Tank Sanguino - Tanking in Citadel

Welcome to SaBio tanking in Citadel! This time we are going to tank Bloodthirsty, 6th meeting of Hellfire Citadel.

Tank Sanguino - Heroic Mode

Tanking Sanguino will not be very difficult, the highlight of this encounter is the high physical damage that Sanguino inflicts with his automatic attacks. We will also deal with a minion who will deal us a lot of physical damage.

Talents

The highest damage taken to tanks will be from Sanguino's melee attacks, but the encounter will also have magic damage (albeit slight). Talents that mitigate the physical damage or general damage and mobility talents are also recommended for the interface that we will explain later.

Dynamics of the meeting

In this meeting we will meet again with Sanguino, but this time with a few extra pounds. Sanguino will find himself in a totally static pond, therefore in this encounter there will be no positioning of the boss. As is usual in this type of encounter, it will be necessary that there is always at least 1 melee within Sanguino's reach, therefore there should always be a tank within reach to avoid unnecessary deaths.

The first thing we must take into account is the ability Emerging shadows it will emit a pulse of magic damage around each character within 5 meters. To avoid excessive damage we will respect a range of 5 meters between the players.

We must also avoid the circular areas of Crushing darkness that Sanguino will launch at random points in the room.

Devour souls

The most outstanding dynamic in this meeting is Devour souls. When a player dies, Sanguino will devour their soul, transporting them to another phase. To force the death of the players Sanguino will use the ability Death shadow, a debuff that will kill the player after 5 seconds. This ability will always be used on the main tank, a healer, and various DPS. When this happens, the change of tanks will be made, keeping the secondary tank with Sanguino since the main tank will be transferred to another phase, the Sangino's stomach. Players who access Sanguino's stomach (either by Death shadow or by dying) will receive the damage Corruption of Sanguino which will cause the next time he dies to be definitively (like a normal and ordinary death). This debuff will last for 2 minutes.

Sanguino's Stomach

When we access Sanguino's stomach it will affect us Swallow. This damage will kill us after 40 seconds, therefore we have that time to do what is necessary in this phase.

During our stay in Sanguino's stomach we will have to tank the minion wrathful spirit. This minion has several abilities that we must control. The first skill will be Fel fury, a frontal attack that we must avoid since it will inflict damage and place a harmful area. The other important skill will be Scream roaring, this ability will need to be interrupted when you use it because if you cast it will increase the damage done by the Wrathful Spirit by 300%.

Lastly, the wrathful spirit will cast its ability when Onslaught when your health drops to 70%. This ability will push us and inflict light damage, the important thing is that once you use it the wrathful Spirit will go to the center of the room to exit this phase, appearing in the room where Sanguino is.

In addition to everything mentioned, the wrathful spirit will have the benefit Bloodbound Fortitude inside Sanguino's stomach. This buff reduces damage taken by 90% and will only be present inside Sanguino's stomach.

Our goal as tanks is to hold out long enough to the wrathful spirit while the DPS drops its health to 70% and when it goes out of this phase we will have to go to the center of the room to go out too. All of this must happen in less than 40 seconds or we will die from the injury. Swallow.

Normal phase-Combat against Sanguino and Raging Spirit

When the wrathful spirit exits Sanguino's stomach phase, one tank should take its agro and the other tank will deal with Sanguino. The wrathful Spirit we will place near Sanguino and the other tank to be able to do a tank change quickly and to prevent this minion from using his ability Enraged charge (He only uses it on his target if it is out of reach).

As in the Sanguino stomach phase, it will be necessary to interrupt Scream roaring of the Raging Spirit. In addition, each attack that this minion inflicts on us will apply accumulations of a debuff called Fel flames. When we accumulate 4 brands we will make a change of tanks exchanging Sanguino and the wrathful spirit. While this minion lasts, it is advised use the most powerful mitigation CDs since the damage of this minion and that of the Sanguino boss is quite high.

Once the Wrathful Spirit dies, the combat will proceed normally until reaching the interface. Feast of souls.

Feast of Souls

After 2 minutes of combat, Sanguino will deplete his energy and will have to replenish it by starting the Feast of Souls interface. During this interface Sanguino will not attack nor will he use skills and will only dedicate himself to recharging his energy. While this state lasts, the entire raid will receive magic damage, so all players will be in front of Sanguino to take advantage of the healings in the area. Sanguino will take 100% more damage for the duration of this interface.

In this interface the tanks have a special function that we must perform. At the ends of the room (in the areas where there are empty cliffs) will emerge Unstable souls. These souls are heading directly to Sanguino and if they reach him they will replenish 10 energy points shortening the interface. Our goal is to prevent them from being intercepted. When colliding with an unstable soul, it will explode doing 57.000 Shadow damage in 10 meters, so we must intercept them before they approach the rest of the companions. If we have any magic mitigation CDs this is the best time to use them. If we do not give enough between the 2 tanks, a range DPS with mitigations can help us to intercept the unstable souls.

When Sanguino reaches 100 energy it will return to normal repeating all the combat as we mentioned previously. It's very important return to melee as soon as Feast of Souls ends so that Sanguino does not attack any other player and kill him.

Meeting times

The fight against Sanguino will be totally mechanical, repeating the same phases in the same period of time until Sanguino dies. The timeline will always be as follows:

Combat Sanguino> Shadow of Death on Main Tank> Raging Spirit Minion> Feast for Souls

From the start of the fight against Sanguino until the Feast of Souls will elapse 2 minutes. In that period of time a tank will go 1 time to Sanguino's stomach due to Death shadow (8 seconds from the start of the fight), it will remain there for less than 40 seconds and will return together with the minion Spirit Iracúndo. The minion will be eliminated and Feast for Souls will begin soon (this phase will last 1 minute). When the Feast of Souls ends, everything will repeat itself.

After 3 Feasts of Souls or 9 minutes 30 seconds which is the same, Sanguino will enter Enrage and eliminate the band.

Positioning in this fight will be very simple. The tanks must stay 5 meters apart between us and also the rest of the players and we will always be in the melee of Sanguino (skull). When the wrathful Spirit appears (x) we will tank it to melee of Sanguino and respecting the 5 meters.

Finally during the Feast for Souls one tank will take care of the right wing of the room and the other will take care of the left wing so that each tank will intercept the unstable Souls in one half of the room. Souls will emerge from the purple areas highlighted in the image.

When to use the legendary ring?

The best time to use our ring Sanctus, Sigil of the Indomitable It will be when Sanguino and the Iracundo Spirit get together since it will be the moment that we receive the most damage of the entire encounter.

Tank Sanguino - Mythic Mode

In the mythical difficulty we face an increase in damage from Sanguino and all his abilities. This increased damage will force us to do our best to ensure our survival. In addition, a new dynamic will be introduced for players who access Sanguino's stomach.

Corrupt soul

Corrupted Soul is new to Mythic difficulty. When players enter Sanguino's stomach phase (either from Shadow of Death or from a normal kill) will leave a corrupted Soul in place. This Soul will channel for 30 seconds and when it ends it will disappear causing the player belonging to that soul to die permanently. In addition, the players that are inside Sanguino's stomach they will not be able to leave on their own in the same way as in heroic. On this difficulty, the only way out is for the players in the Sanguino room to eliminate your Corrupted Soul.

This complicates the meeting quite a bit. To overcome this novelty, the tank that enters the stomach will deal with the Raging Spirit as in heroic and the DPS that are outside will eliminate the corrupted soul from the tank (and the rest of the affected ones) when the minion is at 70% health or when the cast of the Corrupted Soul nears its end. This cast will last 30 seconds therefore the stomach phase will last 30 seconds maximum.

To facilitate the elimination of the Corrupted Souls, the tank affected by Death shadow (and the rest of those affected) will go to a point assigning in the room, this way all the Souls will be together and it will be easier for the DPS to eliminate them.
