Quick Guide to Restoration Shaman in Cataclysm

Welcome to the Restoration Shaman Quick Guide, where I will discuss the basics of this class for Cataclysm. 1. Talents By choosing the talent specialization, already at level 10, you get

Healers in 4.0.1 and Cataclysm: The Shaman

healers-gang-races

Cataclysm is scheduled to be released in just a month and a half, and with it big changes will be made to all classes. Many of these changes can already be enjoyed (or suffered) since the implementation of 4.0.1 a few days ago. Here we will deal with the changes affecting healers.

General

The changes that affect all classes and that are already implemented in the live game are the following:

  • Implementation of the 31-point talent trees, which have the peculiarity that exclusive specialization benefits are granted when choosing each specific branch. The intention of this is that we obtain interesting skills from level 10 when we choose the desired specialization, and not have to wait at level 40 for our class to start being entertaining. Each class will receive one skill and three bonuses.
  • Disappearance of Spell Power in all equipment (except weapon and enchantments) to be replaced by Intellect. This stat will be the equivalent of Spell Power from now on. The weapons still have Spell Power since they have to be more powerful than the rest of the pieces.
  • Disappearance of the MP5 as a statistic in the team, which happens to be replaced by Spirit.
  • All healers now benefit from Spirit as a form of mana regeneration through specialization Meditation .
  • Glyph implantation: from now on we will have three types of glyphs, which are primordial, sublime or minor. Different glyphs also appear for each class.
  • Mastery: A new stat is added that improves the last of the three bonuses received for talent specialization (for example, in the case of a Holy Priest, Mastery benefits Echo of Light).
  • Reforge: this new feature allows us to modify certain statistics of our team that are less attractive or beneficial, for another that is more useful to us. We can reduce up to 40% of a certain statistic of each piece of equipment to exchange it for another.

After the jump, we are going to do an intensive review of the Shaman. Soon I will be covering the rest of the classes.

Opinion: On the changes to the Shaman by Môrtifilia

artwork_double_shaman

It is very likely that you are following the changes of the class Shaman for Cataclysm and now, we have the opinion of those who play the class on the implication these changes might have. Therefore, we ask you to use the article voting system to evaluate Môrtifilia's article objectively and thus reward it or, on the contrary, whip it in the Dalaran source. (It's a joke)

If you haven't seen what Shaman awaits yet, be sure to check out the changes that are to come. We will continue to publish your opinions and, if you dare, you may want to take a look to see how participate in this of the opinions of classes.

Good good good. A new expansion is coming and with it comes… Changes !!!! Let's see how these affect this class. Before starting the comments, I notice one thing, I can only talk about theoretical data, since my Shaman is level 73 right now, but even so, I do not want to miss this opportunity to comment on everything that can be commented (I love the classes ^^)

Going up to level 85

Well, the first thing we come across is a new attack, the Primal Strike, which adds an attack based on the shaman's weapon. It shares a cooldown with Stormstrike, which may seem like it's not much use, but it is learned at 3rd level. This means that, no matter how little damage it does, raising a Shaman on the branch improves, it will be a bit more entertaining. , since until now only shocks were thrown and recharging the lightning shield.

At level 4 we find the spell that will replace the Healing Wave, called ... Healing Wave (not to criticize, but they have not squeezed much coconut when looking for a name), the current one being called Wave of "higher" healing. This to upload is very good. The numbers are not yet known, but it is expected that it will spend less mana than the current Healing Wave and will be faster, which helps to heal you between fights better than the current options; since it has happened to me (and it is happening) that with a lower one I do not fill my life completely, and with the current one I spend a lot of mana.

Opinion: On Changes to the Restoration Shaman in Cataclysm

shaman_healing_chain Many of you already know that, although I started as a Magician, I have ended up as a Shaman. It's definitely one of my favorite classes in the game as it offers so much versatility. I have not wanted to miss the opportunity to analyze how the class I play is going to change when Cataclysm lands. Although there is still a long way to go with the changes, it is now quite clear the intention of the developers with this class.

I may have an article a bit long, but I would like to lead by example, analyzing the Shaman in his Restoration Branch as I know her.

I would like to warn the shamans of the world first that I have mainly played with Restoration and Elemental, with the Upgrade branch being the one I have played the least although I started doing some DPS tests at the end of Wrath of the Lich King.

I recommend reading this article with the one about the changes to the shaman close by so that it is easier to understand. I will start from the beginning on each branch and go all the way to make it easier to understand each branch.

The first thing that is pointed out of the Restoration branch is a "new" spell called Healing Wave that we receive at level 4. The first thing you think is… well, wasn't that I had a spell called that? Well yes, but right away we realize that the other two Healing Wave spells are restructuring us. The lower one remains as it is and the one we now have will be called the upper Healing Wave. And I say, wasn't it easier to say that they added superior healing wave to us?
The point is that the intention is that Wave of Healing is our constant cure, while the Lower and Upper are totally situational. In my opinion, the Lower Healing Wave will be forgotten and we will rarely use the Upper Healing Wave as it will spend a lot of mana.
Another thing you can think of is that if mana is really going to matter that much, we will have to learn to play with the 3 but it seems to me quite unlikely that it will happen.

Cataclysm Class Advancement: Shaman

In World of Warcraft: Cataclysm we will change and add some characteristics to the talents and abilities of all classes in the game. In this preview, you'll get a first look at some of the changes affecting shamans, including the new spells, abilities, and talents, and an overview of how the Mastery system will work with the different talent specs.

New Shaman Spells

Primal Strike (Available at Tier 3): Primal Strike is a new weapon-based attack that every shaman will learn in-game early on. Our goal with this ability is to make leveling up with Enhancement rather than Elemental more viable, as many of the key Enhancement talents are available at fairly high levels.

Wave of Healing (Level 4): Although the shaman already has an ability called Healing Wave, we're adding another spell to the class's direct healing arsenal and giving it a familiar name. The current Healing Wave will be renamed the Higher Healing Wave, and the "new" Healing Wave is intended to be the shaman's recurring heal. Lower Healing Wave and Higher Healing Wave will be used in somewhat more unique situations.

Discharge weapon (level 81): Unleash the power of your weapon's enchantments with additional effects (see below). An Enhancement shaman with two weapons will activate the effects of the enchantments of both weapons. Instant launch. 30 meter range. 15 second cooldown. It cannot be dispelled.

The Classes of Môrtifilia: The Shaman

Let's continue with the classes. Today we will see a static class, which barely moves, does not notice the changes and disappears without warning ... Excuse me? Really? Oops, they inform me that the player is not the totems, but the shaman next to me ... what a stupid mistake, right?

banner_classes_mortifilia_chaman

The shaman, like the paladin, is a hybrid class, but an offensive one. Help the group quickly eliminate the enemy before it becomes a serious threat. Remember, that at the beginning of the game, the paladin was only available to Alliance players and the Shaman to Horde players, so its benefits could not be combined in the first stage of the game. Let's take a closer look at this class.

Optimizing Restoration Shaman Tier 10 Parts Bonus

A few days ago I had a question. As a Restoration Shaman, how should I go about acquiring my Tier 10 pieces?

I only got the Tier 2 9-Piece Bonus because the 4-Piece Bonus was really bad and it paid more to choose Elemental Shaman Tier 9 pieces for the Haste bonus. But now, what I do?

shaman_healing_real_chain

Well, first let's check out the Restoration Shaman Tier 2 10-Piece bonus:

Your Riptide spell grants 20% spell haste for your next cast within 10 seconds.

It is undoubtedly a great bonus, especially if you are used to launching Tides Vivas. Riptide has a 6 second cooldown so you can have this effect active every 6 seconds. Chain Healing leaves me in 1,7 seconds, quite a reasonable time.

Not only is it good because of the increase in healing that it supposes, but also because it gives us a new tool to use. It directly affects the way you play. Rippling Tides has always been a great spell, it costs little mana, it's instant, and it's the only decent time heal we have. In addition, it has a great impact on mana regeneration thanks to the talent Improved Water Shield. Now with the Tier 2 10-Piece Bonus it's even better.
