You've probably read out there that there is a new Legendary Mace that will appear with Patch 3.1. Like Atiesh In Naxxramas, you will need to get multiple Fragments of Val'anyr to start a quest chain and rebuild the mace. These shards are unique in the trial realms (30) while the spells say you need 40 shards to combine the Shattered Shards of Val'anyr so we think you need either 40 or 30. The shards should fall when killing the bosses in Ulduar.
When you get all the fragments you can start the following mission:
Ancient history
The pieces fit together to form an elegant hammer. Its construction appears to be Titanic in nature. The console inside the Archivum might have some information on this artifact.
- Bring the Shattered Fragments of Val'anyr to the Archivum console in the Archivum in Ulduar.
El Archivum It is the small room behind the Iron Assembly (where the Iron Council is). After following a small event you will have to kill ... the old god Yogg Saron at their prison!
Val'anyr, Hammer of the Old Kings
The Archivum console gives you some clues about a possible way to rejoin the Val'anyr fragments: you must put the fragments within the physical form of the well-known Yogg-Saron. It seems somewhat difficult, but for an artifact of such power, the risks are surely worth it.
- Throw the Shattered Pieces of Val'anyr into Yogg-Saron's exposed brain and defeat him to retrieve the Forged Hammer of Ancient Kings.
