The Worgen and the Druids of Gilneas

Hello everybody! The vast majority of you do not know anything about me but, the truth is that I have been collaborating with GuíasWoW a lot of time. Maybe it would be easier if I told you that I am the artist of the web mascot. I love to draw! I do drawings in general and they are usually related to World of Warcraft. You can see my gallery in Deviant Art And, if you like it, I can always do a commission job!
In addition to being a cartoonist, I am passionate about World of Warcraft and, especially, its history. Belelros asked me to do some Lore articles and, although it is a difficult job because I am from the United States and I write the articles in English, I think it will be worth what I have to tell you.

When Cataclysm was announced in BlizzCon '09, many of us were eager to hear the story behind the new Alliance race: The Worgen. Not much history was given until the Alpha started being (illegally) gutted, but a lot of that information was incomplete and left a lot of questions. Now, after being in Beta for a few months, I can answer a lot of Lore questions that you guys might have with the Worgen and Druids of Gilneas.

Originally, we understood that Worgen were mysterious creatures that no one knew about. We had assumed they were from Nether Void or from some other dimension. However, we now know that the Worgen were created by a sectarian order of Druids known as the Druids of the Scythe. These druids worshiped the demigod Ancestor Goldrinn, or better known as Lo'Gosh by the Orcs. But that power was too much for many of the Druids, and soon they became feral by the transformations.

The great Archdruid Malfurion rejected them and they lived in the wild until they were forced to sleep in the Emerald Dream, hidden under the great tree Tal'doren in the Forest of Black Mount in the southern part of Gilneas. But the Worgen form turned into a curse that slowly spread across Azeroth. Bill Archmage Ur began to study these creatures, but never got to invoke them from the Emerald Dream. He called these savage creatures werewolves "worgen," and wrote a book called The Book of Ur with your knowledge. This book later came into the hands of the Archmage Arugal.

Arugal lived in Gilneas, but later joined the ranks of the Kirin Tor. After the Plague destroy much of Dalaran, Arugal escaped Gilneas to the fortress which was later named after Darkfang Castle, and began to study Ur's investigations to summon the wild Worgen. At first, he destroyed much of the Scourge, but Arugal began to lose control over the creatures. Arugal began to go insane and began taking care of the Worgen he had summoned. These would be the worgen that would later attack the Humans of Gilneas.

However, around the same time that Arugal began summoning his Worgen, the Night Elf Sentinel Velinde Starsong he had been given the order to clean Ashenvale of the got damn that were plaguing the forests. When she felt that her efforts were not helping, she began to pray to Elune asking for your help and guidance. It seems that Elune answered her prayers when the Scythe of Elune appeared before her. When he brandished this weapon, he saw the Worgen fighting their horrible enemy in the Emerald Dream, known as the Lords of the Emerald Flame. Velinde began to focus on the scythe, and was soon able to communicate with the Worgen. Using the scythe to communicate, the barrier between Azeroth and the Emerald Dream was weakened and he was able to bring them into our world. However, like Arugal, he began to lose control and Velinde vanished without a trace alongside the Scythe of Elune.

Now that we've delved into the origins of the Worgen, let's learn more about the Humans of Gilneas. During the eating of the Second war, the King of Gilneas, Genn Greymane, did not support the alliance, because he thought his army was big enough to fight the war on his own. However, Greymane joined the Alliance due to his hatred of the orcs. After the end of the war, he withdrew his resources to the Alliance and built the Greymane Wall after his anger at seeing that the orcs were being kept alive in the concentration camps.

However, when they shut themselves off from the world, the once prosperous nation of Gilneas, began to lose its crops, coming the Famine. That's when the human known as Harvest Celestine and his druids began to worship the Madre Tierra, and healed the lands. Now, I know you are thinking: "Ginny, how did humans learn Druidism? Didn't the Night Elves teach it to you?"Well, according to Celestina, she is one of the few humans who" practice the ways of the old. " Now, by playing the Worgen starting zone in the beta, you will learn that their druidism is very similar to real-world druidism and practices. Wiccan. As a Worgen Druid, you originally worshiped Mother Earth, similar to the tauren, but many of the Druids later began to worship Goldrinn after learning of his existence.

Now, in Cataclysm, we see that many of the Darkfang Castle Worgen decided to explore beyond the Keep and attack Gilneas. Due to the Great Wall, the Gilneans are deprived of outside help and must deal with this attack on their own. After a few missions that I will not reveal to you, you will wake up years later, transformed into a Worgen. Having fought to save your home, you are needed once again to fight the Forsaken they have decided to "reclaim" their land. One of Genn's chemists has been trying to find a way to "cure" the curse by creating a potion that could help you maintain control over yourself as a Worgen.

As you battle the Forsaken, you encounter a Night Elf named Belrysa Starbreeze informing you that his people have come to help you with your curse. It is then that you find out about the Druids of the Scythe, and that the Forsaken have found the Scythe of Elune that had been under the great Tol'doren, and plan to use it to summon Worgen to use for their plans as well as control the accursed Gilneans. After returning the Scythe, Talran of the Wild, Vassandra Stormclaw, Lyros Swiftwind y they will help you drink from the waters of Tol'dorean, and you will be freed from the curse that forces you to have a Worgen aspect, gaining the ability to control your appearance.

After learning the origins of the worgen, many of the Gilneans worship Goldrinn now, and now have a small home within Darnassus due to the Forsaken siege of Gilneas. The alliance continues to fight Horde for control of the city and soon you will be able to join them on the new Cataclysm Battleground known as "The Battle for Gilneas."

I hope this answers many of your questions about Worgen and Gilneans.
