Aloha! Hunters are in luck! After a relentless campaign for the Beast Hunters artifact weapon mascot, Blizzard will be bringing Hati back soon.

Hunters are in luck! Blizzard will bring back Hati

Update 9/1/2019: Hati's return is confirmed in Patch 8.1.5 after appearing in the patch notes in a chain of special missions.

Hunters are in luck! Hati, the mascot tied to the Beast Hunters artifact weapon, will return.

After a relentless campaign to avoid the bitter goodbye that would result from deactivating the weapon, it seemed that things would run their course as Blizzard was unresponsive. But that is already past water.

Ion Hazzikostas in the last Q&A confirmed that the Hati issue was being considered but that nothing is planned yet although he understands the connection that was shown between many hunters and Hati. Well, who gave the chest do was Steve Danuser, Senior Narrative Designer. Danuser seeing a very very illustration of a Void Elf saying goodbye to Hati:

As I look at this lovely and heartbreaking image, my puppy is curled up under my desk looking at me.

Right. in. The. Feels.

Don't worry, you'll see Hati again. Just give me a little time.

From what we can see Blizzard intends to return our beloved Hati to the hands of his fellow adventurers from which he should never have left. Welcome back home, Hati!

So the Save Hati campaign has been a huge success. You can take a look at the comments and ideas that were given in the forum for the preservation of Hati, the so-called "Save Hati" movement.

Here's the thread to follow developer Johnny Cash's suggestion: Twitter

Save Hati: The campaign to conserve the Hati pet

In summary:

  • We know that our artifacts are marked for destruction or dismantling at the end of Legion.
  • This will likely mean the destruction of Hati, the wolf that is linked to the Titanic Fury.
  • Many of us are very saddened by this prospect. The mission to save the life of Hati was the most unique and best told artifact mission that I experienced, the loss of Hati would mean that it was all in vain and that the culmination of the story would be very dark.

I acknowledge that Hati can be quite infuriating as a second pet, due to issues with the followers and followers in Legion, but that's not the pet's fault and doesn't mean we weren't very attached to his story.

I'm definitely not asking you to stay as our second pet (if we have one) after Legion. I have a feeling that most hunters would like to see some new system for that. I'm just asking you to think of some mechanism in history by which it can survive the destruction of Titanic Fury.

This could be as simple as adding it to the quest chain, for example Mimiron and Thorim appear at the last minute with something new to house their life force, which is released at the time of the dismantling of Titanic Fury and they take it back to house, being the last thing we see. If you don't have time for that, even a post-event email from Thorim saying "guess who just showed up at home, looks like the energy released from your weapon was enough to finally restore it" would be better than nothing.

Or, after saving him, you could take up residence in our classroom in perpetuity.

Or, it could be added to our stables as a spirit beast pet for hunters who completed the Legion story. Maybe alternate colors could appear rarely (unless someone wants to go to the trouble of adding a mechanism to change their color in our stables, but I admit it seems like a lot of work). This is my favorite option, but it would have to be accompanied by an increase in stall holes - many Hunters already have it full!

Or maybe someone has a better idea.
