Welcome to the Legion class preview. In these articles we will post the changes that will be applied to classes in the next expansion. We start with the Paladin in Legion.

For the next expansion, Legion, it is intended to further differentiate the current specializations that the 11 classes in the game have. For this reason, talents and abilities will be modified in order to increase variety and originality.

Paladin in Legion

The Paladin can fulfill the 3 roles available in WoW. Although the 3 roles are very different, Paladin's specializations have many similarities. The paladin is an important figure in WoW history, and while he can protect, heal, or deal damage in combat, he appears to have a rear-guard positioning during battle. The paladin in Legion promises to be different in this respect, taking the front to fulfill his role First line.

Protection

The Paladin in Legion in its Protection specialization will undergo a rather striking change. Se removes the Sacred Power resource, since according to the developers this dynamic was very simple and of very limited use to few skills.

Another significant change is the Fusion of Strike of the Crusader and Hammer of the Righteous. Now it will only be an ability that will hit 1 target in its normal state or hit in area and we are on an area with Consecration.

Lastly, Word of Glory ability has been changed to Light of the Protector, an ability that they say is more focused on our own character and that is more in line with the role of a tank.

Let's go into detail with the skill change:

  • Redoubt -> Passive.
    • On critical hits with auto attacks, you gain a charge of Light of the Protector or Shield of the Righteous.
  • Protector light -> You summon the Light to recover 50% of the lost health.
    • Snapshot. 15 second cooldown.
  • Shield of the Righteous -> Hit an enemy dealing high damage and reducing damage taken by 25% for 4,5 seconds
    • Melee range. Snapshot. 12 second reload. 3 charges.
  • Avenger's Shield -> Deals high Holy damage to the target, interrupts them and silences them for 3 seconds. Jump to 2 additional targets. In addition, the effects of the next Shield of the Righteous or Light of the Protector are increased by 20%.
    • 30 meter range. Snapshot. 15 second cooldown.
  • Hammer of the Righteous -> Deals moderate physical damage to 1 target. If used on Consecration, it deals Holy damage to all targets within 8 yards.
    • Melee range. Snapshot. 3 second reload. 2 charges.
  • Great crusader -> Passive.
    • You have a 15% chance to reset the cooldown of Avenger's Shield when using Hammer of the Righteous or avoiding a melee attack.
  • Judgment -> Deals high Holy-type damage to a target.
    • 30 meter range. Snapshot. 6 second cooldown.
  • Consecration -> Create a holy area under the paladin, dealing high holy damage over 9 seconds to all enemies in that area.
    • Snapshot. 9 second cooldown.
  • Mastery: Divine Bulwark
    • Increases the damage reduction of Shield of the Righteous by 10% and the chance to block melee attacks by 20% (with Mastery granted by a medium-level team).
    • Attack power increased by 20% (with Mastery granted by a medium-level team).

In addition to changes in abilities, talents will also be modified. This is an example of a Paladin-specific talent in the exclusive Legion of Protection.

  • Blessed hammer -> Throws a divine hammer that springs up, spinning, from the paladin, dealing a moderate amount of holy damage to enemies it passes through. Replaces Hammer of the Righteous.
    • Instant. 3 second recharge. 2 charges.

Sagrado

The Paladin's strength in Legion for the Holy specialization will still be healing a target with the Beacon of Light combo. But other abilities will be modified to achieve what we mentioned at the beginning, that the paladin in legion have to be in the front line.     • 4,0% mana. Range of 40 meters. 1,5 second cast time.
  • Light of the martyr -> You sacrifice part of your health to instantly heal a moderate amount of health to 1 ally.
    • 2,5% mana. Range of 40 meters. Snapshot.
  • Morning light -> Frontal Cone Heal that heals up to 5 allies for a moderate amount of health within 15 yards.
    • 4,0% mana. 1,5 second cast time. 12 second cooldown.
  • Sacred Shock -> Instant and moderate heal on an ally. If used against an enemy, it deals moderate damage. Twice as likely to be critical.
    • 1,5% mana. Range of 40 meters. 10 second cooldown.
  • Infusion of light -> Passive
    • Holy Shock critical strikes reduce the cast time of the next Holy Light by 1,5 seconds or increase the healing of the next Flash of Light by 50%.
  • Sign of the Light -> You place a light signal on an ally. All heals cast on other allies also heal the target with Beacon of Light for 50% of the original heal. Using Flash of Light and Holy Light on a target with Beacon of Light recovers 40% of the mana cost of these heals.
    • 0,5% mana. Range of 60 meters. Snapshot. 3 second cooldown.
  • Mastery: Enlightened
    • Proximity to the target causes spells to heal up to 30% more (with mastery granted by a medium-level team).

Specific talents for Holy Paladin will also be added. This is an example:

  • Sign of the Enlightened -> Passive.
    • Maximum Mastery Bonus: Enlightened is increased by 24% and now increases heals based on proximity to the paladin's target or to its Signal of Light, whichever is closest.

Rebuke

The current Retribution Paladin has many spells that can be cast from a distance, giving the impression of being a melee caster rather than a crusader. For this, the ability Blade of Justice and new talents that reinforce this style. Also, the Paladin in legion only will have sacred power in this specialization, Retribution.

  • Templar verdict -> Deals massive Holy-type damage.
    • 3 of Holy Power. Melee range. Snapshot.
  • Divine storm -> Deal high Holy damage to all enemies within 8 meters.
    • 3 of Holy Power. Snapshot.
  • Conviction -> Passive.
    • Crusader Strike and Blade of Justice have a 20% increased chance to generate an additional point of Holy Power.
  • Mastery: Hand of Light
    • Crusader Strike, Blade of Justice, Divine Storm, and Templar's Verdict deal 45% bonus Holy damage (with Mastery from a mid-tier team).

Several new talents will also be added. The following is one of them:

  • Lothar's Power -> you throw a light blade to the location you assign. Reactivating this ability teleports you to the blade's location, dealing moderate Holy damage to all nearby enemies.
    • 30 m range. Snapshot. 30 second cooldown.
    • Replaces Hand of impediment.
