Yes you are prepared!

Another area where you frequently stumble upon releasing a large patch (especially one with as many changes as 5.0.4) is with the outdated addons. WoWInterface y Curse They are two popular sites that offer updated addons, so we recommend looking for those that say they support version 5.0.4 or the Mists of Pandaria expansion.

If you've been away from the game or run into UI issues, LUA / XML error messages, or unknown entities, it might be a good idea to delete all your addons and start over from scratch. Don't forget to make use of our list of frequently asked questions to reset your user interface.

Class changes

Of course, the talent system is one of the most important changes of 5.0.4 as it will incorporate a lots of changes, new spells and abilitiesBut before we talk about that, we have made several changes that may impact the way you play your class; They range from small to large, but almost all specs have modified rotations and some have been completely redesigned. After the patch release, be prepared to spend a little time familiarizing yourself with each skill and setting your bars. Here are just a few of the highlights:

Death Knight
Presences have changed. Frost Presence now increases Runic Power generation, and each spec has a passive effect that will cause the spec in question to favor the corresponding Presence for general use. Necrotic Strike, as well as the new Death Siphon talent, cost a rune of death which means you can only use them when one of your runes has been transformed into a rune of death.

Druid
The Feral Combat specialization has been split into two: Feral (for feline focused druids) and Guardian (For bear-focused druids. Each of the four specs has a more distinctive and different tool kit, but now all available spells are useful. For example, Feral and Guardian druids can receive a useful amount of health from Touch of Healing, while Restoration can make better use of the abilities of the Cat and Bear forms.

Hunter
There is no longer a minimum rank for the class. The Ranged Weapon slot has been removed from the game and will now be equipped in their main hand slot. Hunters now benefit from Expertise as their ranged attacks can be dodged. Now you can select any specialization for any type of pet (Ferocity, Tenacity or Cunning).

Wizard: Magicians will receive many changes whose purpose will be to give you more body to its rotations and that these are more interesting. Arcane Mages now have a more complex rotation. Fire mages have tools to control the random nature of their spells. Frost Mages are considerably more powerful at dealing sustained damage and are now viable in PvE. Much of the crowd control and survivability that used to be unique to Frost has been distributed throughout the class or is available as talents for all specs.

Paladin: now paladins have various rank skills, although they remain primarily melee combatants. In addition to making your raid buffs more efficient (more info below), Auras have been removed and the focus of buffs is now on Seals. Paladins can accumulate up to 5 Holy Power charges at any one time, but can only use a maximum of 3 on each Holy Power consumer.

Priest: The total mana of casters is a fixed amount (more information below). Now the Chakras are more similar to the attitudes of warriors. We have made changes to Discipline so that they can support the damage absorption playstyle more. Now the Shadow Priests have Shadow Orbs as a resource, which can be generated by some of his basic spells to deal a large amount of damage or for crowd control.

Rogue: now poisons are spellbook abilities that affect both weapons at the same time. Poisons are divided into two categories, Lethal (Deadly or Wounding Poison) and Non-Lethal (others), and you can have one poison of each type active at the same time. Many of the skills that used to be restricted to a single spec are now talents and are available to all specs; so you can have a Combat rogue with Shadow Step or an Assassination rogue with Cheat Death. The speed of the daggers has been normalized so that the niche of the fast dagger for the left hand no longer exists. Any dagger equipped in either hand should come in handy.

Shaman: totems no longer provide long-term benefits. Some of the old passive effects are innately provided by the shaman. Now, totems have short-term situational benefits. As a result, we have removed the ability to drop multiple totems via the user interface, although all totem spells are now arranged as draggable pop-ups in the spellbook.

Sorcerer: Each warlock specialization has a unique secondary resource that gives you temporary power increases. Affliction Warlocks focus more on launching multiple layered periodic damage effects, amplifying them, and using Soul Shards in their rotation to deal high damage or occasionally utility. Demonology Warlocks now have a new resource called Demon Fury, which takes the place of Soul Fragments, and is generated through the casting of their normal spells. Destruction Warlocks now use Burning Ascusses as a resource, which slowly accumulates through the casting of their normal spells and is consumed at once to deal a massive amount of damage. Warlocks no longer use armor spells, but passively gain armor and bonus health. All demons do a similar amount of damage and are no longer tied to a specific spec. Doom Guard, Inferno, and Soul Stone cooldowns will be reset after dying in front of a raid or dungeon boss.

Guerrero- The wrath design has been changed to function more as a valuable resource. The Warriors will no longer naturally gain rage from taking damageInstead, they will generate it through their primary attacks like Death Strike, Bloodlust, and Shield Slam. Attitudes now share a single bar, instead of changing your bar, and skills will no longer be restricted by attitude. Furthermore, the benefits of attitudes have changed considerably; Raging Stance will allow you to gain rage from taking damage, Battle Stance will allow you to gain additional rage from dealing damage, and Defensive Stance is focused on survivability.

The new talent system

The new talent system redefines the way you create your character in World of Warcraft, while keeping the essential style and feel of each class and spec intact. When you first launch the game after applying the patch and open your talent window with the 'N' key, you will see various changes.

The most obvious change is the redesign of specializations which now displays the core skills for each class spec. These are the distinctive abilities that can only be used by those with that specialization active.

The talents tab will show you the new talent system. A wide range of useful and powerful skills are available regardless of your specialization, but You can only select one talent from each row. A lot of these will be old talents, although sometimes they will have a little change, while others will be entirely new skills. The decision is usually a bit difficult, and you should take the appropriate time for each one. But don't be discouraged, anytime (and anywhere) you can reset a talent with a Written of the clear mind (a tradeable item created by Enrollment) or reset them all in your class trainer.

Sure, given the magnitude of this change, all of your talents will be reset, but you'll be able to explore new skills and talents as you first select them.

Glyphs

Now the glyphs are a little more focused and a little more fun. The Primordial Glyphs will be removed and the Major Glyphs will take most of the potency and utility bonuses that came from the Primordial and Lesser. Instead, the Minor Glyphs will focus more on fun looks and cosmetic customization.

Quality of Life

There are tons of changes in 5.0.4 and you should definitely check out the patch notes on the day of its release - August 28th. However, there are some changes that are worth emphasizing because they will be extremely pleasant:

  • All cooking rewards have been combined into a single coin: Epicurean Prize. In addition to cleaning up your coin list a bit, it also means that the daily quests you do in Stormwind will help you buy your Chef's Hat in Dalaran.
  • Loot area effect! Gather many enemies, destroy them and collect their loot with the click of a button (right); of course, if the space of your bags allows it.
  • The daily quest limit has been deleted. While this will really shine in Mists of Pandaria with much more robust daily missions, you can take advantage of it now.
  • ¡Mounts, pets, and account-level achievements! That's right, it finally arrived and you can enjoy almost all the mounts and pets that you have in any of your characters, and licenses, that are in the same Battle.net account. You can also work on a wide range of achievements for multiple characters.
  • A new help system has been added for many of the user interface items and menus. You may activate and deactivate tips by clicking on the "i" button which is in the upper right corner of any windows that have it.
  • You will automatically learn new spells when you level up. Class Trainers will only be required to change talents, glyphs, specializations, or to use the double specialization feature.
  • The amount of mana has a limit. While not necessarily a quality of life upgrade, this change will impact all classes that use mana and the stats they want. Intellect will continue to increase the power of abilities and Spirit will continue to increase the speed of mana regeneration. The amount you choose for each one will be a little more attractive.

There are many other things in the patch and if you think something specific is worth highlighting, do not hesitate and leave us a comment.

Massively multiplayer

There are some changes to keep in mind that will impact the way you interact and play with other people.

  • New Mists of Pandaria Perk and Buff Skin. This comes out from the classes section above, but the basic premise is that there is now a specific list of benefits and harms available, each of which can be cast by a few classes or specs. When you enter a raid, you know that you should have 8 buffs and if you don't have them, at least there is one person who can cast them.
  • BattleTag support . If you've played Diablo III, you're familiar with BattleTags (and you have one! If not, you should create one now. The BattleTag is your permanent alias for your entire Battle.net account, so choose wisely. BattleTags can do everything that RealID can do, but anonymously. The RealID should be for your friends and family in real life, while the BattleTag can be used for those who do not want them to know your real name.
  • Unified PvE queue. Now you can enter the queue for dungeons, raids and other content at the same time glueable from one place.
  • Inter-kingdom zones. Initially, we will release this feature in some realms with the release of 5.0.4 and increasing the number of realms until they all have it by the launch of Mists of Pandaria. If you are considering leveling up a new character before Mists of Pandaria, this feature will have a significant impact on the world around you.
  • There is also a new shot frame that takes all shots out of the chat window and puts them in their own place.

The battle of Theramore

The first two Scenarios (one for the Horde and one for the Alliance) will arrive with 5.0.4, but they won't be activated until a couple of weeks before launch from Mists of Pandaria. Stay tuned for the main blog page.

And so on

None of this fit anywhere else, but they are important points that you must take into account to understand what awaits us in 5.0.4.

  • Currency conversion. If you missed it, Benzenn posted the specifics of the 5.0.4 currency conversion plan and beyond.
  • PvP Season 11 ends. As normally happens, we will determine who will get the end of season rewards, so you think you are eligible, stay where you are and do not change kingdom. At that time, the Conquest points will be automatically converted to Honor points.
  • Removal of head enchantments. Another thing that we explained a long time ago is that we will decapitate the faction enchantments. The design purpose will be fully understood with the new Mists of Pandaria factions, but change (like many others) will come with this patch.
  • Spell Penetration has been replaced by PvP Power, and the Temple by Temple PvP. Ghostcrawler published an article long ago with the first incarnation of this change and the design purpose is still valid.
  • The slot for rank items, relics and throwables has been removed. All weapons will be equipped in the weapons slot, and ranged weapons, including wands, have been adjusted to be more powerful.

Well that should be enough. These are some of the biggest and most exciting changes, but I'm sure I missed one or two. If you have information or some useful advice so that you and others can get into the game, fix what you need and start killing giant boars (or others) as quickly as possible, leave us a comment.
