Last January, Ian (aka ianxplosion on Twitch) made a bet. In a post on the WoW Reddit he commented that if Blizzard released patch 7.3.5 on January 16, it would create a character and raise it to level 60 simply by killing wild boar. And said and done, the patch was released that same day and Ian naturally set off to begin his challenge.

But where does this "curious" way of leveling come from? The idea is a nod to the South Park series, specifically the episode "Make love, not Warcraft", where the protagonists are continually killed by a high-level camper (a player who is dedicated to killing other very low-level players in a specific area) and they have to hide in the Elwynn Forest killing wild boars in order to climb level and be able to face it. And as a curiosity: to get to level 60 they needed to kill 65.340.285 wild boars.

Initially, Ian planned to kill wild boar in Elwynn Forest exclusively, the starting zone for humans featured in South Park, but it was not possible. With 7.3.5, level scaling applies to all old zones, making monsters and quests automatically adapt to your level within a certain range. The problem is, Elwynn Forest only climbs to level 10, so Ian had to venture into a higher level zone to kill thousands of boars from level 10 to level 60.

And he finally got it! After hours and hours Ian manages to reach level 60 and overcome his challenge. In total, he had to eliminate no more and no less than 19.801 wild boars.

Here we have the final video of the last wild boar, reaching level 60 and beating the challenge.

You can see all its progression in videos from level 1 to 60 on his Twitch profile.
