Brewmaster Monk 6.2 - PvE Guide

Brewmaster Monk 6.2

Welcome to the PvE Brewmaster Monk's Guide. I am Aquilon from the Grizzly Hills server, and in this guide I'll explain the most important Brewmaster Monks patch 6.2 changes, what's new, and other tips.

Brewmaster Monk

When, centuries ago, the pandaren suffered under the yoke of the mogu, it was the monks who brought hope to what seemed inevitably a bleak future. Due to the prohibition of the use of weapons imposed by their masters, these pandaren chose to focus on harnessing their chi and learning to fight without the contest of weapons. When the opportunity came to unleash a revolution, they were well trained enough to shake off the yoke of oppression.

The Brewmaster Monk is undoubtedly a tenacious troublemaker who uses the strength of the drink and unpredictable movements to dodge damage and protect allies.

Changes in patch 6.2

  • Dark kick now deals 5% less damage.
  • Mockery now has a range of 30 meters (up from 40 meters).
  • Tiger palm now deals 5% less damage.
  • Tiger Strikes it can no longer be triggered by multistrokes. Tiger Strikes now increases multistrike by 35% (was 25%).
  • Sturdy steer style now increases armor by 125% (was 75%) and grants a base Stagger percentage of 20%. Additionally, the Stagger effect no longer works against attacks that ignore armor.
  • Dark kick No longer increases the amount of Stagger.
    • Glide It no longer grants Defer, now it only adds 10% stop.

Talents

This is the general configuration that we will take for the new Hellfire Citadel raid. Always carry Written of the clear mind since it will be necessary to modify the talents depending on the amount of movement of the combat and the nature of the damage (physical or magical).

Brewmaster Monk Talents 6.2

lvl 15

  • Operational: Allows us to use Rodar 3 times and reduces its cooldown.
  • Tiger wish: We run 70% faster for 6 seconds and it removes all rooting and braking.
  • Momentum: When we use Rodar We gain 25% movement speed for 10 seconds, the effect stacks. Passive talent.

Here it is convenient to choose Operational if combat is going to force us to travel great distances in a short time. Momentum it will be more useful in closed areas. Tiger wish it's a good punctual sprint.

lvl 30

  • Wave of chi: Attack that bounces between allies and enemies up to 7 times. Enemies are damaged and allies are healed.
  • Zen sphere: A sphere summoned on an ally or on us that damages nearby enemies and heals the friendly target over time. When its duration expires or health drops below 35%, it detonates, healing all nearby allies. Lasts 16 seconds
  • Chi Burst: Throw a sphere in a frontal line that advances 40 meters in a straight line, healing allies in its path and damaging enemies.

Here without a doubt we will always carry Wave of chi. His healing and damage are quite good and superior to the other 2 talents for our survival.

lvl 45

  • Powerful blows: When using Stir we generate an extra chi once every 15 seconds. If we have complete chi, invoke a sphere of chi on the ground. Passive talent.
  • Ascension: Increases energy regeneration by 15% and increases Chi limit by 1. Passive talent.
  • Chi Brew: You generate 2 Chi points and 5 charges of Elusive Brew. Stacks up to 2 times and has a 1 minute cooldown.

Here we will choose Ascension  o Powerful blows. Both talents give us more ability to generate chi or energy.

lvl 60

  • Peace ring: Creates a ring on us or on an ally that incapacitates the enemies within the ring for 3 seconds and attacks the player.
  • Ox Charge Wave: Summons an ox that moves in a straight line, stunning enemies in its path for 3 seconds.
  • Leg sweep: Stuns all targets around you within 5 meters for 5 seconds.

In this branch we will choose Leg sweep. It is certainly the most powerful to stun enemies en masse.

lvl 75

  • Healing Elixirs: Using a concoction heals us for 15%. When our health is below 35% health, we will also heal 15%. It can only occur once every 18 seconds. Passive talent.
  • Mitigate damage: It gives us a buff of 3 charges that reduces the damage received by 50% if the damage equals 15% or more of our health.
  • Blur magic: Reduces magic damage taken by 90% for 6 seconds.

This choice is the most situational. For encounters where the boss mostly performs magic damage we will use Blur magic. In meetings where we are going to receive large amounts of Physical damage we will use Mitigate damage. In this 6.2 patch we will be using Blur Magic quite a bit for the amount of magic damage there is.

lvl 90

Again the choice of these is situational. In the vast majority of meetings we will use Summon Xuen, the White Tiger for combats against few targets. Rushing Jade Wind We will use it in battles with many adds.

lvl 100

  • Spiritual dance: Allows us to defer magic damage worth 30% of our normal defer. Passive talent.
  • Chi blast: Replaces Dark kick. It consumes 1 to 4 chi, the more chi consumed, the more effects it causes and the more effective it is.
  • Serenity: For 5 seconds all the chi consumed is instantly recovered.

On this occasion the most successful choices are Serenity y Spiritual dance. With the changes made in 6.2 Serenity has lost quite a lot of effectiveness and on the other hand the new encounters of Hellfire Citadel have enough magic damage that added to our mastery is superior, makes Spiritual dance in a very good talent for fights with high magic damage.

Glyphs

The glyphs will also be modified according to the encounter to maximize our chances of survival, I present the basic configuration and those that should be changed. The minor glyphs are purely aesthetic, therefore I will only mention the sublime ones.

The basic configuration will be: Glyph of Fortifying Brew, Zen meditation glyph y Glyph of Eject Damage.

  • Glyph of Fortifying Brew: This glyph will be fixed and mandatory. Increases damage reduction by 5% and health gained by 10% (instead of 20%) Its negative effect is less than its benefit, so we will use it in all encounters.
  • Zen meditation glyph: This glyph will be used most of the time, it allows us to use zen meditation in motion although it continues to cancel when receiving a melee hit.
  • Glyph of Eject Damage: Glyph that we will also use normally so that our expel damage consumes less energy in critical moments.
  • Glyph of Fire Breath: Useful for encounters where it is necessary to take a lot of damage from adds and these are disorienting, very useful for cleaning pulls when we have little equipment.
  • Fast Roll Glyph: This glyph will be an extra help us in encounters that we have to reocrre long distances. Its usefulness is greater with talent Operational.
  • Glyph of Barrel Strike: It will be useful in encounters with adds to increase the range of the barrel attack.

Statistics

The optimal stats for the Brewmaster Monk this patch are:

Armor Bonus> Mastery> Critical> Haste> Versatility> = Multistrike

  • El armor bonus will grant us a direct reduction of physical damage received and we damage done will increase.
  • La master's degree increases the effectiveness of our Postpone in addition to increasing the damage we do.
  • La agility increases our attack power, it will be present in all leather pieces.
  • El endurance increases our maximum health and is present in all parts.
  • La versatility Increases damage done, healing done, and reduces damage taken.
  • El Multistrike causes abilities to have a 30% chance to hit a second and third time.
  • El Critical It gives a chance that a healing or attack is twice as efficient and our basic critical hits will grant us charges of elusive concoction.
  • La haste reduces overall skill use time and increases energy regeneration.

Enchantments and gems

Based on the previous statistics, we will use enchantments and gems with mastery to optimize it as much as possible.

Flask, food and potion

Remember that the use of Healing tonic does not share cooldown with Draenic Armor Potion.

Rotation and priorities

We are going to divide the rotation into two situations, against one target and against several:

An objective

Against a target we will follow the following order of priorities:

  1. Barrel Slam whenever available.
  2. Tiger palm every 20 seconds to renew the benefit Tiger power.
  3. Stir to gain chi.
  4. Expel damage instead of Stir if we need to restore health. If we have a Guard, it will heal us much more.
  5. Dark kick to spend chi and accumulate To slide.
  6. Fire breath if we have excess chi and we do not need to use Guard or accumulate To slide.

Apart from these priorities to maintain a basic agriculture and the benefits To slide y Tiger power it will be necessary to use 1 point of chi to dispel the Postpone moderate (yellow) and severe (red). We will use Guard to mitigate medium-high damage and try to have Elusive Brew The most time possible. Elusive Brew It is our active mitigation and it will be necessary to give critical white hits to gain charges, therefore it is important that in the blank times of our tank (when it is recovering energy) we allow it to hit blank and not abuse Tiger palm.

Multiple goals

Against multiple targets (3 or more) we will follow the following priority:

  1. Barrel Slam whenever available.
  2. Tiger palm every 20 seconds to renew the benefit Tiger power.
  3. Spinning Crane Kickrushing jade wind to gain chi.
  4. Expel damage instead of Spinning Crane Kickrushing jade wind if we need to restore health. If we have a Guard it will heal us much more.
  5. Dark kick to spend chi and accumulate To slide.
  6. Fire breath if we have excess chi and we do not need to use Guard nor accumulate To slide. It will be an extra help to maintain agriculture in multiple objectives.

In addition to the basic priorities, we must take into account the same as when it comes to an objective. Keep To slide y Tiger power, clean up the Postpone, use Guard and other mitigation CDs and maintain Elusive Brew as long as possible. You also have the Black Ox statue to catch and hold adds reducing the risk of them escaping and attacking our allies. Also if we use Mockery on the statue will taunt all enemies within 30 meters of the statue.

Mitigation CDs

In addition to the basic priorities we have important mitigation CDs that will require their use to survive:

  • Tonic Brew: Our biggest overall mitigation CD. It has a 3 minute cooldown so we will use it in critical moments and high damage.
  • Elusive Brew: It is our active mitigation. We will try to keep it active as long as possible. In certain bosses it will be necessary to use it at very specific times due to special dynamics. I will go into detail in the tips section for Hellfire Citadel.
  • Expel damage: It is not a mitigation CD, but it will heal and save us many times over. It should be used to quickly restore health and gain chi. During a Guard it will heal us 30% more. Below 35% health it has no cooldown and we can use it until we run out of energy.
  • Guard: This Mitigation CD is very powerful, with 2 charges and a 30 second cooldown. Its absorption benefits from Resolve and can absorb large amounts of damage. With little equipment it is usually used whenever it is available. With more equipment and advanced content, it is a great CD to mitigate medium / high damage and to avoid lowering our health while we heal or heal ourselves.
  • Mitigate damage/Blur magic: Both talents of level 75. We will use Mitigate damage to avoid very high physical damage (it will reduce it by 50% up to 3 hits). For magic damage our star choice will be Blur Magic which will mitigate no more and no less than 90% of all magic damage received for 6 seconds. Both CDs have a 1,5 minute cooldown.
  • Zen meditation: A very powerful CD but with a great disadvantage. It mitigates 90% of all damage received and we can move during its channeling with the Zen meditation glyph. Its great disadvantage is that it is canceled when receiving direct melee damage, that is, a melee hit from an enemy. It's still very useful if you don't have aggro at the moment or if the boss casts something very damaging or you enter a massive damage phase. It can even be useful to avoid a very powerful melee strike.
  • Purifying Brew: It is not a CD really, but a necessary use skill to clean the Defer avoiding us a lot of damage since it makes the accumulated damage disappear. It will be used whenever the APlazar reaches moderate or severe (yellow or red). With the Elixirs of Healing talent, he can be a great source of self-healing in dungeons. This combination is highly recommended in challenge dungeons.

BiS team

Head Hurricane Eye Mask
shoulders Mantle of the Hurricane's Eye
Neck Contained Fel Orb Locket
Back Withered Cloak of the Void Lord
Chest Robe of the Eye of the Hurricane
Dolls Bloodbound Wristguards
Hands Hurricane Eye Cuffs
Waist Banishment Adjuster

Feet Treated Toxicologist Boots
Ring 1 Calcified Eye of Mannoroth
Ring 2 Sanctus, Sigil of the Indomitable
Trinket 1 Cursed Anzu Feather
Trinket 2 Stealth of Imbued Stone
Arma Virulence of the Bleeding Hollow

In this patch 6.2 our tier does not give us the most optimal statistics but its tier bonus is very powerful. We have decided to break for pants since Rivet Trim Leggings They are the best option in terms of mastery.

Tips

Here are a few tips for bosses in Hellfire Citadel in normal and heroic modes:

  • In Hellfire Assault we will use Impetuous Jade Wind for the large number of adds and Mitigate Damage to the great harm of the Rabid. The Black Ox statue it will help us to better maintain agriculture. The Glyph of Barrel Strike to add more security.
  • In Reaver of the Iron Horde we will use the talent Blur magic to better resist Artillery. The talent Operational It will be good for us to roll more times and travel long distances for Artillery. It will also help us Glyph of Fast Roll.
  • For Kormrok it will come in handy Mitigate damage to reduce the boss's melee hits and physical abilities.
  • In High Council we will use Blur magic y Spiritual dance to tank Deah or Mitigate Damage for Gurtogg and Jubei'thos. Loads of Elusive Brew they will help us avoid the marks that Gurtogg makes.
  • For Kilrogg it will be very important to use Elusive Brew to prevent Kilrogg from applying to us Shred armor. If you don't generate enough charges, use the talent Chi Brew.
  • In Sanguino he places the Black Ox statue in the center of the room so when the angry spirit comes out it will charge against the statue preventing it from damaging another player.
  • If we tank his spirit in Socrethar, place the statue near the red portal to prevent the Dominator from damaging any melee when he leaves. During phase 1 use Guard y Mitigate Damage to reduce brand damage. You can use Zen meditation to receive marks by yourself avoiding work for the band.
  • For Ishkar, place the statue in the center of the room so that the adds that come out go to the same point.
  • In Zakuun it is highly recommended to use Mitigate damage in the phases of Disarmed y Very Armed since the physical damage will be very high. Try to chain the mitigation CDs together and use the maximum possible loads of Elusive Brew.
  • In Tirana we will receive a lot of damage, especially in phase 2. Use Guard to have an extra cushion of survival when Tirana's damage greatly reduces our health.
  • For Xul'horac bring the talents Blur magic to reduce the damage of Vile and Shadow Strikes directed at the tank and also carries the talent Spiritual Dance to further reduce the damage. Approaching arsonists is dangerous if you are going to receive Shadow damage from the boss therefore use the talent Wave of the Ox's Charge to stun them from a distance. If you tank the boss taking fel damage you can stun them to melee using Leg sweep.
  • In Mannoroth accumulate charges of Elusive Brew for Guja Combo this way we will avoid the damage being applied to us Guja's Lunge. Try to also have a Guard always available or a mitigation CD for that moment to avoid the damage of Massive Blast. In the last phase, place a copy of Transcendence as an emergency in case it is going to push you off the platform.
  • In Archimonde you will receive a lot of magic damage therefore have it ready Blur magic to reduce the damage caused by the add summoned by Archimonde. Spiritual dance it will also help to reduce magic damage.

Macros

Macros help us automate and shorten actions. The brewmaster monk has a lot of skills and many actions, creating macros will make the task easier.

  • Taunt en masse: This macro allows us to launch Taunt on our statue of the black ox without having to select it and without losing the current objective.

/ target Black Ox Statue

/ cast Taunt

/ targetlasttarget

  • Wave of Chi: This macro will make our Wave of Chi always heal us first.

#showtooltip

/ cast [@player] wave of chi

addons

For both the Brewmaster Monk and the rest of the tanks, the addons are great allies to facilitate the task. These are the most common for tanking in general:

  • Deadly Boss Mods (DBM): Must-have addon for raid and dungeon. It shows how long it will take for the enemy to use their abilities and also displays visual and audible warnings and warnings
  • Omen: Threat meter. The blizzard interface already offers a threat percentage on the target, but this addon will show us the most accurate and extended information.
  • Elvui: Set of add-ons in a batch that will totally change your interface. At first it becomes difficult to see an interface so different from that of blizzard but with time you get used to it. It is fully customizable. It can be downloaded from here.
  • WeakAuras 2: An incredible addon. It is used to create any type of visual and / or auditory element. You can create custom alerts, icons showing buffs / debuffs, cast bars, channeling, reload times, and much more. Created auras can be shared.
  • MikScrollingBattleText: Changes the way floating text is viewed, can be customized.
  • Launch Raid Tools: Very complete addon with a multitude of functions that will help us a lot. I highlight its function of indicating the direct mitigation CDs of the entire band, making it easier for us to order CDs and control what is available at all times.
  • BestInSlot: Addon that allows us to create configurations of the BiS equipment to better manage ourselves in band. Very useful its Summary function that reminds us which BiS equipment each boss gives us.

All these addons (except Elvui) and many more are available at http://www.curse.com/addons/wow

Personal opinion

The Brewmaster Monk is very flexible. With his talents, glyphs, and abilities, he can adapt to any encounter quite efficiently. It has pretty good self-healing and good mitigation.

With the changes to To slide now it is less drastic not to maintain 100% of the combat To slide which has improved our survival.

Personally, ever since the Brewmaster Monk was invented in MoP and I tried it, I haven't quit. I recommend it to everyone who wants to tank and if you are looking for a fun class and at the same time very useful, you will not be disappointed.

Thank you very much for reading my guide. And if you need more help you can find me in Colinas Pardas, my character is Aquilón and I will be happy to answer your questions and talk about the monks. All the best.

hello, what professions will suit you best?

    1.    Louis Cervera said

There are currently no benefits by profession. You can wear Skinning and Leatherworking to be able to make equipment, or any other profession such as Alchemy, Enchanting or Jewelry to supply you.
      A greeting.

        Many Thanks
What you tell me is that there are no passive or unique profession enchantments. I recently started the original.
If so, I will go for alchemy that I never had, I hope it gives me a profit because I am alone.
