Blizzard confirms that it will not be able to fly on Argus

Aloha! After entering into a debate in a player thread against this ban, Blizzard confirms that it will never be possible to fly in Argus but ... Will it be like that or will we meet another Draenor again?

Blizzard confirms that it will not be able to fly on Argus

A busy week, and not just because of all the news that Argus has brought. It seems that one of the Argus restrictions, flying, is not liking the community at all. Blizzard has been very clear about flying in the new zones.

The main reasons Blizzard gave us for this ban are:

  • The new zones added in the patch content have never allowed flying (except for Tanaan, but the zone was only a part of the original supernatural world of Draenor, it was not added in a patch)
  • Argus is not supposed to be a welcoming and hospitable place. If you're having trouble getting around Argus, you're probably not paying attention to the scenery.
  • There are no plans to allow the flight on Argus.
  • Flying is not the main feature of the game and the community sees it as a convenience.
  • The island of Quel'Danas did not have good terrain to move, especially for the daily with the naga (in the eastern area), so they did not allow flying.

Well, a lot of threads have been opened by players who are not happy with this restriction and ask Blizzard to reconsider, remove said restriction and allow Argus to fly. This particular thread Not being able to fly the Argus made me lose all interest, has been one of the most visited threads by the community and by the Blizzard technical team.

Blizzard confirms that it will not be able to fly on Argus

The area is very monotonous and we really feel like another Broken Shore 2.0… same atmosphere and landscape but with too much density of people.

We spent months to get Road Opener so that they would withdraw the possibility of flying again.

This is going too far Blizzard, especially with the terrible layout of the terrain on Argus. I hope Blizzard will rethink their "no fly" debacle one more time before they lose another subscription boost in order to get your attention.

Days later CM Ornyx comments on this thread:

Blizzard confirms that it will not be able to fly on Argus

I think a lot of people disagree with you on the first point and Argus has been one of the best parts of the Legion for me personally but to clarify the second point:

This is nothing new and we have no plans to change this going forward.. The new zones added in the patch content have never been aware of my allowed flight. Even when the flight was introduced in 2.0 it was not available on the Isle of Quel'danas when it was launched in 2.4. The same happens with Isle of Thunder and Timeless Isle from 5.2 and 5.4. These areas are to be explored, with a little danger, and Argus fits that theme very well.

I can understand that you have recently won Pathfinder so you can fly, but no one is forbidding you to fly anywhere you want in the Broken Isles, but this is Argus.

If you're having trouble getting around Argus, you're probably not paying attention to the scenery. If you are dying in the fel rivers, you are probably walking blind instead of jumping on the floating rocks. If you are constantly being targeted by creatures, you probably don't realize the paths to get around so many groups of creatures.

Argus isn't supposed to be a friendly and hospitable place, and I wouldn't bet my gold on a demon sitting down to tea with me. If you're having trouble and finding it difficult to move around and avoid traps, then Argus is working as intended.

Despite Ornyx's pronouncement, many people do not agree with his point of view and see the idea that flying is not part of the game unthinkable. Among them is the MVP Crepe:

Well maybe it's time for the development team to recognize that flight is actually part of the game and develop content with the idea that we can fly instead of taking the mentality of 'we don't like flight, so we go. to restrict even after making people jump through hoops and retain them for almost a year without it.

The genie is out of the bottle. The development team needs to open their minds to that idea rather than constantly looking for ways to reject it.

I remember WOTLK and the idea that we could fly very soon. And we fly. And we had fun. It was good, really.

Why exactly do the developers feel that only by restricting the flight can they give us new things?

We can say typical phrases like "the genie is out of the bottle" all day, but they get us nowhere. I think it has been well recognized that we are still open to the idea of flight or would we have no flight in any content at all? , not? We have reached an intermediate point with the community and this is how Abrecaminos has been. You have to earn "your wings": show that you have managed to complete the content in general and you will be able to fly.

There really isn't a closed-minded attitude on this issue in the development team, we've had a lot of positive discussions about the direction of flight in general. I do think, however, that there are people in the community who are "narrow-minded" to get an idea of "maybe I shouldn't be able to fly around and skip all the content when new areas are unlocked."

I think these conversations should be a two-way street, and the more people in the community are calling the closed-minded development team or pointing the finger, the further we move away from friendly understanding within the community. Of course, I've always been happy to have those conversations, but each time they start very quickly they dive into arguing rather than arguing about the merits of each approach and that it's really not something I want to be apart of.

Nor do I think asking straight, rhetorical questions will get us anywhere.

And what do you think? Will Blizzard continue with the flight restriction on Argus forever or will it pass as on Draenor, restriction for a few months until the opening of Pathfinder?

If blizzard the next expansion is based on the fact that it can be fought on mounts and a large part of the new maps are for said mechanics? Will they complain that it is not possible to walk on foot? , I think the anger of not being able to fly in argus is not related to the time it took to get the flight, but rather to what the blue said that basically they complain about being dying or being attacked for going on the rambo before a horde of minions ; thing that flying goes directly to the mission, does it and flies again to another point.
In short, they prefer to get equipment fast and do not give much importance to the area (the vast majority)

It seems good to me that you cannot fly in argus. As they say, in the added areas apart, normally it has not been possible to fly (and it still is) and it is fine. What happens is that in this game every day farming is given more value than playing games, and then people go quickly to the places, do their missions, and go somewhere else. Like I see good not to fly from the beginning. The trips through pandaria, draenor, the islands… I have enjoyed it, the landscapes, learning where everything is. And of course there are times when I wanted to fly to get fast materials or artifact power, but that is also Blizzard's fault because sometimes it makes the game a bit repetitive and then that desire arises.
