Interview with an MVP: Disassembling Proenix

Tonight we have our friend with us Proenix. Yes, friends, that wonderful MVP (Highly Valued Chicken) whom we have been following the lead for a long time to interview. Although we didn't want to overwhelm him in his early days as MVP, after his engaging and engaging interview we did not want to forget him and return the "friendly" favor.

For this interview we have used I asked our collaborator for help Mortiphilia, a very active character in the official forums, where he is known as Topi. And how could it be less, our friend izildra she signs up (rather she pointed a shotgun at us) to this interview as Official President of her Fan Club (don't forget to stop by your page on facebook to rave with her about certain characters in the Community 😉).

And without further ado ...

Topi: High! Before we start, Login! Introduce yourself to the community!

At your service!
I am Proenix from Minahonda and I belong to the MVP program of the official forums.

Let's talk a bit about WoW and what you look like as a gamer.

Topi: How long have you been playing WoW?

Approximately since mid-2006, a few months before the Spanish kingdoms opened and the game was localized into Spanish.

Topi: How did you meet him?

For years I have been a player of the 3 main Blizzard sagas: Diablo, Starcraft and Warcraft.

The first time I heard about World of Warcraft was when I bought Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, inside in addition to the game manual and installation discs, I found a small catalog with other products of the company and among its pages I found one large two page image with small text and “coming soon” in large letters under the World of Warcraft logo.

That image was this.

Topi: What do you like the most?

Without a doubt, the 5-player dungeons and the gang dungeons give the possibility of being part of the history that surrounds Azeroth and its characters and see how the story evolves and develops little by little.
Taking part in the battlefields is also quite fun for me.

Topi: And the least?

Although I can't say that I don't like them, I think that the arenas and the continuous changes that take place around them mean that they don't attract me at all, although from time to time I participate in them.

Topi: The time that you have been helping the community, and that you dedicate to it is incredible, what prompted you to start?

The truth is that since I started playing until I visited the forums for the first time, quite a few months passed, I remember that it coincided shortly after the Spanish forums were opened and as I have never been a regular at any forum of any subject since I barely visited it.

My participation in the World of Warcraft forums I have to admit that at the beginning it was quite poor and of poor quality but as my experience in the game increased, that "bug" of the forums also grew; I went from visiting sporadically to starting to participate in it, focusing on those sub-forums that most interested me or most caught my attention until little by little today I believe that I maintain an active and almost daily participation in most of them.

For a couple of years now, using the forum in my free time has been an entertainment that also enriches my experience in the game. Every contribution that I make, I try to do it being aware of what I write, with respect and with the intention that it will contribute something to the subject that is being discussed; I flee from trivial discussions that I know in advance that will not come to a good end, thus avoiding any type of conflict; Being able to inform myself and the possibility of informing / helping the rest of the Spanish community in what is possible and within my possibilities is gratifying for me.

Topi: We are already getting to know you a little better, if you agree, we will move on to your work as MVP ...

Agree.

Topi: The million dollar question that everyone expects What is it to be MVP?

An MVP arises when Elune blesses your fingers granting you the ability to write in green and the ability to fly so as never to be captured by any bipedal race.

Topi: A good definition, but ... Sure you can be a little more descriptive ...

An MVP is a public recognition offered by the Community Team based on their criteria.

Being quite active in the forum and helping the community, as well as maintaining and creating a good atmosphere helped greatly. I also had the support of a large part of the rest of the users and on several occasions they showed me their support. From here thanks =)

Of course, just as they offer you to participate in the program, they can take you out of it when the Community Team deems it appropriate.

Topi: How did you feel when they told you that you had been chosen to be in the MVP program?

It was a great surprise to go read the email as usual and find an email in English from Blizzard, the first thing I thought was that it would be false.

After examining it a bit and seeing its origin and its content, the truth is that I was very surprised to find that there.

I took a few hours to think about it and proceeded to answer it, accepting the opportunity that was given me. And here I am =)

Topi: Since you have received the green letters ... Do you notice that something has changed?

My attitude remains the same or I try to keep it, it is evident that writing in green makes you stand out a bit from other users and sometimes that makes you think that "you should or should not write" or if "it would be correct or not to say something thing »but far from that the reception was wonderful by all the people, both by acquaintances and strangers and both in the forum and within the game.

I have only been a couple of months and sometimes I am surprised when I am recognized for example in a random dungeon or on a battlefield, I have to admit that at the same time it is very nice, so far I have not received more than samples of support.

Topi: Do you notice that you have more responsibilities or obligations since the appointment?

At the beginning there are always doubts and nerves, but with the passage of time the channel always returns to the river. I do not have any responsibility or obligation beyond that of any other user who must respect the rules of conduct.

I try to dedicate part of the free time that I have only, the day that it involves a job or an effort to read and / or write in the forums, I think that will be the moment when I should stop being an MVP.

trace: And do you have any alter to flame? Sure you do, don't fool us ... hehehe

I admit that I once wrote with a different character than Proenix, but that was many years ago, since then I have never selected a different character to write in them.

Topi: A memory exercise! Do you remember any special person or situation that you helped and you felt great, like "I am the cane"?

The truth is that I do not remember any case like this in particular since any help that I can offer is not far from what any other user of the forum can give.

What if I am perhaps more proud so to speak, are the years that I have been dedicating to giving assistance in the test realms, I try to translate information, help and basically guide people who have problems when accessing them, Being tests, anything unexpected can happen, so Blizzard staff cannot always be attentive to all the messages that are published in the forum.

Helping people in the game and tech support subforums, especially during patch times, I also know is quite appreciative.

I especially like to carry out large threads with a large collection of information that must be updated little by little as new information emerges or news about it is published; I know that it is something that many people like since it is a place where people know that they can go to find some information or ask something about which they have any doubts.

Topi: And at some point when you thought «And what is this guy doing?» after having helped him?

Well, there are always people who do not like the solution you give them, even if it is the only viable one, either because it is very tedious or complicated and they do not answer in the best possible way. But it is something that I can count on the fingers of my hand, in general people are very kind and grateful.

Topi: You always look very relaxed and calm in the forums, despite the different flames that usually exist. Did you ever think "I'll quit" after one of these situations?

There are always times when you feel more upbeat than others when it comes to reading and writing on the forums. For me it is entertainment and as such I have never considered leaving it permanently, if I do not feel like it or I do not feel like it, then I do not visit them.

As with anyone, there are certain topics that are usually discussed that exasperate me, but I am clear that my participation will always be (or at least will be tried) in those places where I think I can contribute something, my intention is not to change the way of think about people facing certain issues.

trace: Don't hog Proenix, Topi! I have to ask you questions ... 😀

O_O

trace: What did you think of the Minahonda event? Did you expect something like that when you were named MVP?

Not at all, I never thought that people would bother to create characters in another realm to do nothing in particular, because nothing special was programmed and it was something set up on very short notice.

I wasn't expecting so many people and I had a really good time, especially when a couple of Game Masters showed up to liven things up a bit.

trace: Come on, confess, Izildra doesn't scare you a little?

As long as I can't smell it, I'll say NO.

trace: What did you think when you saw the Facebook group? I hope you take it well, because I did it with all the love of my little heart: 3

That you are crazy, without a doubt. It didn't bother me, I took it as a joke. What I don't understand is how there were people who volunteered to join the group.

trace: Good and now we move on… to more personal questions !!!
Topi: Did you think they were over?
Both:Bwahahahaha

Oh no… :__(

trace: Summer or winter?

Can I say autumn?

trace: Beach or mountain?

Mountain. Although either of the two would do me good as long as there is company.

Naini thinks: Was that a hint? It seemed to me that Izildra was turning red ...

trace: What do you like to do other than play wow?

Both the World of Warcraft and the forum are entertainment that I combine with other hobbies in my spare time. I love doing sports and reading, generally I prefer any activity that can be done in company.
Oh and whenever I can I look for some friends and we try to practice «Paintball»

trace: I'll take it for granted that you like women, and in order to win you over one day ... How do you like girls?

I have totally given up on that aspect. I don't think I'll ever find a cute troll who fits my expectations and has the patience to put up with me. They are also so few ... = (

trace: Wow! I see that then I am perfect for you. Feels Topi, the druid is mine.

Naini thinks: It gives me that Izildra was going to answer that whatever Proenix said ...

Topi: Izi, stay still a second that we are not finished yet (and the chunk of druid that I want is still mine, whatever you say!)

Topi: Mouseclicker or Bindeas until the food?

I recognize that I am a mouseclicker, I use some macros created by me but they are just and necessary. It would bore me tremendously having everything blessed.

Topi: Do you find any Add-on essential or do you prefer the basic wow interface?

Although I don't like having the user interface overly loaded, luckily Blizzard is gradually adding more functions to the basic interface of the game.

During the Burning Crusade, a threat meter, like the Omen, was absolutely essential for me. Nowadays addons like "Shadowed Unit Frames" allow me to make the basic interface of the game a little more attractive and place the portraits of the characters wherever I want, among other options.

Topi: I think you are a great connoisseur of the history of WoW ... What or what are your favorite characters?

One of the characters that arouses me the most is Rexxar, a member of the almost extinct tribe of the Mok'Nathal. This tribe has the peculiarity of being half orc and half ogre.

It was a fundamental part in the foundation of Durotar. He led the attack on Theramore to end the siege that Admiral Proudmoore (Jaina Proudmoore's father) was carrying out on the Orc newcomers to Durotar.

Following the victory and death of the Admiral, Warchief Thrall invited Rexxar to join the Horde and made him Champion of the Horde.

In World of Warcraft he has only appeared on two occasions, once in Desolace patrolling with Misha and in the Burning Crusade in the Blade's Edge Mountains, where some members of the Mok'Nathal tribe reside where he searches as many members of his almost extinct clan and where perhaps one day he can make peace with his father Leoroxx, still resentful of his son's decision to join the Horde.

Topi: If I ask you what your day to day is, you will surely kill me with one claw, even so ... I'll take a risk! Teach us everything we can learn from Proenix!

The time I use to read and write on the forum I usually share it with the time I also use to play the game using their timeouts to check them out.

As usual, I usually look at the e-mail first, since at the same time the news that has been published in the fansites (both Spanish and foreign), on the official page of the game and the messages of the « blues »Americans, English and Spanish.

Later I usually visit those subforums that interest me the most to read and comment where I see it necessary or where the subject that is being discussed catches my attention.

The custom has made me know (although in reality it is a lottery) when Blizzard usually announces something worldwide so sometimes I do tend to be attentive in case I catch any news.

Although it may seem that the opposite, I do not spend hours and hours looking at the forums, I usually have a window open with them and look at it from time to time; as everything is practical and over time you gain skill when using them giving you the possibility to look or search for things more quickly.

Topi: Well ... we are already finishing the interview, but we still have more questions to ask you! Now they turn to questions related to Cataclysm.

Topi: There is a huge shower of changes with Cataclysm… What is the change you look forward to most?

I am especially looking forward to testing how exactly the Path of the Titans and the new Mastery stat will work, I think that along with the announced changes to the attributes it will be quite interesting to be able to customize our character even more.

I personally really like to raise or lower certain statistics, put or remove an object to try to get the most out of the character.

Topi: And the one you hope they change their mind?

I hope they focus especially on the races of each race, making some races that are currently somewhat "useless" more attractive and give them a greater prominence since they form a basic part of our character.

Topi: What are you going to try first? A goblin or a worgen?

First of all I will surely go up to level 85 and explore the new content. Although I am not very fond of uploading new characters, I will at least certainly complete the new starting areas for both races.

Topi: And the big question ... Your affinity with the gnomes is almost nil, but you are an alliance. Will you first help the Gnomes to recover Gnomeregan or the Trolls to recover their islands?

Since I have no high-level characters in the horde, I have performed the Fall of Zalazane event in the trial realms. I will hold out until the event is available in the public realms to aid Operation Gnomeregan.

It's great that the gnomes are going to have their own starting area…. so they can all be together for when I go to visit º, _, º

Topi: If you were given the chance to be a MJ for a day, without limitation to do what you please, what would you do?

I don't think I would answer requests if you ask for that hahaha.

The truth is that it would be interesting to know what tools they work with and how far their possibilities go within the game.

I imagine that if I could be a Game Master for a day the first thing I would do would be to take care of the ozone layer of Azeroth to prevent the Northrend thaw, feed the poor gnolls, buy new candles from the kobols, eliminate the gnome race from the game, save the poor Murlocs from continued certain death and of course pay a visit to Gamon and Hogger with my new powers ... you know, ultimately what would any of us do if given that opportunity ... or not? =)

trace: Last question, dear Proenix, and the most important, the one we all wait for: Do you want to marry me? 😀

You know that yours are not pure feelings, I have been able to observe that now your new platonic love is another ... someone a little more "undead", according to your tastes, and although I find myself totally desolate I hope you will be happy for the centuries of the ages. 😀

And to close the interview we give you carte blanche, would you like to say something? (Any greetings to your fans? XD)

Since I have the opportunity, I will take the opportunity to, from here, thank the Community Team for their work for / for the community and the Spanish fansites for the great work they do by publishing daily updates with great and varied content, as well as timely information about the game.

On a personal basis, I can only thank you for the support, encouragement and respect that is offered to me both in the official forums and in the game and I hope that you have at least had fun reading this interview for a while.

Thank you very much Proenix, for having participated in this interview. And above all for your great work in the forums and for always being attentive to everyone, whether they are players, fansites or murlocs. We sincerely hope that you will continue to be "greenish" for a long time. And of course, we have more events by Izildra to see you in Minahonda 😉

Thanks to you, I hope that we will meet again, at the very least, when the Cataclysm comes to an end.

And so ends this interview that has let us know much more about this great person who is always there when he is needed because he: "I could help you."
