Chronology (III) - The prelude to the great wars

Troll Wars

The Quel'Dorei reached the western shores of the devastated continent now known as the Eastern Kingdoms, and founded their first civilization in the present-day Tirisfal glades. There, they had contact with the first humans who had awakened in the world, and with the troll. The humans posed no threat, hardly a scattered tribal civilization, but the troll were well organized and had their capital, Zul'Aman, just north of their current position. Apart from these guerrillas against outsiders, the elves who crossed the great sea to find a new land encountered another problem in their current position, and that is that at night they were all victims of nefarious whispers that did not allow them to sleep. . It was for this reason that they decided to venture north, and founded their great capital, Quel'Thalas, north of the Amani troll capital, Zul'Aman.

Clashes raged, and humans were on the brink of extinction at the hands of the fierce troll, when a human, Warchief Thoradin, leader of the Arathi, along with his friend and great general Ignaeus (later known as Trollbane ), seeing his race threatened, decided to act. His idea was to wage war with the rest of the human races, and once bowed, offer them peace and annex themselves to them. This is how he founded the first human kingdom, called Arathor, in the territory now known as Hillsbrad Foothills, in the Arathi Highlands, with its capital in the city of Strom.

Humans began to organize around their city and its leader, and their civilization was saved from troll siege. Meanwhile, in the north, the elves were not so lucky, and were being wiped out by the fierce Amani troll. In this situation, Anasterian Sunwalker, son of Dath'Remar, sent diplomats to deal with humans. Although the elves did not initially distinguish between humans and troll, Thoradin saw the danger of allowing the elves to disappear from the face of Azeroth, and sent help. The pact they established allowed 100 humans to learn control over arcane energies, and for Strom to mobilize to aid the elves to the north.

The war began in the Alterac Mountains, and for days neither the human-elf alliance nor the indomitable troll gave ground. In this situation, the human and elven leaders decided to begin the magical siege against the troll, and the rains of fire began. The troll had never witnessed arcane energies, and the energies unleashed by the human and elven camps wreaked havoc on the morale of the troll, who were unable to regenerate the wounds inflicted with this magical fire. Finally, with the help of the sorcerers, the alliance of humans and elves managed to withdraw the troll forces to their capital, inflicting a devastating blow on them, destroying their empire.

At the end of the war, the surviving mages, both elves and humans, decided to found a city to preserve their knowledge and to continue teaching more disciples, despite Thoradin's reluctance. This city-state would be called Dalaran, and it would be the home of the Kirin-Tor order. In addition to Dalaran, and thanks to the disappearance of the troll threat, humans began to spread through the Eastern Kingdoms and founded more city-states, such as Stormwind and Lordaeron.

The Dune Sea War

qiraji-ahn-quiraj

A thousand years after the first cataclysm, the Qiraji managed to assemble an army large enough to threaten the survival of all the races of Kalimdor. Their first wave of attacks was brutal, but luckily, the night elves reacted in time and managed to delay them long enough to organize a military force to oppose them. This army led by Archdruid Fandral Steeple and his son Valstann was sent into the unforgiving wastes of Silithus with the sole objective of destroying the Qiraji menace.

After much effort they managed to advance on their way to Silithus, but within days of the battle against the Qiraji they received a message that the Southwind Village was under attack. Valstann asked his father to leave him a detachment so that he could go to defend the village, Fandral, reluctantly, finally granted him the favor. Valstann immediately set off for battle while Fandral continued to fight the bulk of the Qiraji army. Days passed and Fandral received no information related to his son, concern and grief took hold of him. On the third day after his son's departure, General Rajaxx, leader of the attackers, appeared in one of the Qiraji attacks and was carrying a badly wounded Valstann in one of his pincers. Fandral, shocked, threw himself into combat, but when he saw his son die at the hands of that monster he collapsed, and that day the battle was won by the Qiraji when the military force of the elves withdrew.

Fandral, desperate, asked the Bronze Flight for help, but they continually refused it until one day The Caverns of Time, the base of action for the Bronze Flight, was attacked by the Qiraji. Anachronos, angered by the pride of the insectoids, decided to join the elves to combat the threat, and not only did the Bronze Flight come, but also a support came from each of the other Flights, led by the children of the Aspects, these were: Merithra, daughter of Ysera of the Green Flight; Caelestrasz, son of Alexstrasza del Rojo and Arygos, son of Malygos del Azul. Even with the power of the Dragons, the advance towards Silithus was agonizing because of the amount of the enemy's military power.

When they were near Ahn'Qiraj, the enemy's capital, reports came from the dragons flying over the city that there was something more ancient and terrifying than the Qiraji themselves. With that information, Fandral and the Dragons decided that the only thing they could do was contain the Qiraji within their own city. In a last desperate attack, the forces of the night elves managed to reach the city gates. Moving forward was impossible, so Merithra, Caelestrasz, and Arygos decided that they would contain the Qiraji within the city long enough for the barrier that enclosed them to be invoked. And so it was that while the dragons contained the Qiraji, Anacronos, Fandral and the other druids they invoked the barrier that would be called the Scarab Wall.

At the end of the spell, Anacronos created a gong from a scarab and the Scepter of the Dune Sea from the claw of one of his brothers, giving Fandral the gong, he told him that if any day mortals wanted to enter Ahn'Qiraj and destroy what had been locked there, they would only have to hit the gong with the Scepter and the doors would open. But Fandral, in an act of extreme pain and fury, broke the Scepter of the Sea of Dunes saying that no mortal would enter the city after all the damage caused.

In that stupid act, the scepter was broken into three parts that were given to a Guardian of each Flight. The guardians were: Azuregos of the Blue Flight, Vaelastrasz of the Red Flight and Eranikus of the Green Flight. After that, the elves built a lookout post on Silithus in case Ahn'Qiraj's threat ever managed to break out of its confinement.

The Creation of the Tirisfal council and the Last Guardian

When Dalaran was founded, human magicians abused their arcane power, thus causing long-banished agents of The Burning Legion to have a small loophole to pass through; They were little demons but they were scary enough for the non-magic-using population of Dalaran to speak of a revolution against the ruling magocracy.

At that time an order of elves from Quel'Thalas, called the Council of Silvermoon, made a pact with the wizards of Dalaran telling them the history of Azeroth, at which point the humans decided that they would fight a covert war against the demons of the Legion. Fiery, the Council of Silvermoon accepted the proposal knowing that if the majority of the human population learned that magic was the one that caused the entry of demons, they would fall into a spiral of fear and paranoia causing the absolute rejection of magic.

Thus was born the secret organization of the Council of Tirisfal, its name comes from the Glades of Tirisfal, very close to where the city of Lordaeron would be located. The Council decided that the only way to wage this war without anyone knowing was to give one of them all the arcane power available to the members of the Council of Tirisfal and for it to fight alone against any threat directed towards Azeroth.

Thus, the figure of the Guardian was created, which performed the function only for a limited time and it would be the council itself that decided which would be the next Guardian. After many years and many guardians having protected the world, it was decided that a young human would be the next. This talented mage named Aegwynn, the best candidate since the Council was founded, was imbued as a Guardian. On one of his expeditions, Aegwynn tracked down a group of demons to the distant continent of Northrend where he discovered that the dragons that inhabited there were being besieged by a large number of members of the Burning Legion. With the help of the dragons, he managed to banish all the demons from the continent and it was at the moment when he banished the last that, in the distance, an overwhelming presence appeared. That presence was the incarnation on Azeroth of the corrupted titan Sargeras. Aegwynn, knowing that if he left Sargeras alive he would destroy the entire world, decided to fight even knowing he had everything to lose. The Guardian, in a display of arcane mastery, defeated the avatar of Sargeras by destroying his physical casing and causing him to not threaten all existing life. But he did not realize that the spiritual part of the titan took a hole in his soul, helping his plans for the world.

After this battle, Aegwynn returned to her home and continued to protect it until the Council decided that her time as Guardian was over, at which point greed took hold of her and she decided that she would be the one to choose the next Guardian, the council, though dismayed and enraged, he knew that if the Guardian was not willing they could not take away his powers. Over time, Aegwynn had the conviction that the next Guardian would be his son, with this objective, he seduced Nielas Aran with whom he conceived his son Medivh.

He grew up happily raised by his father in Stormwind and befriended Prince Llane Wrymm and Anduin Lothar. But one day, walking through Stranglethorn Vale, they were attacked by two jungle trolls, these were destroyed by Medivh, but at the cost of the wizard falling into a coma. The coma was induced by Sargeras' spirit, which was transferred from his mother to him without his realizing it. Twenty years later he woke up with complete control of his powers as a Guardian, but controlled by Sargeras, which led him to have a surly personality against anyone.

Fed up with humans, Medivh locked himself in the Karazhan tower to find a way to destroy all living things. At that time, he began to modify the flow of Ley energies, making Karazhan the center of all those that crossed the Eastern Kingdoms. Concerned about such activity, the blue flight sent Arcanagos to investigate what happened. The dragon found that the epicenter of the problem was the ancient tower of Karazhan, and its mysterious tenant. He confronted Medivh and urged him to cease his attempts, but the wizard, possessed by Sargeras, fought against the blue leviathan.

The battle was brief, and Medivh used his powerful guardian magic to launch an attack that completely burned down Arcanagos, hurling his remains into the mountains of Death Pass. It was around this time that he began to search outside the world of Azeroth and discovered that he could gain access to a vast army that would target just what he needed….

The Opening of the Dark Portal

The orcs were a peaceful shamanistic society that had lived in communion with the spirits for more than 5.000 years, and had shared the secrets of nature with their extraterrestrial neighbors, the draenei, arriving in their ship at Tempest Keep.

It was precisely the presence of the draenei on Draenor that caused the Legion to set their sights on the peaceful orcs, and that is how Kil'Jaeden deceived the orc warchief, the leader of the Shadowmoon clan, in his dreams. Ner'Zhul, and it made him think that his neighbors, the draenei, were hatching a plot to assassinate him. Ner'Zhul mobilized all the orcs and began the slaughter of draeneis, thinking that this was saving not only his survival, but that of all orcs, but as more and more innocent draeneis fell under his ax, he realized that, Aside from the horns and clothing he wore, this "Almighty", as Kil'Jaeden presented himself, bore an extraordinary resemblance to the draenei, and furthermore, the hatred he processed towards the peaceful figure of Velen did not match the of a divine individual.

Worried and bewildered, Ner'Zhul went to the sacred stone of Osho'Gun in Nagrand to consult with his ancestors. There he discovered the truth, and also the answer to why the elements had not responded to his call and that of the rest of the shamans for a long time: they had been fooled by Kil'Jaeden to fight as pawns in their war, and neither the ancestors nor the elements considered them worthy. Ner'Zhul was willing to confront his demonic master, but his most gifted disciple, Gul'Dan, had followed him to Osho'Gun, and contacted Kil'Jaeden before Ner'Zhul could confront him. The eredar promoted Gul'Dan to the position of his master, and stripped Ner'Zhul of all his powers, placing him in a merely decorative position.

Ner'Zhul was unable to warn any of his brothers of the mistake they were making, and was unable to prevent the descent into decay they were making, ignoring the call of the elements and exchanging it for fel energies. Meanwhile, Gul'Dan placed Black Hand, leader of the Blackrock clan, as warchief, while he himself, secretly, and without Ner'Zhul being able to do anything about it, created the Council of Shadows, the true power behind the Horde.

Gul'Dan invited all kinds of warlocks, necromancers and even ogres to join the Council of Shadows, one of the most important members of it was the first warlock ogre, the two-headed Cho'Gall. Gul'Dan's plans for the Shadow Council was to be the true power behind the power of the Horde, he and his Council were in charge of pulling the strings of politics and planning the attacks against the draenei, as well as enacting the use of fel energy and warlocks. The result of this ambition of Gul'Dan, was the choice of a female draenei to mate with a brave orc warrior and thus engender Garona Semi Orca, who would eventually become his chief of spies, thanks to extensive training and numerous mind control maneuvers by Cho'Gall.

The figure of Ner'Zhul had fallen into oblivion to most of the orcs, but nonetheless, this brought some freedom to him, as he roamed freely around the base of the Council of Shadows in the Temple of Karabor, in the Valley. Shadowmoon. This is how he discovered some documents that revealed the next step in controlling the orcs, giving them the blood of a demon to drink to make them an unstoppable force, completely loyal and obedient. One of the first orcs to drink Mannoroth's blood was the leader of the Hellscream clan, the impetuous Grom. Meanwhile, Ner'Zhul warned anyone who wanted to listen, and the only ones who did, were Durotan, leader of the Frostwolf clan, and his wife Draka, parents of the orc Go'El, later known in Azeroth by name. as a slave, Thrall.

As the extermination of the draenei raged, Kil'Jaeden vanished, leaving Gul'Dan at his mercy. It was at this time that the witcher contacted Medivh, the last Guardian of Azeroth, who asked him for an army, in exchange for a new world to be able to conquer under the power of his Horde.

The opening of the Dark Portal was the next step for the orc warlock's ambitious purposes ...
