic.

Statistics

Spirit> Intellect> Multistrike> Critical> Versatility> Haste> Mastery

  • Since Patch 6.1, the Mistweaver Monk needs Spirit because the amount of mana regenerated by Mana Tea is 200% Spirit.
  • Multistrike will be the most valuable secondary stat. It will cause all of our heals to have a chance to heal again at 30% of the original heal. What's more Renewing mistKick of the rising sun have a probability equal to the multi-hit of not being spent when using them allowing us to throw more Renewing mists of the normal.
  • Critical will be the second most valuable secondary stat. Critical Chance Influences Gaining Charges of Mana tea extra, in addition to the normal critical utility, double heals.

Enchantments and gems

Based on the previous statistics we will use enchantments and multi-hit gems to optimize ourselves as much as possible.

Flask, food and potion

Rotation and Healing Dynamics

The Mistweaver Monk like the rest of the healers does not have a fixed rotation to heal but depends on the situation and the amount to heal, although we will use a logical priority system to generate and spend chi while we heal to win loads of Mana tea and manage to keep our most valuable resource stable. In this section I will name the basic use for generating and spending chi healing a target or multiple targets, and later we will go into detail about the use of all abilities.

Basic rotation

Wise Dragon Style

This "basic rotation" to generate and spend chi is belongs to the Wise Dragon Style. Remember to always have the Jade Serpent Statue placed within reach of allies. Before starting the combat, spend Renewing Mist on allies so that when the combat begins there will be many affected by the mist, in addition to this you will have 5 points of chi from the beginning.

To a target

  • Comforting mist: We will channel it on the target we want to heal. When channeling, Surge of Mist and Enveloping Mist will be instant cast. We will interrupt this ability many times to use other healings but then we will channel it again.
  • Wave of fog: We will use it to heal the target while channeling Comforting Mist, it will grant us 1 point of chi, it is an emergency cure. It has high mana consumption and good healing potency. The mana expenditure makes up for it by generating chi point.
  • Renewing mist: We will use CD to generate chi. With the Mist Puddle talent on, we must avoid reaching 3 charges since time would be wasted.
  • Expel damage: We will use CD to generate chi. With the glyph of Directed Expulsion we will heal the selected target.
  • Wave of chi (talent level 30): We will use it to DC.
  • Enveloping fog: We will use it while channeling Comforting Mist to consume chi and heal the target. Consumes 3 Chi and heals a large amount of health over time in addition to increasing the healing of Comforting Mist by 30% for 6 seconds.
  • Chi Brew: Generates 1 charge of Mana tea and 2 chi points. Avoid accumulating 2 charges so as not to waste time. The most advisable thing is to always have 1 charge for emergencies and when the 2nd charge wins, consume it, so it will always be generating charges and constantly giving us a little extra chi.

With this priority list we will heal 1 target quite well. Remember to spend the loads of Mana tea to recover mana.

To multiple targets

  • Comforting mist: Like a target rotation, we will constantly use it on a wounded target in our "free time" (when we do not use other abilities).
  • Renewing mist: We will use it to CD. We must never allow 3 charges to accumulate. The optimal thing is to get the renewing fog to be present on 6 or more targets constantly, so always throw renewal fog on targets that do not have it and it will already spread to other injured targets. With large amounts of multistrike we will use this ability very constantly, do not use this ability if you have maximum chi or you will waste a charge, you must spend the chi first in that case.
  • Rushing Jade Wind: We will use this ability to heal the entire band when it is together. His healing and mana consumption are high. It will grant us 1 point of chi if he heals more than 3 allies.
  • Chi Burst (talent level 45): We will use it when the raid is together, placing ourselves behind the entire raid so that it reaches all allies.
  • To inspire: Use to expend Chi and heal targets affected by Renewing Mist. Make sure there are 6 or more Renewing Mist targets to take advantage of the healing.
  • Chi Brew: Same as when you heal a target. Use it to gain chi avoiding accumulating the 2 charges and save 1 for emergencies.

Like to heal a target, use Mana tea to recover mana in your spare time or when you need it.

Style of the Resolute Crane

This basic "rotation" is to generate and expend chi in the Style of the Resolute Crane.

El Style of the Resolute Crane allows us to damage our enemies with considerable damage in exchange for sacrificing healing. It can be used in moments of low damage to the band to provide an extra damage such as at the beginning of an encounter, we will also generate many charges of Mana tea since we will generate and spend chi quite quickly .. During this style 50% of the damage inflicted will heal allies, this healing is done by the jade dragon statue so make sure it is close to the band.

There is practically no difference between damaging 1 target or multiple unless we used the talent Chi blast, which hurts us at tier 18.

Remember to spend Renewing mist before the start of the fight to start with 5 points of chi.

En Style of the Resolute Crane we will benefit from the passive Crane style techniques. Spinning Crane Kick/Rushing Jade Wind It will not heal in this style directly, but it will damage enemies and 50% of this damage will heal allies thanks to the passive Eminence.

No Chi Blast (normal)

  • Stir: We will use it to generate chi. If there are 3 or more enemies we will use Spinning Crane Kick/Jade wind .
  • Kick of the rising sun: We will use it to CD. With puddle of fog we have 3 charges.
  • Tiger palm: We will use it to spend chi and maintain profit Tiger power that ignores the enemy's armor by 30%. Each Tiger palm gives us a load of Vital mist. Each load of Vital mist reduces mana cost and cast time of Wave of fog 20%, on the 5th charge it will be instantaneous and free.
  • Dark kick: We will use it to spend chi and maintain the Zeal of the Crane benefit that increases our critical by 20%. 20% of Dark Kick's damage will heal 4 wounded allies.
  • Wave of chi (talent level 30): We will use it to DC.
  • Wave of fog: We will use it to heal a wounded ally. We will use it with 5 charges of Vital Mist.

With an explosion of chi

As we have mentioned before, if we have tier 18 we will not use the talent Chi blast. If you do not have tier 18 this rotation will be the most optimal to heal and hit at the same time in Style of the Resolute Crane.
  • Stir: We will use it to generate chi. We must accumulate 4 chi points.
  • Chi blast: We will use it with 4 chi points to cause its greatest effect.
  • Kick of the rising sun: We will use it to CD.
  • Wave of chi (talent level 30): We will use it to CD.
  • Tiger palm: We will use it every 20 seconds to maintain the Power of the Tiger effect.
  • Wave of fog: We will use it in case of reaching 5 charges of vital fog.

Healing dynamics

With the above priorities we will make sure to constantly heal and generate chi to spend on healing. We will also generate charges of Mana Tea by spending chi which will allow us to maintain our mana. Still it is important to know which cure to use depending on the situation to heal properly.

  • Comforting mist: It is our basic and channeled cure. We will always use it to heal small amounts of damage when we do not have to use the rest of the abilities. We will interrupt and resume the channeling many times as well as change our objective a lot. It allows us to launch Enveloping fog y Wave of fog instantly.
  • Renewing mist: It is a cure in time. When cast, it will emit 2 extra mists to 2 other injured targets, placing a total of 3 mists per cast. We must always use it to CD to keep the mists on as many targets as possible. Its healing is not very high but it is constant and it will also allow us to heal with To inspire. Generates 1 point of chi.
  • To inspire: It is our healing in area. Heal all targets affected by Renewing mist. Its healing is moderate and consumes 2 chi. We will use it to lift lives en masse.
  • Wave of fog: It is our emergency cure. Heals quite a good amount and consumes quite a bit of mana. We will always use it to raise the life of allies in conjunction with Comforting mist for instant use. Generates 1 point of chi.
  • Enveloping fog: It is a very powerful time healing. It consumes 3 Chi points but heals a large amount of health in 6 seconds. We will use it to lift lives in an emergency. We will always use it while channeling Comforting mist to make it instantaneous.

In addition to the basic skills mentioned above to heal, generate and spend chi, we must use other skills to enhance our healing, protect allies, mitigate damage, etc.

  • Thunder Focus Tea: Our next rejoinder Wave of fog or power our next Renewing mist causing him to jump to 2 more targets. It is an effective healing CD with only a 45 second cooldown. It also has no global cooldown and does not interrupt our channels. We will use it in the face of high massive damage along with Renewing mist to cover more allies with To inspire or to heal 1 dying target as an emergency by combining it with Wave of fog.
  • Revival: It is our band CD par excellence. Instantly heals all allies within 40 yards for a large amount of health and dispels all their Poison, Disease, and Magic debuffs. Has a 3 minute cooldown. Use it to lift the lives of the entire gang in an emergency or to heal massive massive damage.
  • Vital chrysalis: Places a high damage absorption on the target and increases periodic healing received by 50. Lasts 12 seconds and has a 1 minute and 20 second cooldown. It is a very powerful defensive CD. Typically you will use it to protect a tank from heavy damage or to prevent it from dying in an emergency. I recommend using Enveloping fog about the goal of Vital chrysalis as it will heal 50% more and the healing of Enveloping fog it is already quite high in itself.
  • Dragon Offering Mastery: Although it is our passive mastery, it is important to mention it. When healing we have a chance equal to the percentage of mastery to summon a nearby healing sphere. These spheres heal by passing over them. They last 30 seconds. If no one uses them in those 30 seconds they explode and heal the closest ally.
  • Detonate chi: Explodes all Healing Spheres, causing them to heal wounded allies within 12 yards. It only has a 10 second cooldown. We will use it to support our healing if there is massive damage and there are spheres near the band. It is also useful to use it if the band is going to change position and there are spheres available, to take advantage of them and not get lost.
  • Wave of chi : (talent level 30): We will use it to CD. Bounce between allies and enemies, healing and dealing damage. This talent we will take when the band remains separated or if there are few objectives (as in a dungeon).
  • Chi Burst: We will use it to heal the band when it is together. Heals in a straight line from our position to our front, therefore we must position ourselves behind the band to reach everyone. Has a 30 second cooldown.
  • Wastewater Treatment: Our ability to dispel magic, disease, and poison.
  • Summon Jade Dragon Statue: Summons a statue at the targeted location that heals a wounded target with Comforting mist when you use Comforting mist, which means that we will heal 2 targets at the same time (or double if we heal the most injured target). Also heals for 50% of the damage dealt in Style of the Resolute Crane by Eminence. You must have this statue always present in combat and within reach of allies. It has a range of 40 meters in Wise Dragon Style and 20 meters of range in Style of the Resolute Crane.
  • Mana tea: It is the ability that makes the Mistweaver Monk unique among healers. Allows you to recover mana. Loads of Mana tea are earned by spending 4 chi points, every 4 chi points 1 charge of mana tea with the possibility of gaining 1 extra charge (this possibility is equal to the critical percentage you have). Each load ofMana tea mana equal to twice the spirit (do not count benefits as trinket procs). When channeling it, we spend 1 charge every 0,5 seconds.
  • Tonic Brew: Defensive CD. We will use it against high damage. 3 minute cooldown.
  • Mitigate damage (level 75 talent): Use this defensive DC against high physical damage.
  • Blur magic (Level 75 Talent): Use this defensive DC to mitigate large amounts of magic damage.
  • Seasoned Brew: Removes all Root, Stun, Fear, and Horror effects. Useful in PvP.
  • Touch of death: Deals damage equal to your maximum health. It can be used when the enemy has less health than you or when it falls below 10% of its health. Useful for dealing damage to a boss below 10%.
  • Spear hand strike: Ability to cut the enemy's spellcasting. 10 second cooldown.
  • Transcendence: We post a copy at our location for 15 minutes. When using Transcendence: Transfer swap the positions of our monk and copy it. Useful to quickly switch between 2 positions as in Archimonde's Ping-Pong strategy, among others.

Tier 18 is really powerful. We will notice a big difference having it. The first bonus applies Postponed life to the initial objectives of Renewing mist, increasing healing received by 15% and healing them. The second bonus causes half of the healing of enveloping fog e to inspire also heal those affected by Postponed life.

Macros

The Mistweaver Monk does not require many macros, although it all depends on the user's comfort. The most advisable are those that allow us to interrupt the casting of spells or those that allow us to cast a spell without marking the target, remember that the latter is necessary to create a shortcut in the Keyboard menu in the slot of the action bar where it is find said ability to launch it by pressing.

-Chi Burst (interrupt our throw to launch Chi Burst)

#Showtooltip Chi Burst

/ stopcasting

/ cast Chi Burst

-Chi wave (interrupt our launch to launch a burst of chi)

#showtooltip Wave of Chi

/ stopcasting

/ cast Wave of Chi

-Lance Hand Strike (interrupt our throws to use Spear Hand Strike)

#showtooltip Spear Hand Strike

/ cast [target = mouseover] Vital Chrysalis

addons

  • Deadly Boss Mods (DBM)/Bigwigs: Must-have addon for raids and dungeons. It shows how long it will take for the enemy to use their abilities and also displays visual and audible warnings, warnings.
  • elvui: Set of add-ons in a batch that will totally change your interface. If you are used to the blizzard interface, you may be struck by the new interface at first, but it is certainly more flexible and configurable than the one that comes by default.
  • WeakAuras 2: An incredible addon. It is used to create any type of visual and / or auditory element. You can create custom alerts, icons showing buffs / debuffs, cast bars, channeling, reload times, and much more. Created auras can be shared. It is difficult to use at first, but it is worth it.
  • Launch Raid Tools: Very complete addon with a multitude of functions that will help us a lot in band. Especially recommended for officers and band leaders.
  • BestInSlot: Addon that allows us to create configurations of the BiS equipment to better manage ourselves in band. Very useful its Summary function that reminds us which BiS equipment each boss gives us.
  • Click: It allows us to use the skills with the mouse on the band squares. Very useful to heal directly without clicking on the targets. It will save us creating target = mouseover macros.
  • healbot/VuhDo: Own band frame interface that allows you to use skills by hovering over names, such as Clique or target = mouseover macros. Very configurable both.

All these addons (except Elvui) and many more are available at http://www.curse.com/addons/wow

Personal opinion

The Mistweaver Monk is a highly versatile healer capable of healing many raid members at the same time and being able to heal large amounts of damage individually. His dynamics with mana tea makes him a healer with a lot of capacity to manage the amount of mana, which I love and that well taken makes him the healer with the most durability in combat.

His Reanimation CD is very powerful and his Life Chrysalis is a great CD for tanks so the Mistweaver has a great band assist. If we add to this his great mobility makes him a very effective healer.

Also with the resolved crane style our abilities change like a DPS which allows us to hit the enemies and heal the allies a little. It is not used much but it gives it a rather peculiar touch to put you on melee and provide damage in moments of low damage to the band.

I encourage everyone to try the Mistweaver Monk, I recommend it 100%. It may be difficult at first because his way of healing by generating and spending chi to heal and the way of recovering mana is different from other healers, but it can certainly be used a lot and it is quite a fun class.

Good luck to everyone. If you have any questions you can ask me directly through the comments. All the best!

    Hello,
Is there a way to not always top the overhealing recount?
By keeping the renewing mist to CD it is inevitable that they will have it with life-packed goals.
    Thank you, greetings.

Unfortunately our overhealing cannot be reduced. The renewing mist must be maintained on many targets in order to heal them with inspire when needed. It is also our best way to generate chi to control mana.
One way to optimize healing to get more out of it is with the last tier. You must always throw the mist on targets that take or will take damage to apply Delayed Life to them (only applies to the first target in each mist). This way, the healing from Inspire and the Enveloping Mist will heal these targets and take advantage of that extra healing.
We are a class with a lot of overhealing for now, maybe in Legion that will change.
      Hope that helps, best regards!

Thank you very much for the answer 🙂
The fog is only supposed to jump to wounded targets but of course, as you say you have to continue casting mists to maintain the chi and mana with which the overhealing is triggered. Let's see if in legion they correct it a bit. It occurs to me that every effective cure from a mist (every tick it heals) generates chi instead of every cast. I don't know what could be done.
    Regards!
