Main failures in the Roleo

Greetings again, woweros! This time I guess I don't have to introduce myself. I am the same and charming elf from the other time, only a little more malnourished from spending a few weeks in jail for "not knowing" problems of public scandal and possession of psychotropic substances.

But I'm clean now, I swear!

Yes, yes ... very sure. And Elvis is still alive in the Bahamas too.

Anyway, after a few weeks of rest ...

Now they call the psychiatric hospital that way ... do you know??

... and several other things, I am also back to continue talking about roleplaying*, or as others like to call, Interpretation. And is that, if you have listened to me and have tried at least that of role-playing, I will have to give you the "fight" because surely you have had some basic failures with it.

wow-role-characters

So, let's get to it.

*Yes, about roleplaying, not about dungeon advancement, server status, if there is a lot or a little raiding or if the potato omelette was invented by Gandhi on a holiday.

Where did I go wrong, how, or why?

Even if it's a minor detail, it probably already says a lot about a person's propensity to role-play.

What do I mean? To the name of the character you have chosen, let's be consistent with that. Would you name your son "Conguitomix", "Pablodk", or "Vampimonia"? Surely (and I hope) not. Nor is it useful to try to "impersonate" or copy the name of a character that is already in the game itself or that from another saga: "Arthasxx" "Sylvanäas" and a long etcetera. And now a personal message for those many elves. Seriously, just because you have a hunter kal'dorei doesn't mean you MUST call it Legolas or derivatives. Those names may be "fine" on another server, but I assure you, not too much for role-playing.

It costs nothing to be a little original, try to put a few syllables together and you will have something striking that can serve as a name.

Although there is another problem with it. Those people who came to the server for various reasons that had nothing to do with the role, and put a name that seemed funny to them; But months went by and they saw that there was something called "role", and they would like to try it, but it has a not too appropriate name for it and they reproach them. Does that mean that you won't be able to do anything with that character?

Of course not. There are several ways to fix it. One of them is scratching your pocket a bit to pay for the name change service. But how do I know that the human being is rácano by nature? role-playing server) they will see that name that you have given it. This addon offers many more possibilities than just changing a name. You can put height, eye color, weight, place of birth, and even put your story for other people to read.

If you have any questions with this addon, you can leave a comment after the post, which I will answer without any problem, but for now I have to go to another mistake that, if you are a "newbie", you have surely made too.

And the thing is ... are you going with a sign down the street where you put your name? What not? And what about the rest of the passersby either? Why am I saying this?

I say this because, remember that you are playing, so the rest of the characters that you meet through the game neither they have a little sign on which they put their name. If you are going to have a beer with your bearded dwarf and your character meets someone, he cannot know the name of that other person even if you are watching it from behind the screen above his head. It is a game between "onrol" and "offrol". A game between what you can know, and what your character must know in his environment. Yes, it may sound a bit complicated and this "onrol / offrol" and knowing how to differentiate it.

Honestly, it is something quite difficult to explain, and that from my perspective, you learn to differentiate one thing from another over time, and the more you role-play. But in order to understand this, always remember, what are you interpreting.

I've been given a pretty good, and straightforward, definition of all of this:

On role is when YOU ARE your pj, and off role when DO YOU DRIVE to your pj. I assure you that this is something very basic and that it causes many problems and bad vibes among people. Bad rolls because ... one thing is confused with another. Just because your character is the most disgusting, perfidious, evil, and bastard person in all of Stormwind, doesn't mean that the person behind it is. It is like the actor who represents the evil one on duty from your favorite series. What is wrong? Well, of course it falls bad. But just because of that you have to like the person behind and who gives life to that character?

Continuing with the previous example and summarizing a bit, on role, the bearded dwarf drunkard doesn't know the other person's name, but off role, you do know it because you are seeing it.

And finally, although it is not a failure in itself, it should also be mentioned. The Action / Reaction effect.

All acts that you do have repercussions on the environment and on others, so you have to be consistent with the acts that your character commits.

If you dedicate yourself to creating a scandal in a tavern, breaking things and insulting others, surely someone who plays a City Guard will come to stop you for a commotion.

If you dedicate yourself to assaulting people on the streets, trying to rob or murder them, prepare to escape or hide, because they will come after you for being a murderous maniac.

If you go for it alone with a sword and shield for a pack of 50 orcs who shout "AWWWWWWWW" assume you are going to be beaten up. I'm not saying that you die, nobody forces you to die, but assume that you are going to lose and that at least some bones will be broken.

And to give one last example, if you dedicate yourself to conspiring against the city government with a group of comrades, do not talk about your "secret" plans in the middle of the city square, where everyone can hear you, and for Hence, betray yourself to the authorities, so the bargain is over.

If you do things like that, remember that your actions will not go unpunished, that is why a bit of consequence is asked. No one can force you to spend a day in jail, as it is your role, but… that is why consistency with Action / Reaction is requested. Every act you commit will have its reaction, and the day you learn that, along with differentiating the on / off role, I can assure you that it will be the day that you can be considered a good role-player.

And that's it for this occasion. You know, comment (not on potato tortillas) everything you want, doubts, questions, criticism, because that's what these posts are made for, so that you read and comment on them. I have to go find a certain rogue who has not bothered me throughout this article, and that is always suspicious I met ...

Peddo… measure like beeeeeeben, the peeecdes in the river…. but measure how beeeeeeeeeeben to the vder to the ...

... ains, he has already hit the pinot noir in my absence.
