The devastation of Azeroth

In the icy wastelands of Northrend, the final battle against the ruthless Lich King ended in victory for the defenders of Azeroth. Returning home, the veterans of the relentless conflict against the Scourge were showered with honors for their brave sacrifices, as the honorable fallen were mourned. But as hope shone for the Lich King's downfall, Azeroth's native elemental spirits grew increasingly confused and erratic, resulting in a series of deadly natural disasters. Horde and Alliance leaders were vying for clues to the troubled state of the world, but nothing could have prepared them for what lay ahead.

Without warning, the Corrupted Aspect dragon, Deathwing, emerged from the rocky heart of Deepholm, the realms of earth on the elemental plane. The land cracked into jagged fissures and monstrous waves flooded the coastal regions. From the Thousand Spiers to the Blasted Lands, the surface of Azeroth underwent a violent reshaping. Now, the Horde and the Alliance must defend their homes against Deathwing and his minions, as well as bear the disturbing burden that the world as they knew it has changed… forever.

With the transition to Patch 4.0.1, there are also changes to the Starter Program. The novelty is that it will now allow you to play while downloading game content.

With the new patch 4.0.1 we are introducing a new World of Warcraft launcher that will allow you to download game data as you play. This will reduce the time you spend downloading, installing, and patching World of Warcraft.

Start program

We have redesigned the launcher to provide a visual update on the installation progress. You will find a new progress bar divided into sections (red, yellow and green) that represent the amount of data you currently have installed.

After the jump you can read more information about the stages of the download progress.

Patch 4.0.1: Guild Changes

Patch 4.0.1 also brings improvements to the Guilds. A List of professions, News System y Next events, and in general the management of them will be improved.

Guilds are a mainstay of the World of Warcraft community. Whether you're a dedicated dungeon player or part of a calm progress guild, we've made a number of changes to improve your guild experience. In patch 4.0.1, players will find that Guilds are no longer part of the social window, but will now have their own dedicated interface (default: J). This interface has been completely redesigned to increase efficiency, aesthetic appeal, and easier navigation for all guild members.
For this message, we'll be looking at three main features: the Professions List, Guild News and Upcoming Events, and Improved Guild Controls. Since the new interface contains a wealth of impressive enhancements, we believe that these particular features should be highlighted. This also gives us the opportunity to provide some additional clarification.

After the jump all the detailed changes.

Patch 4.0.1: Attribute Changes

With the arrival of the new Patch 4.0.1, the statistics will no longer be as we know them. Some will change, others will disappear from the objects and others will even disappear from the game ...

Endurance: Due to the allocation of Strength, Agility, and Intellect, characters without plate armor will now see an increase in Stamina. The amount of health will be much more balanced between characters who wear plate armor and those who do not.

You can see the rest of the changes after the jump.

Patch 4.0.1: Glyph Changes

With the entry of Patch 4.01, the Glyph System that we currently know undergoes a drastic change. We will see what the registrants think of these changes ...

In the upcoming patch 4.0.1, we will introduce the redesign of the current glyph system. This update brings several changes, including the addition of a new glyph tier, the transition of glyphs from consumable items to permanent spells, and an improved user interface.

After the jump the changes in more detail.

Patch 4.0.1: Changes to class mechanics

With the introduction of the new Patch, classes will undergo many changes. From the forums we get a list of all of them.

Patch 4.0.1 will bring significant changes to all classes in World of Warcraft, including redesigns of the talent trees, modified spells, and improved abilities. So we want to review some of the more complex changes that are being made. If your class is not listed here, it does not mean that we have not invested so much time in it, the class will receive a wide range of talents, spells and abilities, we simply believe that these mechanics deserve further explanation.

After the jump, all classes changes.

Patch 4.0.1 is enabled in the Public Test Realms

Basically, this patch is the one that we will see shortly before Cataclysm arrives and that will introduce us to the changes in talents, abilities, etc. but without changing the world we know.

Here's a list of what you can and cannot do in the public test realms:

  • The world continues as before.

  • Not available Archeology
  • Guild leveling system is not available

Assault on the Ruby Sanctum

For centuries, the Red Dragonflight and its noble matriarch, Alexstrasza the Protector, have dedicated themselves to protecting life on Azeroth. But now a threat hangs over the heart of this virtuous Flight.

A strange silence has settled over The Ruby Sanctum, the sacred lair of the Red Flight within the Chamber of Aspects. This disturbing development raises fears that The Sanctum, home to the largest clutch of red dragon eggs in all of Azeroth, has been raped by an unknown and sinister force. If this proves true and immediate and drastic measures are not taken, the benevolent Red Flight may be mutilated forever.

Final Notes for Patch 3.3.3

Today Patch 3.3.3 arrives on our servers and here are the complete notes, with all the changes that have been introduced throughout its life in the Public Test Realms.

PvP

  • The amount of honor gained from an honorable kill has been increased by 100% for characters at all levels. Since all honor is awarded based on an honorable kill conversion rate, this change will effectively double the amount of honor received for honorable kills or for completing the Battlegrounds and Wintergrasp objectives; however, the amount of experience gained for completing the battleground objectives and the amount of honor rewarded for completing each Wintergrasp mission remain unchanged.
  • Battlefields
    • Random Battleground system has been added! Similar to the Dungeon Finder's Random Dungeon system, players will now be able to queue for a Random Battleground.
      • The Random Battleground option can be found in the Battleground tab of the PvP chart and is now only available to level 80 characters.
      • If this option is selected, players will not be able to queue for specific battlegrounds and a random battlefield at the same time.
      • Similar to the Random Dungeon system, players will not know which battlefield they have been queued for until they enter the battlefield.
      • The Random Battleground option will only allow groups of a maximum of 5 players to queue together.
      • Extra rewards will be offered for choosing the Random Battleground option.
        • Upon winning on a battleground using the Random Battleground option for the first time each day, players will be rewarded with additional Honor Points worth 30 Honor Kills and 25 Arena Points.
        • By winning additional battlegrounds using the Random Battleground option after the first random victory, players will be rewarded with Honor Points worth 15 additional Honor Kills.
        • When losing on a battleground using the Random Battleground option, players will be rewarded with additional Honor Points worth 5 honorable kills.
    • Daily Battleground Missions have been removed in favor of the Random Battleground option.
    • Battlegrounds will no longer award Marks of Honor.
      • Players who already have Marks of Honor can still give them to their respective factions' quest givers, including the individual Marks of those with more Marks from one battlefield than another.
      • Items that previously required Marks of Honor will have their cost adjusted to remove that requirement.
    • As long as a battlefield has the party bonus active, it will be referred to as "Call to Arms" in the Battlefield and Calendar tab. Additionally, Call to Arms Battleground Honor rewards have been changed.
      • Choosing a specific battlefield with the Call to Arms bonus active will earn you exactly the same rewards as choosing the Random Battleground option.
        • Upon defeating a Call to Arms battlefield for the first time in a day, players will be rewarded with additional Honor Points worth 30 Honor Kills and 25 Arena Points.
        • With additional Call to Arms battlefield victories after the first time that day, players will be rewarded with additional Honor points worth 15 honorable kills.
        • Upon losing on a Call to Arms battlefield, players will be rewarded with additional Honor Points worth 5 honorable kills.
      • When using the Random Battleground option, players will not receive additional rewards if the chosen battlefield has the Call to Arms bonuses. Additionally, rewards for the first daily victory cannot be earned more than once, regardless of whether or not it is earned through the Random Battleground system or a Call to Arms Battleground.
  • Conquest of Winter
    • The internal balance system now only changes when a faction achieves 2 consecutive defenses after an initial capture of Wintergrasp, instead of 1. More details can be found in our PvP discussion forum.

New version of patch 3.3.3 (11599)

A new version of the Patch 3.3.3 to the Public Test Realms and has come with several changes.

Looks like Patch 3.3.3 has kicked in with this class balancing thing and made tweaks to a bunch of classes. Overall, it has been a positive change and there are no "nerfs." On the other hand, it has been included in the notes of Patch 3.3.3 what we explained about the new event boss mechanic.

Dungeons and Raids

  • World Event Managers
    • The heads of holiday events (such as ahune of the solstice festival) will be accessible through the Dungeon Finder.
    • Players will need to use the Dungeon Finder or speak to a special event NPC in the world to queue up and access bosses.
    • After accepting the queue for a vacation boss, the party will be teleported directly to the area needed to confront the boss.
    • The previous invocation criteria have been removed. Players can queue up and battle each of these bosses as many times as they like to get whatever loot they can drop.
    • All rare holiday objects (such as Reins of the Headless Horseman) will have a chance to be found in a special loot that will drop once for each player in the party, no more than once per day, similar to the daily Random Dungeon quest which grants a specific reward the first time it is completed in one day.

Death Knight

  • Ice Chains: Skill now innately applies Frost Fever to a target.
  • Talents
    • Frost
      • Icy claws: The personal haste buff granted by this talent is no longer exclusive to other sources of melee haste. This allows Death Knights to hit 4/6/12/16/20% faster when Frost Rush is applied. Windfury Totem and Improved Frozen Claws party / raid component still do not stack.
    • Profane
      • Unholy blight: In addition to its previous effect, this talent now prevents diseases from being dispelled from victims affected by Unholy Blight.

Patch 3.3.3 Notes

Here are the 3.3.3 Patch Notes which, as you can see, are quite extensive.

General

  • Characters copied to the trial realm are not copied with their achievement history to facilitate the character copy process.

PvP

  • The amount of honor gained from an honorable kill has been increased by 100% for characters at all levels. Since completing objectives on the battlegrounds and Wintergrasp rewards players with an honor based on the conversion rate of honorable kills, this change means that completing objectives will reward a bit more honor. As compensation, experience earned on the battlefields has been reduced by 50% and honor earned for completing weekly Wintergrasp missions has been reduced by 50%.
  • Battlefields
    • Random Battleground system has been added! Similar to the Random Dungeon system in the Dungeon Finder, players will be able to queue for a Random Battleground.
      • The Random Battleground option can be found in the Battleground tab of the PvP chart and is now only available to level 80 characters.
      • If this option is selected, players will not be able to queue for specific battlegrounds and a random battlefield at the same time.
      • Similar to the Random Dungeon system, players will not know which battlefield they have been queued for until they are on the battlefield.
      • The Random Battleground option will only allow groups of a maximum of 5 players to queue together.
      • Rewards will be offered for choosing the Random Battleground option.
    • Battlegrounds stop awarding marks of Honor.
        • For additional Call to Arms battlefield victories after the first time that day, players will be rewarded with additional Honor points worth 15 honorable kills.
        • Upon losing on a Call to Arms battlefield, players will be rewarded with additional Honor Points worth 5 additional Honor Kills.
      • When using the Random Battleground option, players will not receive additional rewards if the chosen battlefield has the Call to Arms bonuses. Patch 3.3.2 Notes translated from Korean

Blizzard had a slight slip and released the Patch 3.3.2 notes on their korean website. I have no idea about Korean but it seems that the boys from World of raids They have been able to get an acceptable translation and now I will pass them on to Spanish.

Keep in mind that the Korean-English translation does not have to be the most accurate, so some things may change from here to the release of Patch 3.3.2, which is supposed to be the last patch until the release of Cataclysm. Having seen what I have seen, I would dare to say that we will see it this Wednesday on the servers.

Until next week, it won't be on the servers.

There are no big surprises. Changes to the dungeons to make them faster as we already commented. The adjustments to warrior protection, some generous settings for the Warlock and some not so generous settings for Elemental Shamans and Balance Druids.

The content of these notes may change throughout the day. I will leave notifications at the end of the article.

Patch 3.3.0a released

Today a small patch (only 5 Mb) called Patch 3.3.0a is applied that fixes errors with Mac computers.

Recent fixes on the server

We continue with the changes to the servers to fix some bugs after Patch 3.3. As a "surprise" we have the nerf ...

Undocumented changes to Patch 3.3

After each patch (especially if it is a content patch) a series of changes usually appear that have not been included in the Patch notes. Although there were some changes that we already collected in the Great Guide to Patch 3.3, Proenix on the official World of Warcraft forums, you have collected them in this thread.

I find it very interesting because it also clarifies the doubts about the battered grip that starts the chain of missions to obtain Quel'dalar or his other weapons.

Another issue that causes strangeness is the issue of reputations in dungeons without having a tabard, which is also specified.

If you find something, don't hesitate to add it!

Edito: Proenix has contacted us as they have updated the thread. Now this article collects all the information that appears in the original thread.

Racial

Trolls

  • Raging: Tooltip corrected to show increased casting speed as well as attack speed.

Classes: General

The description of all silencing abilities (Arcane Torrent, Silence, Silencing Shot, and Strangle) have been updated to also show: "Also interrupts NPC spell casting for 3 seconds."

Death knights

Profane

  • Desecration: Duration increased to 20 seconds (from 12 seconds)

Druids

Equilibrio

  • Genesis: Now only applies to spells with periodic effects (previously, all periodic effects). It's probably just a clarification in the description.
  • Eclipse: Now increases the damage done by Wrath by 40% (up from 30%) and the critical chance of Starfire by 40% (up from 30%)

Feral

  • Infected Wounds: No longer stacks (previously stacked 2 times)
  • Bear and Cat forms now have proper dodge animations

Cory Stockton and Greg Street Interview on Icecrown

Blizzard shows us an interesting interview with Cory Stockton (World Designer) and Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street.

With the final battle against the Lich King looming on the horizon, Lead Content Designer Cory Stockton and Lead Systems Designer Greg Street discuss what awaits players within Icecrown Citadel and provide insight into the design process for the latest raid and dungeon encounters in Wrath of the Lich King.

What were you most excited to design about the Icecrown Citadel?

Cory: I think the most exciting thing about developing Icecrown Citadel was knowing that we were working on the final chapter of the Northrend expansion and that we could give players the feeling that the story is complete. Arthas is an important character in the history of Warcraft, so we are proud to have made this the best possible experience.

in1-thumb in1-thumb

Icecrown and The Frozen Throne are important places in the world of Azeroth, especially for those who have been playing Warcraft for a long time. How is the importance of these places and the events that took place here expressed in the design?

Cory: History has been an important factor in the design of Icecrown Citadel from the beginning. When we sat down to discuss the layout of the raid, we immediately turned to Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne to think about how we could bring back the icy spire from the final cinematic in World of Warcraft. We decided to build the Icecrown Citadel around the original spire to engage players in the story. This type of performance continued through the entire design process.

Greg: We want the Icecrown experience to be epic from start to finish, including the loot. We're not showering players with items, at least no more than we already do, but we want to ensure that items will be powerful enough to result in improvements for all players.

Icecrown and its progression in Patch 3.3

icecrown_raid_preview_1-thumb Draztal explains a bit about how the progression of Icecrown will work and I think those are the details that interest players the most.

It was to be hoped that some method would be introduced to increase the duration of the dungeon, so that the gap between Icecrown and Cataclysm would not be too great. Personally, I find it great that it is necessary to defeat a boss in normal mode in order to defeat him in heroic mode. However, I have my serious doubts that any of the initial encounters can be defeated in Heroic mode with this scheme during the first few weeks.

Another point in favor that I see is the explanation in the history of World of Warcraft (lore) and that it does not have a greater explanation as could happen in the Trial of the Crusader. It is clearly observed how at the beginning Icecrown will be quite difficult and, with the passage of time, the difficulty will be reduced thanks to the supports received by our Faction leaders.

However (There is always one) the limitations of attempts to Professor Putricide, Queen of Blood, Sindragosa and the Lich King seem a bit to me ... Here I think that the meaning of "week of attempts to boss X extending the save to learn it" is lost. impossible, if you extend the save you will still not have Putricidio. Arthas will be practically inaccessible at first, you will have (once all are unlocked) 15 attempts to finish them all and, as a general rule, there will be some death in one of the bosses leaving you for Arthas a few attempts.

So I have to say that my feeling is bittersweet about the changes.

What changes? Oops! I almost forgot…! After the jump you have the explanation of Draztal:

Shadow Agony - Shadowmourne

Blizzard has revealed some more information about the history of the new legendary weapon that will come in Patch 3.3: Shadow Agony.

Before the beginning of his reign as Lich King, Prince Arthas Menethil was a servant controlled by a sword that he considered essential in saving his people: the Frostmourne Runeblade. Finding and obtaining the sword in the frozen wastelands of Northrend was quite an odyssey for which the prince paid a high price: he lost his mentor, his relationship with his subjects and his humanity. The price paid by the living beings of Azeroth was even greater.

Clinging tight to the sword he had laid down his life for, Arthas wreaked havoc on the kingdom of Lordaeron and freed himself from the control of the Burning Legion. By the time the young prince proclaimed himself leader of the Scourge, the Frostmourne was already filled with the souls of those who had dared to oppose him.

Now, Arthas has become so inseparable from his weapon that the image of the sword has carved a hole even in the architecture of his fortress: Icecrown Citadel. Its hilt is never far from your hands, its ghostly whispers constantly ringing in your ears. The Frostmourne has as much control over Northrend as the Lich King.

thumb-sm3 To challenge that control, mighty heroes will have to follow Arthas's path more closely than ever.

In his relentless attempt to arm the troops of the living against the Scourge, Darion Mograine has created the Ashen Verdict, a union between the most skilled craftsmen of the Argent Crusade and the Ebon Blade. While the unrivaled champions of the Crusade wield the power of the Light and their leader wields the Crematorium, some of Mograine's dark warriors have begun to question their hopes of victory.

These Death Knights insist that the Cremation and the abilities of the Argent Crusaders, while powerful, are not enough to defeat Frostmourne. They claim that Darion Mograine knows of another legendary weapon: one that could hold the key to defeating the Lich King and cleanse Northrend… but it doesn't exist yet.

At the moment, the weapon is a formless idea that has no more killing power than an angry thought. When it is spoken of, it is spoken in a low voice and the High Lord has a habit of silencing those who mention it in public.

This will be very good news for those who still pursue The Glory of the Hero and Red Proto-Drake.

New map interface and mission tracking

With the new version of the Patch just introduced, I have set out to test the new Quest Tracking interface in combination with the map that has been in development for quite some time. If I remember correctly we could see hints in Patch 3.1 but it was retired to give it a final facelift.

Will it be the end of Questhelper? I sincerely hope so because it is an Addon that occupies a lot in memory but that, without it, it is difficult to dedicate itself to uploading quickly.

The first major change is that the interface has been divided into 4 well-defined panels. You can click on the image to see the explanation of the panels:

new_mission_interface

But the thing Don "t stay there. Now, if you move the mouse through the mission numbers, you will see an illuminated area appear on the map that indicates where the objectives of this mission are. According to patch notesIf the objectives can be achieved in more than one area at the same time, the one closest to the player will be displayed:

New version of patch 3.3 (10772)
