Assault on the Ruby Sanctum

For centuries, the Red Dragonflight and its noble matriarch, Alexstrasza the Protector, have dedicated themselves to protecting life on Azeroth. But now a threat hangs over the heart of this virtuous Flight.

A strange silence has settled over The Ruby Sanctum, the sacred lair of the Red Flight within the Chamber of Aspects. This disturbing development raises fears that The Sanctum, home to the largest clutch of red dragon eggs in all of Azeroth, has been raped by an unknown and sinister force. If this proves true and immediate and drastic measures are not taken, the benevolent Red Flight may be mutilated forever.

Real ID: A new way to connect with your friends on Battle.net

One of our goals for the new Battle.net is to create the framework for an online gaming experience that is even more accessible, engaging and entertaining than the previous Battle.net. The new Real ID feature, available to all World of Warcraft players as part of Patch 3.3.5, is an integral part of that effort and provides a number of advanced possibilities to establish and maintain meaningful relationships with your friends when online.

Real ID is a completely voluntary and optional new level of identity that keeps players connected throughout Battle.net. When you and a friend agree to become Real ID friends, you will have the opportunity to access a number of additional features that will enrich your social gaming experience in an exciting new way. click here for more information.

General

  • The Ruby Sanctum, a new 10- and 25-player raid instance featuring Normal and Heroic difficulties, is now available! Players will find the entrance to the dungeon under the Temple of the Dragon's Rest in the Dragonblight. Please note that due to the fact that this patch is being applied in all regions, this dungeon will not be immediately available in North America. Stay tuned for the official announcement of the opening of the Rubí Tabernacle in our our general forum.
  • The functionality of the Banish option in Dungeon Finder will now act differently based on the player's history in the system. Players using the Dungeon Finder who rarely vote to kick players out of a group or rarely leave groups before completing a dungeon will find that the Kick option will have no cooldown. For players who frequently leave groups or vote to kick other players, the Kick option will maintain its cooldown. This feature will adapt to changes in the player's behavior as they use the Dungeon Finder.

User interface

  • Chat box
    • Players can now right-click on any chat type (Whisper, Trade, General, Group, Gang, etc.) and choose to move chat types to separate windows. This will move the chat type to a separate tab within the chat box that can be unpinned and moved anywhere on the screen.
      • Using the Move to Whisper Window option over a whisper will move the conversation with that player to a separate tab.
      • Every time a conversation with another player is moved to its own tab, the tab will glow when a new message is received.
    • By hovering the mouse over the chat box and using the mouse wheel, players will be able to scroll through the chat text.
    • Players can select Classic Mode in Interface Options to keep the chat box functionality more similar to how it was prior to patch 3.3.5.
    • The Simple Chat option has been removed from the user interface.
  • Friend's list
    • A new icon has been added to the top left of the chat box that will open the friends list.
    • In addition to its current functionality, the Friends List will now allow players to add Battle.net (Real ID) accounts. Players will need to confirm that they are friends in order for a real ID to be added. Once they are friends with real ID, players will be able to communicate between different games, factions, and kingdoms.
    • The Pending tab has been added, where players can accept or decline a friend request with real ID, select the Notify spam or Block communication buttons.
    • Players will now be able to select between three statuses that will be visible to their friends: Available, Away, and Busy.
    • A message window has been added to the top of the box. Players will be able to use it to post a message to all their Real ID friends who are online. This message will also be displayed under the real ID information of the player who publishes it, in the list of each of his friends.
  • If you want to know more about the changes in Lua and XML, visit the Interface Customization forum.
