This guide will teach you the quickest and easiest way to increase your Mining profession from 1 to 600. Mining serves three professions: Blacksmithing, Engineering and Jewelry, so it is very good to combine it with any of them.
Mining Guide 1-600
First, visit any coach in major cities of ancient Azeroth-Just ask a guard, and learn Apprentice Mining.
Download the following addon: Gathermate2
This addon will show you all the mine point locations on your map. The addon and the database can be found here.
Don't forget to activate Find Minerals! Also don't forget to buy a Mining Pick from a Blacksmith supply vendor, they are usually near your mining trainer. The peak gives you +10 points.
1-50
You will mine [Copper Ore] in this section.
You should always melt your minerals to earn free points, the only exception is that you need the minerals for Jewelry, so you must not melt them.
50-100
Learn Official Mining. You will mine the following ores: [Tin Ore], [Silver Ore]
Hillsbrad Foothills is simply the best place to farm Tin. If you are an Alliance you should go there, but the North of Stranglethorn Vale is a great alternative. You will see a red area on the map, full of Tin, it is everywhere. When you've mined all of them, go outside the area where you can see the yellow arrows, mine a few Tin, and go back to the red zone because the Ores have probably already spawned.
100-150
You will mine the following ores in this section: [Iron Ore], [Gold Ore]
150-200
Learn Mining Expert. You will mine the following ores: [Ore of Mitril], [Ore of Veraplata]
Forest Fel and Burning Steppes are the best places to farm because the mining route is very simple in these two areas. Badlands is also a really good place, but I found a bit more Mithril in the other zones.
Don't go to Dreadmaul Rock. There is a lot of Mithril in the corner of the map, you won't be able to ride if you go inside the cave and it will delay you.
Alternative Map:
Badlands
Badlands is near the Burning Steppes, so if someone is already farming you can go to this area or if your level is not too high to go to the Burning Steppes. This area has a simple route to follow.
The red "x" on the map, go there only if your level is higher than the mobs in the cave. It is full of Mithril but there are a lot of mobs inside, so you will get less Mithril if you cannot kill the mobs quickly.
200-275
Learn Mining Craftsman. You will mine [Thorium ore].
Buy Thorium Ore and melt them down to 205, the reason for this is that at 205 (215 with your mining pick), you will be able to mine Enriched Thorium Phylum, not just the small ones. You can melt Thorium up to 275 if you want. Sell the Thorium Bars at auction if you don't need them.
When you hit 275, you can go to Hellfire Peninsula and mine Fel Iron or you can stay in the zones that are set down until you reach 300.
Alternative Map
Silithus
Silithus is also an excellent place to farm Thorium. There are a lot of caves full of insects, do not go into them. If you go to the caves you will have to fight the mobs and you will not be able to ride. You may also get lost in those caves because it is difficult to find your way out.
275-325
Visit your coach and Learn Mining Master. You will mine [Fel Iron Ore]. You can mine Fel Iron up to 350 if you want and skip the Nagrand section.
325-350
You will mine [Adamantite ore]. You will often find Enriched Adamantite Deposits, but unfortunately you won't be able to mine them until you reach 350. The red areas are caves and you should go there because there is a lot of Adamantite inside.
350-400
Visit your coach and Learn Mining Grandmaster.
You will mine [Cobalt Ore]. Howling Fjord is the best place to farm Cobalt, however you can go to Boreal Tundra if you want, there are plenty of Cobalt there too.

Boreal Tundra is also a great place if you don't like Howling Fjord for a reason. There is no difference between the two zones to my knowledge.
400-425
You will mine [Saronite Ore]. Sholazar Basin is simply the best place to farm Saronite, you will find quite a few Enriched Saronite Deposits, but you won't be able to mine them yet.
Sometimes it depends on luck, you will find a lot of Enriched Deposits, you can try Winter Conquest if this happens. If the battle is in progress, you will not be able to use flying mount during that time.
425-475
You will mine [Obsidium Ore]There are many Obsidium in Hyjal than in Vashj'ir, but there are also more players. Hyjal is much better than Vashj'ir if there is no one farming in the area, but the two are very similar. If you go to Vashj'ir, you will also have to do the starting missions until you have the mount underwater.
475-500
You will mine [Elementium ore].
There will be some Pyrite Deposits, but you won't be able to mine them until you reach 525. Enriched Elementium Philo also require 500, please don't bother that you can't mine these yet.

The Phantom Iron Deposits require 500 points, and the Enriched Phantom Iron Deposits require 550. These deposits appear really fast, the points are scattered throughout Pandaria
