The history of the Gurubashi Empire

The Gurubashi empire, made up of several kingdoms, was once one of the largest forces in Azeroth, controlling mostly most of the southern eastern continents. Its capital Zul'Gurub is located in Stranglethorn Vale. But finally this great nation separated into various tribes.

History

About 16,000 years ago, before the night elves recklessly provoked the wrath of the burning legion, the trolls ruled over most of Kalimdor (then a single continent), there were two troll empires, the empire gurubashi from the jungles of the southeast and the empire Amani of the forested lands of the interior, there were smaller tribes that inhabited the extreme north (in the region known today as Northrend).

These tribes founded a small nation called Gundrak, which never reached the size or prosperity of the southern empires.

The Gurubashi and Amani empires were not held in high esteem, but they almost never went to war. At that time their greatest common enemy was a third empire: the Azj'Aqir civilization. The Aqir were intelligent insectoids who occupied the lands of the far west. These cunning insectoids were permanently expanding and incredibly evil. The Aqir were obsessed with eradicating all living things other than insects from the fields of Kalimdor. Trolls fought them for thousands of years, but they were never able to achieve a true victory over the Aqir.

Eventually, due to the persistence of the trolls, the Aqiri kingdom split into two halves as its citizens formed separate colonies in the far north and far south regions of the continent. Two Aqiri city-states emerged: Azjol-Nerub, in the badlands of the north and Ahn'qiraj in the southern desert. Although the trolls suspected that there were other Aqiri colonies under Kalimdor, their existence was never verified.

When the insectoids went into exile, the twin troll empires returned to their day-to-day business. Despite its great victory, no civilization managed to expand far beyond its original borders. However, there are ancient texts that speak of a small faction of trolls that broke away from the Amani Empire and founded their own colony in the heart of the dark continent. There, these brave pioneers discovered the well of cosmic eternity, which transformed them into beings endowed with immense power, some legends suggest that these adventurous trolls were the first night elves, although this theory has never been proven.

The Wrath of the Soul Hunter

hackkar

The long centuries that followed the world's great cataclysm proved difficult for the troll race. Hunger and terror were common currency in their broken kingdoms. The Gurubashi trolls, driven to a desperate end, they sought help from mystical and ancient forces. While both role kingdoms shared a central belief in a great pantheon of primitive gods, the Gurubashi began to worship the darkest of them.

Hakkar the soul hunterA vile and bloodthirsty spirit, he heard the call of the trolls and decided to help them. Hakkar shared his blood secrets with the Gurubashi and helped them spread their civilization throughout most of Stranglethorn Valley and certain islands in the South Seas. While it provided them with great power, Hakkar wanted more and more for his purposes. The bloodthirsty god asked that souls be sacrificed on his altar daily. He intended to gain access to the physical world so that he could drink the blood of all mortal creatures. In time, the Gurubashi realized the kind of creature they had been dealing with and turned against him. The most powerful tribes rebelled against Hakkar and his loyal priests, the Atal'ai.

The terrible war that ensued between Hakkar's followers and the rest of the Gurubashi tribes is only discussed in whispers. The empire in the making was destroyed by unleashed magic between the angry god and his rebellious creatures. When the battle seemed to be lost, the trolls managed to destroy Hakkar's avatar, banishing him from the world. Even their Atal'ai priests were driven out of the capital of Zul'Gurub and forced to survive in the unknown swamps to the north. In those swampy lands they built a great temple to the fallen god, Atal'Hakkar, where they could continue the work of their master ...

The rest of the Gurubashi tribes dispersed after the great civil war that left their lands in ruins, the tribes Skullcrusher, Bloodskin y Black spear they marched in order to claim their own lands deep within the vast jungles of Stranglethorn. While there was a moment of fragile peace in the disintegrated empire, some spoke of a prophecy that one day Hakkar would be reborn into the world and, at that moment, reduce it to ashes.

The fall of Gurubashi

It is told in the fall of the Gurubashi empire that its last emperor was Var'gazul. From his capital he was preparing for war, to invade an unknown enemy. But their plans were thwarted by Neptulon and his Krakken, who destroyed all the land west of Zul'Gurub and buried the city of I'lalai under the sea on the now known Deadly Reef.

Return of the soul hunter

In their exile in the temple of Atal'Hakkar, the Atal'ai discovered that they could not revive Hakkar's physical form there, it was only possible in the ancient capital of the Gurubashi empire, Zul'Gurub.

In order to revive the ancient god, the Atal'ai trolls sent a contingent of High Priests to the ancient city. Each priest was a powerful champion of the original gods (bat, panther, tiger, spider, and snake) but despite their best efforts, they fell under the influence of Hakkar.

Champions and their Prime God appearances now fuel the awesome power of the Soul Hunter. Some brave adventurers decided to venture into the destroyed ruins to confront the God Hakkar.

After years

Following the defeat of Hakkar and his Gurubashi fanatics, the city fell and was gradually consumed by the jungle. But the Gurubashi still persist, and once again, the adventurers' help will be needed to stop the Gurubashi's dark purposes.
