There have been many battles against the Scourge in Northrend. Countless lives have been lost since the Alliance and Horde first arrived in the frozen wastelands, yet the champions of Azeroth continue to advance. Their ultimate goal is Icecrown Citadel, the seat of Scourge power and the Lich King's headquarters. Tirion Fordragon and the Argent Crusade have teamed up with Darion Mograine and the Knights of the Ebon Blade to form the Verdict of Ash. The most powerful combatants in this coalition, along with the champions of the Alliance and the Horde, will lead the assault on the citadel.
This dungeon shows the battles and events that will conclude the story of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Join legendary heroes like Highlord Tirion Fordragon, High Overlord Saurfang, Muradin Bronzebeard, Highlord Darion Mograine, and King Varian Wrynn in an epic battle against the Scourge and their lord. The Icecrown Citadel Raid Dungeon has 10- and 25-player versions, each consisting of 12 encounters. You can perform each of these in normal or heroic mode and players will have access to a new interface feature to change the difficulty without complications. The raid dungeon rewards item level starts at 251 in the 10-player version (normal mode), increases to 264 in the 10-player version (heroic mode) and 25 players (normal mode) and finally reaches the level 277 in the 25 player version (heroic mode).
Triumphal entrance to the citadel
After penetrating the fortress defenses, players will face a legion of undead guards who have orders to take down any invaders. The leader of the defenders is Lord Marrowgar, a monstrosity built from the bones of the undead. The next adversary will be Sister Death Whisper, the Supreme Ruler of the Cult of the Damned. She strengthens the faith of her followers by promising them the opportunity to serve eternally in undeath. As they continue their rise, the heroes of the Alliance and the Horde wind up outside the citadel, where their mutual hatred erupts into a fight for control of the Wall of Skulls. Players will fight alongside High Overlord Saurfang aboard the Hammer of Orgrim, or Muradin Bronzebeard aboard the Skybreaker in a unique encounter. Each faction must protect their airship and attempt to destroy the other in a brutal battle to clarify who will have the right to face the Lich King. Finally, in order for the heroes to gain access to the upper levels of the citadel, they must defeat the most powerful death knight of the Lich King.
The wings of Icecrown Citadel
Once the heroes of the Alliance or Horde defeat the opposing faction and destroy the creatures near the entrance, players will venture into an area consisting of three separate wings. Here they must defeat various horrors in order to face the Lich King.
In the Frostwing halls, players will battle alongside the Ash Verdict to enter the lair of Sindragosa, the deadly ice dragon, who continues to strengthen her bloodline with the help of the Vrykul of Ymirheim. Along the way, the heroes meet Valithiria Dreamwalker, a green dragon prisoner that the Scourge is using to conduct various experiments ...
Plague Central contains the most devious experiments the Scourge has produced. In this place, players will face Festergut and Rotface, two new abominations that protect their evil creator: Professor Putricida.
In the Crimson Halls are the leaders of the San'layn, undead blood elves who oversee Scourge operations throughout Azeroth. The Lich King turned the blood princes Valanar, Keleseth, and Taldaram into undead to take revenge and protect Queen Lana'thel.
